We are a partnership between St. Cecilia and Interfaith CarePartners and are one of 58 participating congregations that offer 3 1/2 hours of respite from the challenges of caring for a loved one with dementia while they enjoy games, crafts, entertainment lunch and other fun activities. The Gathering Place is celebrating another milestone. July 2017 marks the 12 year anniversary since we first started the Alzheimer's Care Team Gathering Place at St. Cecilia's. Although the real meaning of the team's service lies in the relationships of care and compassion for the care partners they have served, we at Interfaith CarePartners would like to recognize the scope of your parishioners' commitment to serving your congregation and the community. The number of people served and the hours of care donated are only one expression of their dedication. We believe that you and the congregation will applaud their efforts and join us in celebrating their accomplishments. Number of care partners and their caregivers who received support: 197 Number of hours of care the team donated since originally formed in: ,615+ I am bringing these remarkable accomplishments to your attention with the hope that it may be possible for your congregation to take advantage of the team's anniversary to affirm this ministry undertaken on behalf of the congregation and the community. We greatly appreciate the privilege to share this ministry to families with memory loss. The love, commitment, and compassion of each volunteer are testaments to their faith and answer the call to care for our brothers and sisters in need of our support. Religious Education for Children Faith Formation (CCE) for children with special needs: This is the third year we offer this class. If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, please contact Rosemary Munoz at rmunoz@saintcecilia.org or call KIDs Club News (CCE): We are very excited to announce the new CCE name, KIDs Club. We also have a new family faith formation registration form. Parents can register children for KIDs Club, Edge and Life Teen all on the same form. With some of the new changes we thought it would be a good opportunity to rename CCE. Family registration forms are available in the church office or on the church website. Children s Liturgy of the Word: There will not be Children s Liturgy of the Word in July. We invite and welcome children ages kindergarten through grade 4 to hear the Word of God from the Children s Lectionary. For this to be offered every Sunday, more leaders are needed. Youth Ministry (High School) We ask for two things: We will be posting our open Middle School Faith Formation Associate position until July 28th. 9 FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME July 16, 2017 Page 9 Volunteering Opportunities St. Vincent de Paul Energized by the awareness that service to our brother or sister in need is, in fact, an encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ, members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are keenly aware that poverty, suffering, and loneliness are present for millions in our communities. For that reason, we collaborate with all who seek to relieve need and address its causes. St. Cecilia s St. Vincent de Paul NEEDS YOU! We need volunteers to work the office Mondays through Thursdays from 9:30 - noon and to make visits to those in need on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. These visits are vital to ministering to those in need and to assess and provide for their needs in the best way possible. Come be a disciple with us! Please call Jim Studdert, President at for more information. A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just. Pope Francis The Gabriel Project Help a pregnant mother in need! The Gabriel Project needs Spanish-speaking telephone volunteers to take calls from pregnant mothers for 4 hours per week. We will train you to be the Good Samaritan to these moms and know the joy of helping them to trust God and give life to their child. You can take the phone calls in your home, which makes it very easy to participate in this corporal work of mercy. You must be able to use the internet. Please call Cathy McConn at or her at cathymcconn@mac.com. KIDs Club Volunteers needed Teachers, classroom aides and hall monitors are needed for the upcoming school year. No experience is necessary just a desire to share your faith with the children of our parish. All volunteers for children s programs are required to attend a VIRTUS workshop and background check. Please go to to find a location and register.
