3 Psalm 78 Dr. Angela Batey, cantor Daw Hear my teaching, O my people; incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will declare the mysteries of ancient time. (R) That which we have heard and known, and what our forefathers have told us, we will not hide from their children. We will recount to generations to come the praise worthy deeds and the power of the Lord, and the wonderful works he has done. (R) He gave his decrees to Jacob and established a law for Israel, which he commanded them to teach their children; that the generations to come might know, and the children yet unborn; and they in their turn might tell it to their children; so that they might put their trust in God, and not forget the deeds of God, but keep his commandments. (R) A Moment with the Children (11:00) Rev. Matt Nieman Anthem (11:00) Ode to Joy Farragut Ring Tones Gospel Reading Luke 21:1-4 The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon Putting In Rather Than Taking Out Rev. Matt Nieman

4 ~The Response~ *Affirmation of Faith (adapted from 2 Corinthians 9) He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply our seed for sowing and increase the harvest of our righteousness. We will be enriched in every way for our generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God. Harlan Chancel Choir The text for this anthem may be found in The Hymnal, #551 Please stand when indicated and join the choir on the final verse: Even so, Lord, quickly come, bring thy final harvest home; Gather all thy people in, free from sorrow, free from sin, There, forever purified, in thy presence to abide. Come, with all thine angels, come, raise the glorious harvest home. 7 Sunday School 9:45 Class Room Topic Children Education Wing Pre-K and Elementary classes use Whirl, where children practice reading the Bible and discerning what God is saying to them thru a fun DVD Youth Adult Bible Study Class Monday Connection Pastor Matt s Class Moving Meditation Chair Yoga Class Education Wing Room A Parlor Library Room 3 in Education Wing enhanced curriculum. Youth will use Connect, a quirky DVD series which launches students into discussions of reading the Bible from a Reformed perspective. We use The Present Word. This fall s study is about the major covenants throughout the Bible, from Noah s rainbow to our own Lord s Supper. Each lesson stands alone, so come when you can. We are using a Great Courses series on The Old Testament presented by Amy-Jill Levine. As scripture or as the most influential piece of literature ever written, this book is a source of constant wonder, inspiration, and intrigue. This course introduces and analyzes the spiritual content of top films from the 1980s through the 2010s, opening viewers up to a conversation about life, faith, and God. This beginner chair yoga class modifies traditional yoga poses so they can be done while seated in a chair, or standing while using a chair for balance. This class will begin with prayer and end with spiritual meditation.

8 Presbyterian Women will be collecting Infant through Adult size hats, scarves, gloves and mittens during the month of November and early December for the store at Sunset Gap. These items may be either handmade or purchased. Sunset Gap provides these items at no charge to needy individuals. Items should be placed in the box in the Narthex. A Congregational Meeting will take place next Sunday, November 19 immediately after both worship services for the purpose of electing Session Elder Class of 2020 candidates Bev Lomax, Jimmy Loyless, Brenda Luggie, Gale Montgomery, Carolyn Neighbors and Rick Van Allen, and also the 2018 Nominating Committee. Rockers: Fun, food and fellowship for those 50+. Sign-up sheets are in the narthex. Come join us! Daytime Rockers: Thursday, November 16 at 11:30 at Puleo s in Cedar Bluff. Are you feeling called to be a good listener to someone in need? Our church is proud to be a Stephen Ministry congregation, offering one-onone care to those experiencing difficulty or loss. We are in need of additional trained Stephen Ministers. Join us for an informational session on Sunday, November 19 at 9:45 in the Fellowship Hall. Come and learn what Stephen Ministers do, how valuable they are, and what a possible training course might look like. Maybe God is calling you to this special ministry...

9 On Sunday, November 19 at 3:00 we are excited to present our annual Christmas Festival!
