Our parish strives to make a return to the Lord for all the good He has done for us through the Stewardship of Time, Talent, and Treasure. All of our parishioners are encouraged to count their blessings each day and to make a sacrificial return through the parish offertory, and by compassionately serving one another s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Mass Schedule: Weekend: Saturday Vigil - 4:30 PM Sunday - 7:30, 9:00, 10:30, 12:00 noon Weekdays and Holy Days: as announced in bulletin Reconciliation: Saturday - 3:15 to 4:00 PM Sunday - 8:15 AM PARISH MEMBERSHIP: Active parish membership is both necessary and helpful to all involved when seeking sponsorship certificates, Marriage or Baptism preparations. Please call the rectory to register or to report address or phone number changes. HOSPITAL VISITS: Please have someone notify the rectory when you or a family member is hospitalized. BAPTISM: Parents must attend a Baptism Prep Class before the Baptism of their child. Classes are held on Sunday in the months of Feb., Apr., Jun., Aug., Oct., and Dec., and Baptisms are held once a month. Psalm My soul rejoices in my God (Luke 1:46-50, 53-54). Second Reading Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophetic utterances. Test everything; retain what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:16-24). 3 Third Sunday of Advent Page Three REJOICE Isaiah proclaims truly good news to us! God s coming brings not sadness, guilt, fear, wrath, or condemnation. No, God s coming is a source of comfort and joy. Saying it once is not enough, for today s readings are full of joy. Mary s Magnificat substitutes for our psalm today, and our second reading encourages us to rejoice, to give thanks and praise. This is the root meaning of the Greek word for eucharist. We are urged to rejoice and give thanks, because the coming of the Lord brings joy, healing, liberty, release, vindication. It makes the very earth spring up with new life! Good tidings! St. Vincent de Paul Society: Meets every second Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM in the convent. Parishioners are welcome to visit a meeting! Members take part in the activities of their choice, including helpful visits to families and persons in need, or some of the services found below. All services need new helpers! Clothing Center: The Clothing Center has resumed service and is now accepting fall and winter clothing, footwear and linens. Food Project: Parishioners donate bags of non-perishable foods and toiletries in bins at the church entrances. Volunteers bring these to the convent where members sort and store it for the needy families we visit and for food pantries. Envelopes for money or gift cards are at the bins. Family Matters: The True Meaning: Jesus is the reason for the season. During this Christmas time commit yourself to sharing the true meaning of Christmas with your family. God shared fully his love by becoming Human. We too can share His love by being like Christ to on another. Pray For One Another. Partnership with Share Care: Parish drivers provide rides for elderly and handicapped parishioners. New drivers are welcome! Need a ride? Requests must be made at least two week in advance. Call Share Care at , identify as a St. Anne s Parishioner. Charismatic Prayer Group - NEW - schedule: Weekly Meeting: The Exaltation of the Holy Cross Charismatic Prayer Group will henceforth meet every Tuesday, evening at 6:30 PM. in the Rectory chapel of St. Anne Church. Monthly Mass for Anointing of the Holy Spirit: The next Mass for Anointing of the Holy Spirit will be January 9th, 7:00 PM at St. Anne s Church. Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Clifton Bishop, Jr - Diocesan Liaison for Charismatic Renewal and Associate Pastor, St. Anne. Adoration and Confessions from 6-7 PM. Any and all inquires, please call St. Anne Rectory. Christmas Gifts For The Needy: Last year generous donations from the parish made possible wonderful Christmas gifts to the children served by St. Anne s Parish St. Vincent de Paul Society. We ask that parish members again offer to sponsor a family. Checks of any amount, made to St. Anne s may be enclosed in an envelope marked Gifts: SVdP in the memo and placed in the collection baskets. Oplatki (Christmas Bread): Packets (2 per Pack) of Oplatki are available in the Rectory Office and after all Masses for $2 per packet. The use of the Christmas Bread is a beautiful Old World tradition used at the Christmas Eve supper and still celebrated in many ethnic homes in our country.

4 I ll be Home for Christmas Message from Bishop Alfred A. Schlert I warmly welcome all Catholics home for Christmas. No matter how long since your last visit, your spiritual home awaits you ready and waiting to welcome you home! I invite all my brother priests, deacons, religious, and practicing Catholics, through their example of holiness, perseverance, and joy, to be a source of encouragement to their brothers and sisters away from their spiritual home, and to invite one inactive Catholic back home for Christmas. Due to the lack of storage space available, Catholic Charities ask that instead of donating specific items they ask that parishioner donate gift cards for stores that carry baby items. Suggested stores: Babies R Us, Kmart, Target, Walmart. Gift cards may be dropped off at the rectory or dropped in the collection basket. A 50-passenger motor coach will be leaving St. Anne s on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 7:30 AM and leaving Washington at approximately 4:30 PM to return to Bethlehem. The cost of the trip is $25 per person. The Knights of Columbus of St. Anne s have kindly donated to reduce the cost per person. Please join us to show your support for the unborn!
