Peaches and nectarines especially have been very plentiful. From some of the gentleman's gardens in the neighbourhood, as many as 2,000 peaches have found their way into Truro market, and sold to dealers as low as 3d. per dozen. from the West Briton 150 years ago. Treasure is something we are told thats valued for its rarity What becomes a treasure to you, will be something different for me. A special piece of jewellery, or an heirloom passed down, A card, a letter, a wedding or christening gown. A baby s first smile, these are things that we hold dear, And to ponder a while about them, can sometimes bring a tear. Let us take the time to think, of the work of our GOD S hand. So many wonderful creations, much more than the grains of sand. The roaring seas, a mirrored lake and tumbling waterfall. And overhead against blue sky, the birds give there sweet call. Take my hand and walk with me through the countryside. Down leafy lanes and flowering woods, came and abide. Can you see the treasures? as far as the eye can see. The beauty and colour of nature, and all of it is free. God gives in abundance from his eternal store. The love of family and friends, and yes even more. The world, the greatest gift, and most valuable treasure ever, Is JESUS CHRIST his son, who is our Lord and Saviour. So, dear friends, when you are feeling low, and your day gives no pleasure. Look into your heart, and bring to mind memories that you treasure. But remember most of all, the love of God s dear SON. Who gave his life for you, and victory over death has won. Sylvia Shield 2. 3 LANNER, FROM THE PAST FALMOUTH AND GWENNAP WELCOME SERVICE AT MYLOR Superintendent Minister and his family Is there anyone in this picture you know? If so please contact Mrs. Mary Allen Rev. Robbie Bowen. our new Superintendent being greeted by Rev. Brian Mavers Rev Steve Wild welcoming Jenny Lockwood as Pastor of the Lanner section There was a large number of members from the Falmouth and Gwennap circuit to welcome the new superintendent minister the Rev Robbie Bowen and his wife Ruth and their children Hannah and Daniel at Mylor on 27th August. Rev Steve Wild also introduced Mrs. Jenny Lockwood as the Pastor for the Lanner Section of the circuit. (Pastor Lockwood will commence her duties in March 2016.) Last but not least Mr. Paul Langford was presented with a certificate for 50yrs service as a local preacher, by Rev Steve Wild President of the Methodist Conference and Chair of the Cornwall District Rev. Robbie Bowen will be leading our morning service on Sunday 29th November at 10.30am. Anyone know the date this photograph was taken? The theme was "Harvest." Guest speaker was Mr. Michael Veall who spoke on farming from the time he was a lad to his retirement. The wives sang songs from Mission Praise arranged as a medley by Darrell Curnow, tea etc was served. Afterwards Chris Curnow presented a bouquet of flowers to Sylvia Pooley on the occasion of her Golden Wedding Anniversary. Thirty two pounds was raised for the Shelter Box appeal. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Please Pray for Syria, Nigeria, the Middle East and all the countries who are in desperate need of peace, pray to GOD that he will send guidance and hope. 5 Ask for forgiveness before it's to late before you're standing at Heavens gate Will you be ready for that final call ask for it now, there's no time at all Our Lord made a promise he's coming soon this place we call Earth is heading for doom The millennium's bringing lots of change things are happening that's very strange In the life of every mortal man let God in your life while you can God decides when the time has come to send back to Earth his only son The time you see is drawing near and if you're ready, you have no fear What a Surprise. (To the male population...beware!!) When your wife starts asking questions about things you had done before you met her, be prepared for the unexpected. I wasn't and what a surprise I had. When Revd. Mark and the leadership team presented me with a certificate for 60 years service as organist to the Methodist Church, along with a framed picture, of Perranwell Station as it was in THANK YOU ALL Care and Share Five Generations On Sunday 13th September Abbie Marie Kathleen Williams was Christened by Rev. 6 MWIB DISTRICT DAY CHRISTMAS AT GWENNAP PIT SUNDAY 6 DECEMBER : 5PM Join with us and take part in this traditional service as we hear again the meaning of the Christingle; light your oranges and sing your favourite carols. CHRISTMAS EVE : 5PM CAROLS BY FAIRY LIGHT Take a rest from the busy preparations of the season. Join in with the carols, hear the familiar readings and take time to enjoy the real meaning of Christmas. Christmas Blessings from all at Gwennap Pit The Cornwall Methodist Women in Britain Autumn District Day was held at RMC on Tuesday 15 th September. About 100 ladies aaended when the Speaker was Rev. Elizabeth Rundle, a former Minister in the Camborne Circuit who now lives in Poole in Dorset. The day commenced with coffee being served by the RMC ladies in the Jubilee Hall and VesNbule. Elizabeth s subject for the day was My Nets and Labour. We were introduced to Singing the Faith No. 558, the last verse of which reads: Lord, as I drix on the waters, Be the resnng-place of my restless heart, My life s companion, my friend and refuge. The first session was enntled Desiring only... Elizabeth said All people everywhere have a wish list not quite like those on Escape to the country which is for shelter, food and to live in peace. Ladies read relevant Bible passages:- Ps 23, Isaiah 9:6-7, Micah 4:3-4 and 5:4-5, Mk 12: Session 2 was enntled No power, no wealth when Elizabeth dressed as Susannah Wesley and gave us her life history and the influence she had on her children. We all sat enthralled. There will be tea and light refreshments after all our services. If you are able to join us you will be made very welcome. We hope you can stay for a chat and a cuppa in this very special place. WEDNESDAY 6 JANUARY 2016 : 7PM EPIPHANY Before you put away your decorations come and share with us in the Journey of the Magi as they reach Bethlehem and meet the infant Jesus. Last chance, perhaps, to sing those Carols; hear readings and poems. During the lunch break, we had the opportunity to peruse the book and TraidcraX stalls when business was brisk. Session 3 was enntled You have spoken my name when the unique and personal care of the Creator God for each one of us was explored. To bring a very enjoyable day to a close, Rev. Carole Holmes focused our thoughts on Jairus daughter and the woman with the issue of blood before sharing Communion together.
