Club 56 (5th and 6th Graders) Join us tomorrow night, May 1, from 6-8pm for food Olympics! Youth will compete in a variety of food related games. Habakkuk Study - A new Bible Study for women - join us Thursdays 9:30am. This 5-week study takes a look at what the Old Testament prophet Habakkuk has to teach us about our prayer life today. Document Shredding and Clothing Drive Event - Stephanie Shields and her team from Thrivent are hosting a document shredding service and taco lunch for clients and friends. Also bring gently used men s and women s clothing, shoes, handbags, and jewelry to be donated to the local charity, Women Helping Women and Men to Work. This will take place on Saturday, May 06, 2017 from 10:00am - 1:30pm in the Christ Lutheran Church parking lot. Lunch will be served from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Rebel leader, prophet, lawgiver - Moses is a towering figure in the history of Israel. In one transcendent moment in the desert, God calls him from the life of a shepherd to life of a nation builder, sending him to confront the Pharaoh and free God's people from slavery in Egypt. In this retelling of the Exodus story, we tried to capture in humor and song the humanity of Moses, Miriam, Aaron, Joshua, and the Pharaoh - as well as communicating the eternal truths within the story. 5 Sermon-Based Bible Study Share 1. What are some experiences in your life that really shook you up? Were you able to deal with them? What did you do? Did your faith make a difference? 2. How does change usually effect you? Do you roll with it? Does it throw you for a loop? Do you finally get there in time? Study Read John Who appears to be the leader of this group? Why do you think the other disciples are following him after everything that happened? 2. What is the significance of not catching even a single fish? What do we learn about doing things on our own strength and then doing things on God s power? 3. Why do you think the disciples did not recognize Jesus as He stood on the shore? What are some things that keep you from seeing Jesus in your day-to-day life? 4. Since they didn t know it was Jesus, why do you think they obeyed him and threw out their nets again? Why does Peter jump out of the boat when he hears it is Jesus? 5. What do you think is going through Peter s mind as he is swimming to shore? Does this say anything about the feelings Peter has for Jesus? How could we be more like Peter in our own relationship with Jesus? When was the last time your jumped and ran to spend time with your Savior? 6. Why do you think John recorded the exact number of fish? 7. Why do you think John mentioned breakfast? What importance does this hold for us? 8. Look carefully at Jesus question to Peter in v. 15. To whom or what do you think Jesus is referring when He says these? What is Peter s response? How does it differ from Peter s earlier statements (Matthew 26:33 and John 13:37?) 9. Why do you think Jesus asked Peter three questions? What is Peter feeling? Do each of the three questions mean the same thing or is there a different purpose for each? 10. After each of Peter s responses, Jesus gives a command. How are they the same? Different? 11. What significance do these commands have for us in the church today? 12. After what happened to Peter, why do you think Jesus told Peter how he would die? What is Peter s reaction? Why? 13. Despite Peter s denial and failures, Jesus restores him rather than replace him. How important is it that we know our sins are forgiven and we are restored? Support 1.
