The program is available for children in pre-k through grade 5. Classes are available on Wednesday evenings from 6:15-7:30 p.m. in both Spanish and English and on Sunday s at 9:30-10:45 a.m. in English and 11:30-12:45 in Spanish. Children are placed in grade level classes located in the parish school. Each grade has a lead Catechist and classroom aide. Many of our classes have two catechists that alternate teaching. This is ideal for many of our volunteers. The books used in KIDs Club are a bilingual edition of Be My Disciples from RCL/ Benziger, a well-respected Catholic publisher. Be My Disciples is an innovative and complete religious education program that empowers students and their families to answer the call to discipleship. Each year builds on the previous year and supports a well-rounded faith development for our children. Be My Disciples invites children to discipleship in Christ. We cover scripture, doctrine, and liturgical celebration as well as building an understanding of how to live a Catholic Christian life. It is the goal of KIDs Club to support parents in fulfilling their call: Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children. They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and disinterested service are the rule. The home is well suited for education in the virtues. Women's Club: Potluck Luncheon St. Cecilia Nursery The St. Cecilia Nursery welcomes you and thanks you for entrusting us with your child s care. The Nursery is a free service that opens 15 minutes before the 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 1:00 pm Masses on Sunday for children ages four months to 5 years. The Nursery also offers childcare for church-sponsored weekday and evening events with prior reservations from the event coordinator for children ages four months to 11 years. In addition, the Nursery offers childcare for Parents Night Out. Parents Night Out is a ministry that promotes marriage enrichment once a month 5pm- 9:30 pm. On these dates, spouses have the opportunity to have a quality one-on-one date together while their children make new friends, have fun, and are fed. Separate registration and a small fee are required and are dependent on availability. For the registration packet, Martina Razo. RCIA Have you thought about becoming a Catholic? We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. 6 Faith Formation for Children Rosemary Munoz: Cecilia Morillo: Children s Faith Formation programs and events are for children in pre-k 4 through grade 5. Faith Formation (CCE) for children with special needs: This is the third year we are offering this class. Contact us if you or someone you know can benefit from this program. KIDs Club Schedule: September 9th, 23rd and 30th: Sunday 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. sessions September 12th and 26th: Wednesday 6:15 p.m. session September 16th is Catechetical Sunday. Those that teach the faith will be commissioned at the 9:00 am.1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Masses. KIDs Club Volunteers: Volunteers are needed for the Special Needs class and KIDs Club. 7 Youth Ministry News High School David Thies: Registration for Life Teen Registration for Life Teen and Confirmation preparation is OPEN! Forms are on our website. Please remember that youth must register each year. There will be a mandatory meeting for ALL parents on Tuesday, 21st at 9 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Room. You can choose which meeting works best for you. At this meeting you will get to meet the Youth Ministers, hear more about the ministry, and get your questions answered. Militia Mariae Kickoff Saturday 25th 6 pm - 10 pm Militia Mariae is for those Confirmed Juniors and Seniors that are ready to help lead at St. Cecilia! There are three characteristics that we focus on for these young men and women to learn to incorporate into their lives: SERVANT, LEADER, & DISCIPLE. We ask that they apply to be in Militia Mariae and register for Life Teen. It is a great opportunity for Confirmed Youth to start/continue serving in the Church. Freshmen Retreat October 12-14, Pine Cove Columbus, TX The freshmen retreat (October 12-14) is AWESOME! The retreat theme is Psalm 139 and the retreat is meant to build up the youth as they begin this new chapter in high school! The cost is $135 and scholarships are available for the retreat. Registration forms are in the youth room. Confirmation Retreat Registration (Nov. 2-4 or Feb. 1-3) A Confirmation Retreat is REQUIRED for all youth getting Confirmed. We offer two options for retreats so that you can choose which one works best for your youth. This retreat will have Mass, Eucharistic adoration, confession, quiet prayer time, engaging talks, community building fun and so much more! 9 Weekly Announcements & News September 17 & October 5 at 7:00 pm Training for NEW Extra-ordinary Ministers of the Eucharist has been scheduled, and a number of opportunities to attend will be offered. These lay ministers assist the regular ministers of the Eucharist (the ordained) with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist to the faithful at Mass, as well as those in the hospital or the homebound. The requirements for serving as an EMHC are: Training for NEW Extra-ordinary Ministers of the Eucharist 18 years of age or a senior in high school. A fully initiated Catholic. Living a life in communion with the teachings of the Catholic Church. If married, must be a Catholic mariage. Administrative Assistant Position for the Liturgy & Music Department Summary: St. Cecilia is looking for a full-time Administrative Assistant for the Liturgy and Music Department. The Administrative Assistant works closely with the Director as well as the Liturgy and Music Staff to support them in providing organized and well-executed liturgy and music for the parish community. A well-qualified applicant will possess excellent administrative skills, intermediate to advanced computer competency, general knowledge of the Roman Catholic Liturgy as well as some music theory. Some nights and weekends will be required, with some flexibility in weekly schedule possible. Qualifications: High School diploma/ged required Minimum of one year experience assisting in Liturgy and Music, or similar ministry General understanding of Roman Catholic liturgy and knowledge of music theory Ability to communicate bilingually in English and Spanish, both in writing and orally, preferred Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Publisher A more detailed job description is available upon request.
