Question for Adults: What is your experience of being a follower of Christ, of being cared for and guarded by him as shepherd? Fourth Sunday of Easter Weekend of April 20/21, 2013 In today s Gospel reading Jesus is quite emphatic: My sheep hear my voice Those who exercise good stewardship of their prayer lives realize that hearing or listening is fundamental to prayer. Prayer is a personal encounter with the Lord and requires dialogue. Some people never learn the art of listening. When we enter into a dialogue with someone we love we speak and we listen. Otherwise it cannot be a dialogue. This week let s think about how we pray. Do we do all the talking and then get up and do something else? Or do we sit quietly, waiting for God s voice to enter our hearts? Confirmation April 10, 2013 Adult Faith Corner April 28 The Star of Bethlehem Part 1: with Thomas Lamb in Damascus May 5, 2013 The Star of Bethlehem Part 2: with Thomas Lamb in Damascus Connected in the Spirit Connected in the Spirit Archbishop Tobin has asked us to be part of the current cycle of parish planning related to the Connected in the Spirit. His expectation is that each parish will find neighboring parishes with whom to plan in order to: 1. Share more resources with each other and with parishes in need; 2. Avoid unneeded duplication of services; and, 3. Fill in the gaps where service and ministry have not been available. The Connected in the Spirit planning process includes the parishes in all 4 Indianapolis deaneries. A Core Team has been appointed to lead the parish through the planning and parish evaluation process. This team will also guide our participation in the planning process with our neighboring West Deanery parishes and in the implementation of Archbishop Tobin's decision. In addition to Fr. Mike, the Core Team consists of the following parishioners: Council Chair, Katie Patterson, Anne Wilmes, Tim Ramion, Ed Holloran, John Kistner, and Dan Krodel. By the end of May, an initial parish assessment to evaluate our strengths and identify our concerns will be conducted. The evaluation of parish ministries will be divided into four categories: Sacramental Life of the Parish; Evangelization, Catechesis and Catholic Schools; Stewardship and Justice; and Effective Administration. As parishioners of St. Christopher Parish, your input will be invaluable during the Connected in the Spirit process. We will use a variety of methods to receive your input and to communicate planning process results. For the parish community, we will be conducting surveys after Masses on May 4 and 5 for the parish assessment. The surveys will also be available on the parish website. Starting in June, we will be involved in working with neighboring parishes in the West Deanery to explore how we can work together by jointly addressing our combined strengths and weaknesses to serve the Catholic Community. We look forward to sharing more details with you and receiving your input in the next few weeks during the assessment process and through 2013 as we continue the Connected in the Spirit process with our neighboring West Deanery Parish partners.

4 Christian Services Resurrection I was given a dead looking dried up pod by a wise woman, who said: Sit with this. Meditate on this. Pray as you sit. In a day or two put this pod into a bowl of water. Sit with it. Meditate on it. Watch and pray as you sit. I did as she said. After two days of prayer, I put the pod into a bowl of water. Wonders of wonders. The pod opened, turned green and lived again. Resurrected! We have received 217 beds since we started in October To donate furniture and appliances call the SVdP donation phone at Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you have a car or van you would be willing to donate, please contact Paul Guenin. Washers and dryers are also in short supply, and the SVdP Distribution Center will accept units for checkout and repair regardless of condition. Parish Life The family of George Hurt would like to thank Father Mike and Father Dave for the love and support you gave dad. We also want to thank the choir for the beautiful music at the funeral and the funeral food committee for the delicious meal that was provided. St. Christopher has been close to dad s heart for many years. We appreciate everything that was done to make his passing to the Lord so meaningful and full of love. 5 Speedway Home Build Information Speedway Home Build Fuller Center for Housing St. Chris has been asked to help build a new home in Speedway. The home will be located at 5132 West 10th Street. It is a wonderful project and the new home will be given to one of our parishioners. The Fuller Center for Housing is sponsoring the project and partnering with Allison Transmission to build the new home. Allison Transmission is donating $30,000 to the project. The men and women from Allison will do the actual construction of the home from June 3 to June 14. Various trades are contributing their skills and supplies. The work will be supervised and organized by Westport Homes. We are asked to be involved in three ways: 1. Saturday, May 11, assemble the framing for the house. Registration will be from 7-8:00 a.m. and work begins at 8:00 a.m. This will take place on the Allison Test Track at 10th & Cossell Rd. We need approximately 30 men and women who can use a hammer and saw. The time commitment will be about three hours or less. 2. Provide box lunches at noon for of the workers from Allison Monday through Friday (June 3 to June 7) and the following week Monday through Thursday (June 10 to June 13). 3. Provide morning coffee, donuts and snacks for of the workers delivered each morning at 7:00 a.m. from June 3 to June 14. The Fuller Center for Housing of Central Indiana is a Christian based non-profit corporation that exists to repair and renovate substandard housing for the purposes of eliminating poverty housing, eliminating homelessness, and revitalizing Central Indiana s urban neighborhood. The recipients of a new home use their sweat equity as their down payment. Below is a picture of what the house will resemble and a schematic of the floor plan.
