God s steadfast love endures forever. Let us reach out to those in need, for they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. God s love calls us to recognize our family, to see Christ in each other. Let us move beyond the margins and out of our comfort zone, into the world around us. God s perfect love casts out all fear. Come, let us worship our God, who is Love. We don t always love our brothers and sisters in Christ. We hold grudges, we judge others, we brush off those who call upon us for help. We do not always see the needs around us and focus on our own busy lives. Forgive us, O God, for not loving others as You have loved us. Forgive us when we fail to keep Your commandment to love one another. Restore in us the willingness to reach beyond our comfort zone, to seek out those in need, and to let go of grudges and judging, remembering that all of us have sinned. Guide us back to Your ways of love, peace, and reconciliation. In the name of Jesus the Christ, we pray. Amen.

Team leaders of the BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY recently met to discuss and improve the guidelines and procedures of providing family meals or receptions for our members. We have 8 rotating teams who set up, prepare food items and clean up before or after funeral services. We are in need of additional members to help on these teams. If you are willing to help, please contact Pam in the church office to volunteer. We appreciate all those who serve to support this important ministry and hope others will consider giving their time and talents. Thank you! THE AGAPE CIRCLE will meet at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, May 8th, at the Perry-Moore House. The speaker will be Dana Bradley, who has recently relocated to Rutherfordton and will speak on her activities since arriving. Jeannie Kiser will provide a light refreshment. The mission project for May will be the Yard Sale. All women of the church are invited to join us GRADUATION is fast approaching! 5 THE CHRYSALIS AND EMMAUS GROUP will meet on Tuesday, May 1st at 6:30 pm in the Perry-Moore House. Bring a dish to share. UMW YARD SALE FOR MISSIONS IS THIS SATURDAY, MAY 5th! We will receive your donations on Friday, May 4th at the Perry- Moore House or call Bobbie Tedford at for pick-up. SATURDAY, MAY 5, am until 2 pm During Rutherfordton s MayFest Celebration All proceeds go to Local Missions Presented by: The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church, Rutherfordton NOTE: Items left over will go the Habitat Restore to help build houses. OPERATION INASMUCH Saturday, May 19 Plans are taking shape for this Mission Blitz of Christ's Light to our community. From yard work to casseroles for our shut-ins to more extensive building and repair projects for community ministries, church members, and neighbors all over the area - your help and Christian spirit are needed. Sign-up sheets are in today s bulletin. Please place completed sign-up sheets in the offering plate or drop them at the office. We need to ask that you sign-up by April 29th. Please also indicate your desires regarding an Operation Inasmuch T-Shirt. Together, we will accomplish more than any one of us thought possible.
