A pre-baptism class must be attended prior to the date of baptism. Baptisms are held at 12pm on the 2nd Sunday of each month, and at all Masses on the 3rd weekend of each month. Baptisms during Advent/Lent are held after the 10:30am Mass on the 2nd and 3rd weekends of the month. Contact the Parish Office for more information. Marriage Couples must contact the parish priest at least six months prior to the date of marriage. Catholic parties must be registered and practicing members of the parish for at least six months prior to the start of marriage preparation. Reconciliation Saturdays at 3:30pm or at any time by appointment. Home Visits, In the Hospital, Anointing of the Sick If you are homebound, hospitalized, or prior to hospitalization, and would like a visit from the Pastoral Staff or need Anointing of the Sick, please contact the Parish Office. Our priests and ministers will be happy to make a pastoral visit if you wish. Adoration of the Blessed Eucharist Tues. 9am-7pm in St. Joseph Chapel (CFC)
2 Last Weekend to register for the Christian Formation programs at St. Anthony without paying late fees! Information and registration forms for all CF classes are available on our parish website. Go to click on Education and then Registration to view and print out the information and forms. All registration forms are due on or before July 15 th NOTE WELL: There will be a $25 late registration fee for those who register after July 15th and before August 15th. For registrations received after August 15 th, there will be a $50 late fee. All late fees must be paid at the time of registration. Time again for the annual St. Vincent de Paul collection of school supplies for children of needy families in Waukesha County. You can help by donating new supplies such as glue, crayons, rulers, pencils, and erasers. Backpacks, notebooks, folders, and filler paper are especially needed. Place your donations in the box in the Gathering Space starting July 14 through August 5. The items will be sorted into packets by grade level for distribution to families of needy children. Monetary donations are also needed and will be used to provide vouchers for shoes. Contributions for this should be put in an envelope for the collection basket and marked Back to School. 3 (Archbishop s message from July 3, 2018) Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness That to secure these Rights, Governments are ins tuted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destruc ve of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to ins tute new Government, laying the founda on on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness. This second paragraph from the Declara on of Independence defines the basis of our independence from England. Every genera on that has followed must claim its contribu on to the con nuance of the sen ments expressed by our founding fathers. This fledgling democracy becomes the experiment of self-government, which will become the envy of the world. However, I firmly believe that any altering or destruc on of our freedoms will not come from enemies outside, but through ignorance, neglect and apathy from those within. I am old enough to remember Russian Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev. It was the Cold War, and his visit to the United States and the United Na ons produced fear in many Americans. He boldly proclaimed that he would not need to conquer the United States through warfare or armed aggression. Instead, the United States would fall through its own internal weaknesses. Khrushchev would not be around when Pope John Paul II, President Ronald Reagan, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and their leadership would challenge and confront world communism and the destruc on of the Soviet Union. Down went the wall. However, Khrushchev was right in saying that internal forces created the real threat to the well-being of our country. A country that forgets its roots loses the resolve to defend the freedoms which the founders established as God-given. I would further offer forget God, and you can forget your freedoms. On July 4, I will be celebra ng a Mass at St. Dominic Parish in Brookfield. My prayer will be for the protec on of religious freedom in our country. It has been obvious to me that for some me our religious freedom is under a ack. Tradi onal Chris anity, in par cular, has been characterized as the enemy to progress secularism. I find it ironic that poli cal leaders who challenge the Church s teachings on life and tradi onal marriage between a man and woman will embrace much of the Church s social principles. It is a smorgasbord approach to religious teachings choose what you like and condemn the rejected. Our society needs religion. George Washington recognized that religion created the underpinning of our responsibility to one another and to ourselves, stabilizing our society in an accountability over and above selfinterest. In honor of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, allow me to close with Washington s prayer for the United States of America: Almighty God, we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protec on, that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the ci zens to cul vate a spirit of subordina on and obedience to government, and entertain a brotherly affec on and love for one another and for their fellow ci zens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do jus ce, to love mercy and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteris cs of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without humble imita on of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy na on. Grant our supplica on we beseech Thee through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen. Let us exercise our religious freedom by following Christ s command to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
