Call to Worship Isaiah 6:1-3 Leader: People: ALL: In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."

2 ** Glorifying God in Song Holy, Holy, Holy Hymn #100 ** The Invocation ** The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 3 The First Scripture Lesson Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. Memorial Day the Pothoven s Join hosts Steve and Tami Pothoven for a Memorial Day open house swim Monday, May 25. Gentle swim 10am-12pm for families with any children preschool age or under (to cut down on the number of older children rockin' the waters). Open swim 12pm-4pm for families with older kids. No kids-adults only swim 7pm-10pm (heated pool) for singles and couples to relax and visit Oasis Palm Drive, Tampa, RSVP appreciated, but not required **Bring your favorite snack to share, and add to the fun.** VBS News! This year s Vacation Bible School, which will be held June 22 through June 26, is fast approaching and we still need lots of helpers! Volunteer positions that need to be filled include: five (5) adult group leaders, an adult to teach Bible stories along with Donna Waugh, three (3) or four (4) people to help with the Friday evening closing program and, painters! There will be a VBS painting day for decorating the halls and Fellowship Hall on May 30 at 9am until??. Any amount of time you can give in helping on the 30th is appreciated. 7 Camp News! Summer Camp is quickly approaching! Southland Student Conference will be hosting both our Middle School and High School summer camps. High School Elevate at Covenant College July 10-15, 2009 Cost (w/ transportation): The following costs are dependent upon receiving a $50 deposit by June 26 (Regular) $380; after June 26 (Late) $405. Middle School Conference at Camp Kulaqua July 20-24, 2009 Cost: The following costs are dependent upon receiving a $50 deposit by June 26 (Regular) $340; after June 26 (Late) $360. Need Some Work Done? HELP SEND A STUDENT TO CAMP Summer Camp is an awesome time for our students to hear the Word of God, be refreshed by the gospel, develop relationships with others who love the Lord, and have great fun in the process. But... camp is getting more expensive. This can be hard on families sending one, two, or three kids to camp. The good news is that our students aren t looking for a handout. They are willing to WORK in order to EARN money for camp. Isn t that cool? So if you have any yard work, cleaning, painting, car washing, or other odd jobs for a middle school or high school age student, please give Danny a call (or send an ) and he will put you in contact with the parents of a student who wants to work. *We do recommend $10/hour and, if possible, having student s work in pairs. 8 Children s Ministries Summer Sunday School There is one more position to fill for Children s Summer Sunday School!!! The Summer term for Children will run from June 7 through August 30. To volunteer, or for more information, please contact Jackie Toenes. The positions available is: Teacher Assistant, 1 st 3 rd Grade Open Upcoming Adult Summer Sunday School Class! Faith Lessons: In the Dust of the Rabbi Walk as Jesus walked Taught by: Randy Johnson Walk through the land that Jesus and his disciples walked. Follow a rabbi, drink in his words, and be covered in the dust of his feet. So says an ancient Jewish proverb, encouraging disciples to follow right on the heels of their teacher. In this delightful DVD study, journey with Ray Vander Laan on-location to Israel and Turkey. Learn about the first-century practice of a Jewish rabbi and his disciples ("talmidim"), and gain new insight into the message of Christ. See how following Christ demands a zeal for the text and a complete devotion to Christian community. Also, in Walk as Jesus walked, discover the true historical context of the Bible, notably Paul as he spread news of Jesus and brought new disciples to follow Him. See how our early Christian brothers and sisters had a consuming desire to be like the Rabbi, every day. This class will be taught by Elder Randy Johnson in the High School Library at 9:30 am beginning on Sunday, June 7.

In fact, the terms follow & follower have some bad connotations. Don t follow the crowd, we urge. But in his Gospel, John unashamedly calls us to be good followers. In order to do this, we first must know whom we follow. John tells us this clearly: we follow Jesus, the Lord of glory. John also tells us where & why we follow. Our destination is the glory Jesus has prepared for us. We follow Christ, out of gratefulness, because of what He has done for us. Come join Elder Joe DeNitto in the High School Library for this 12-week class, meeting at 9:30 a.m. Walden Class: Judges The Walden Adult Sunday School Class is studying the Old Testament book of Judges, which emphasizes character rather than Jewish history. Judges is a great place to examine God's interaction in the lives of sinful men and women and how He accomplishes His purposes through some very questionable characters. The relevance for today is the insight we receive for our own lives. All the intrigue of human nature is there for us to see, and be blessed by how our Saving Lord guides history through a rebellious people falling away from His loving hand. This Old Testament Book has up to date information for us to use in every day life. So come join this class for some exciting study, you will be glad you did! The Walden Class meets in Room 114.
