Every dollar helps those in need. If you have any questions or would like to make a gift, please call the parish office or visit the Appeal website at FaithHopeCharityGives.org. Serving Others in God s Love: Religious Freedom Week June 22-29, People of faith are committed to serving others in god s love in healthcare, child welfare, migration and refugee resettlement, education, and more. Religious freedom protects the space in which we can continue to serve. Religious Freedom Week begins June 22, the Feast of Sts. Thomas More & John Fisher. Join Catholics across the country to pray and act for the freedom to serve faithfully and with integrity. Learn more at TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The reign of God comes about because people commit to reversing their lives completely, to embracing new vision, new values. Many popular television shows exploit an unattractive side of human nature by pitting contestants against one another, even to the point of performing dangerous stunts or devious schemes, to gain money or favor. At the liturgy, we counter that impulse by committing ourselves to live generously. In response to Christ s total gift, we offer bread and wine as the emblems of our lives, our hopes, our joys and sorrows. The bread and wine carried to the altar contain our lives, and by offering our lives to God, we prepare to receive the gift of God s own life. We are to become what we receive: the body of Christ. On Sundays, this self giving is often accompanied by a collection and procession of gifts for the poor and money for the upkeep of the parish. There are certainly other methods of collecting money, some perhaps more efficient. Yet the acts of giving from our abundance and attending to the needs of the poor open us up to participation in the changes the Reign of God requires. Mary s Shelter Baby Bottle Campaign: St. Anne s is presently supporting Mary s Shelter by raising funds in a Baby Bottle Campaign between 5/26 and 7/1. If you have not already done so, please pick up a baby bottle from the bassinet in the vestibule. Take it home and place it in a prominent location and put your loose change (and paper currency!) inside. Take it back to the church on the weekend of 6/30-7/1 when we will collect all bottles. Mary s Shelter is located on Broad street in Bethlehem and provides a home for pregnant, homeless women, and also provides outreach to over 300 families with material needs as they prepare for a newborn. Thank you for your prayers and support, and contact Mark Napierkowski at with any questions. Volunteer - Make A Difference: Need community service hours for confirmation, school or just to do good? Volunteer with St. Anne Youth Group (for those entering 8-12 grades). You can find a list of upcoming opportunities on the tables by each exit. Please contact Krista Carson at kfcpac@verizon.net for more information or to register you child to volunteer.

4 Page Four THE MASTER STORYTELLER In today s Gospel, Jesus is presented to us as the master storyteller. He loved to use parables as a tool for comparing one thing to something else. In most of his parables, Jesus revealed who God is by comparing God s essence or actions with something familiar to his listeners. In the parable of the mustard seed, Jesus proclaims a marvelous and irrefutable truth. His small band of disciples, as insignificant as they may have felt, would one day produce a mighty kingdom whose growth was initiated by God. The seeds of this kingdom were planted by God and it is God who will harvest the fruit brought forth from those seeds. The extent of the growth of God s kingdom cannot be predicted. We must trust the work of the Master s hand as we, the mustard plant, grow and grow. Family Matters: As this school year ends, may families strive to grow closer together as they spend more time enjoying each other s company. We pray that the Lord will give each family time for play, reflection and growth in their love for each other. Pray For One Another. Priests Appreciation Luncheon: Join us as we honor our priests for all that they do for our parish.
