4 Stewards of God s Grace The end of all things is at hand; therefore, be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4: 7-11) To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. (2 Peter 1: 1-2) I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) FAITHFUL STEWARDS OF GOD S GRACE 1. Are self-controlled and sober-minded 2. Pray The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. (Psalm 145:18-19) Let us then approach God s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16) 3. Love 4. Serve And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8) With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them. (Acts 4:33) Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24) Scan the QR code or simply download the YouVersion app on your phone. Select the More option, then select Events and search Christ Lutheran Costa Mesa to follow the service in worship electronically.
5 Sermon-Based Bible Study Share Spend a few minutes chitchatting about the sermon and getting caught up in one another s lives. Study: Read 1 Peter 4: What is the meaning of verse 1. What are we told to do in verse 1? Why? 2. What are we expected to do since He has suffered (just look in verse 1)? 3. How does God use difficult times in our present or future Christian lives (1 Peter 4:2)? 4. How might the lack of suffering affect our church? 5. How does Peter describe the ways of the Gentiles (literally 'nations') How true is this? 6. Have any of you shared the experience noted in verse 4? 7. What reason do we have not to join them (5)? 8. Verse 4:6 is links up to verse 3:18. How does this relate to the materialists who view this life as the only life that exists? 9. What is fast approaching (7)? How should this affect our lives? 10. What does it mean to be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers? 11. What I the command given in 1 Peter 4:8? Why is this important (also see the same verse)? Why do you think Peter says "above all' in verse 8? 12. Describe the three spiritual ways of serving mentioned (9,11). What special advice does Peter give with each one of them? 13. What is the general principle that we need to keep in mind as we use our spiritual gift (10)? Support With self-control and a sober mind, pray with and for one another.
