Our parish strives to make a return to the Lord for all the good He has done for us through the Stewardship of Time, Talent, and Treasure. All of our parishioners are encouraged to count their blessings each day and to make a sacrificial return through the parish offertory, and by compassionately serving one another s physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Mass Schedule: Weekend: Saturday Vigil - 4:30 PM Sunday - 7:30, 9:00, 10:30, 12:00 noon Weekdays and Holy Days: as announced in bulletin Reconciliation: Saturday - 3:15 to 4:00 PM Sunday - 8:15 AM PARISH MEMBERSHIP: Active parish membership is both necessary and helpful to all involved when seeking sponsorship certificates, Marriage or Baptism preparations. Please call the rectory to register or to report address or phone number changes. HOSPITAL VISITS: Please have someone notify the rectory when you or a family member is hospitalized. BAPTISM: Parents must attend a Baptism Prep Class before the Baptism of their child. Classes are held on Sunday in the months of Feb., Apr., Jun., Aug., Oct., and Dec., and Baptisms are held once a month. 3 Third Sunday of Lent Page Three THIRSTING FOR LIFE-GIVING WATERS Especially during the Lenten, Holy Week, and Easter seasons, the prayer texts of the Eastern Church revel in paradoxical images of Christ: the eternal life who is put to death, the host of the supper who is also its meal, the thirsty crucified one with living water streaming from his side. These images flow from the evangelists portrayals of Jesus and from his very ministry, during which he often upset or reversed people s expectations about him or the ways of God. This reversal is at play in today s Gospel, as Jesus speaks to an enemy foreigner who is also a woman beneath his status. In addition he, the thirsting one, shows the woman to be the one truly thirsting. He whose parched lips will say I thirst before he dies is the source of life and life-giving water. Lent calls upon us to dwell on how each of us is thirsting for Christ, and it leads us, ultimately, back to the lifegiving waters of our baptism into his Body. Family Matters: It s more than just saying no! It s about creating a culture of acceptance and tolerance of others. It is not about political correctness. As church community we are committed to rejecting all forms of violence - especially in our schools, neighborhoods and communities. Reject prejudice! Our prayer today is that the Lord will make each of us a channel of His peace. You Pray For My Family and I Wil Pray For Yours. Deacon Gergar Children s Word: will be held on Mar. 26th at the 10:30 AM Mass. Children s Word is a celebration of the liturgy for all children 10 and under, they meet twice a month during Mass. You and your souse are invited to Behold Our Souls Proclaim the Greatness, a day of reflection for young adult married couples sponsored by the Office of Youth, Young Adult and Family Ministry. Delve into the meaning of marriage as a vocation and sacrament, learn how to grow as a couple through accountability and mutual support, and explore the benefits of engaging in a community of Catholic young adult married couples. The event will take place on Saturday, March 25 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at St. Francis Retreat House, Easton. The cost is $30 per couple and includes a light breakfast, lunch, and activities for the day. Childcare is available onsite (call office for details). Prayer/Care Day for Caregivers: On June 24th, a Prayer and Care Day for Caregivers will be held at St. Joseph Center for Special Learning, Pottsville. The morning will be devoted to talks given by Sr. Christen Shukwit, OSF on the Spirituality of Caregiving. After lunch a variety of activities for pampering the caregiver will be available. There is no charge to the caregiver for this day. If you are or know someone who is a Caregiver for a loved one who is ill or has a disability this day is for you. What does it mean to be human? This course will examine who God is as the One who seeks to share Himself with His creation. A brief survey of Salvation History will be traced to Jesus Christ, the Redeemer who saves humanity, and teaches us what it means to be a human person. This course will be presented by Rev. Eric Gruber and is scheduled form 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Wednesday, March 22, 29 & April 5 at Bethlehem Catholic High School. Cost: $30. Is an exciting new musical and finds its roots in the New Testament as it depicts God s call to the disciples and their response. The play will be held at Assumption B.V.M. The Xavier Company is a group of professional actors, singers and dancers in residence at St. Francis Xavier Church in Manhattan under the direction of Carol Ferrone.
