1 Thank you for worshipping with us. We hope that you found our service meaningful and inspiring and our people warm and welcoming! We would love to see you again! Here are a few things to know about our church: We believe in grace. We believe in the forgiving grace of God. We also believe in extending grace toward one another. That means that we can be authentic about who we are and the things about which we struggle. In a world that admires getting ahead, we believe Christ is the one who makes us whole. We are all equal in our need for him. There are many places in our church life where you can receive and extend grace - retreats, small groups, worship services, Sunday School classes, mission trips, ministry opportunities. We love to study. We have several Bible Studies being taught both in the evenings and in the day time. Some are topical: others focus on a particular part of Scripture. You don t need to be a member of our church to join any of our studies. We love kids! We feel very strongly about providing for our children and youth everything they need to develop a strong faith and be equipped to face the world. Our children s ministry uses a variety of ways to instill the Word of God into the heart of a child. It dramatically shapes a child's life and it is just plain fun! There is a place for you. It doesn t matter where you have been or what you have done. You may feel far from God or closer than you have ever been. If you do not have a church home, we invite you to be a part of what God is doing in us and through us. We thank you for visiting. 16/May 7, th Sunday of Easter Week of May 7, 2017 OUR MISSION: The mission of Windcrest United Methodist Church is to make new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. 6 If you missed the 10am Youth-Led Worship Service last week- you truly missed out on a wonderful service! The Youth planned and executed a well put together worship experience. They did us proud! Thank you Deb Mayes for being our piano accompanist. Thank you to all who attended and supported the Youth. It meant a lot to have their church family attend. Look forward to a Children Led Worship Service in July! Blessings, Dawn Crews- Director- Children & Youth Ministry May Mission Focus For 75 years, UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) has been serving as the hands and feet of Christ bringing relief to a world in need of hope. Founded in 1940 as a small committee whose goal was to respond to widespread suffering experienced in World War II, UMCOR became the voice of conscience among Methodists in response to such hardships. UMCOR continues to bring hope and care to those in need around the world from the steadfast belief that all people have God-given worth and dignity. Whenever there are disasters, we as the body of Christ can give to help others through UMCOR. If you feel called to help, please write a check to WUMC and mark it UMCOR. No amount is too small. Thank you and God bless. Dear Church family, The Pantry would like to thank you for your continued support. The need to keep our pantry stocked is about to became greater. 7 Sunday School Are you interested in a deep, authentic relationship with Jesus? This is a 4 week study of the following: As part of the Baked Potato and Salad Lunch Fundraiser on May 7th we will have a discussion on the Leadership Model of Windcrest UMC also known as the One Board. This discussion will briefly go over the history of when we established this model and then go into how we use this model for our leadership decisions. We will then go into the status of church and discuss the ministries we are involved in and how we are tracking our progress. Hope to see you there. Dan Reese, Chairman, Windcrest UMC Church Council You must be broken to be whole You must mourn to be happy You must be authentic to be accepted You must be empty to be filled Kyle Idleman a teaching pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky challenged us to pick up our cross and die to ourself. What does that actually mean?? Well come to the M & M Sunday School class starting May 7, 2017, 9:30 in room 303 in the McClung Bldg to find out. Great discussions. AGAPE NEEDS YOUR HELP Jesus said, what we do for the least, we do in his name. Agape is in dire need of more volunteers. Both Agape and our resale store the Fig Leaf need you. Are you able to find three hours in the week to help us keep our doors open? Due to illness and our aging volunteer base, we are finding it necessary to reduce hours for assistance. We are the only ministry in the northeast who is open five days a week. Help us keep our doors open. Please volunteer. We have many different areas you can help in, for more information please contact the Ken, Agape director at or Pat Ridenour /May 7, 2017 Scrip cards are available for sale all year! For more information go to: SATURDAY, MAY 13th 8:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13 is the date for the next Church-Wide Work Day sponsored by the Trustees committee. The day begins at 8:00 a.m. and will continue until the work has been completed. Some of the jobs we have lined up include: painting the railings on the McClung Building, power washing walls/sidewalks, picking up trash and other debris around the campus, trimming trees, cleaning windows inside and outside, moving of furniture in the McClung Building (the furniture was moved when the new floors were installed and never put back where it all belongs), and possibly more to come. Everyone is invited to come out and help make our church beautiful! If you aren t physically able to do the labor but would like to help out, we will accept monetary donations to pay for supplies and for snacks and lunch for the volunteers. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Marcy at the church office or m.williams@windcrestumc.org. Thanks!
