Hello St James, The month of March comes with thawing of snow and earth, longer sunshine, and singing birds. To us who live in the northern Hemisphere spring by March is what we have been watching and waiting for. I have a few plans which will start with this month of beauty and energy. First, I am going to take part in the Lent of Jesus Christ which began on Ash Wednesday On February 14th. I am having a mid-week service at Oneida United Methodist Church and my topic this year is My experiences of different churches that I have served as a pastor or attended as a member. I still remember a Presbyterian church where I had attended from childhood to my high school years. I missed it, but I am sure she has changed a lot by years of technological advancement and city planning. But she is within my heart, remaining as an image. How many churches have you ever attended through your life? Many of you are so blessed to have served only one church, as if old couples celebrate over 40-years life together. Second, I am going to resume my home visitation of the members. For the winter I took a break from visitation home by home, but, imitating the travels that Jesus took, I am planning to visit as many as I can. Third, maybe on the last weekend of March I am going to resume my bicycle exercise, which I had to stop for weather and road conditions. My goal during the time of Lent and Easter is Lord, I want to be a Christian! Pastor Dongsu Beginning on Sunday, March 11th 1

We are in need of empty containers cool whip (12 oz.) size, or bigger, preferably with the lids. If you have any, please leave them in the kitchen. Thank you. Sunday Morning Mission offerings from January to March will go to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Click on the link above to find out more. Giving: Consistency Counts Now concerning the collection for the saints: you should follow the directions I gave to the churches of Galatia. On the first day of every week, each of you is to put aside and save whatever extra you earn, so that collections need not be taken when I come. (1 Corinthians 16:1-2) Give with consistent gratitude Give to God first Give with consistent sacrifice Give with consistent praise Paul was clearly a believer in consistency. He encouraged the Corinthians to donate regularly on the Sabbath to store up funds for relief of their poor brothers and sisters in Jerusalem. We still collect donations in our churches on a weekly basis on the Sabbath (although some of us give biweekly, monthly or even annually). We also set aside time in each worship service to express our gratitude to God and to praise God for the many blessings God gives us (for which gratitude our gifts are a token). This we do consistently. Not during a season of thankfulness or holiday of praise, but every week. Many consistently put God first as well: giving to God before taking anything for themselves. One faithful son of our congregation gives an annual gift at year-end. I surmise this is from a bonus he receives and he gives the church a tithe from it. Moreover, we give with consistent sacrifice. If the gift means nothing to you, then it means nothing to God. Conversely, the greater the cost the greater the gift. This does not necessarily mean the size of the gift in dollars, but rather the labor that went into earning it, the needs forgone that allowed it to be given, and the recognition that others needs are as important as our own. May we all pray to be consistent in our faithfulness! Jim Wells, Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation Daily Bread Devotional There are free copies of the Daily Bread devotional available for you to take, at the Connection Center table. 9 United Methodist Volunteers in Mission Volunteers Who are Called to do Mission VIM provides volunteer opportunities to express Christ's love by helping our brothers and sisters in our local community, across our nation and around the globe through disaster response activities, housing projects and rehabilitation, education, and medical assistance. The understanding that we are called and that we are sent is at the foundation of our faith. The scriptures are full of stories of persons who responded to a call and were sent on mission for God. Jesus spent his ministry calling persons and sending them on God's mission. Jesus summed up the Christian lifestyle in a simple formula: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength," and "Love your neighbour as yourself." Putting our faith into action is at the very heart of our Christian calling. The New Testament instructs those who would be followers of Jesus to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give shelter to the homeless, heal the sick, care for the widows, and nurture the children. Through United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, every person in the church has the opportunity to serve and to live their lives more faithfully. And when we reach out and use what God has given us in the service of others, we have life-transforming experiences.
