7 PRAYERS THE WORLD GAZA Pray for civilians living in this area affected by years of war. Many Palestinians of this generation have grown up not knowing a peaceful life. Families have lost members to the violence and struggle to get by without proper jobs and income. Many depend on international assistance for food and aid and all long for the day of peace to come. May the God of Peace shine his light on the people of Gaza and show the way to reconciliation. MISSIONS Pray for God s hand of blessing to be upon all who serve in the mission field. Praise God that our church members are able to help financially in supporting our mission partners. (20% of our donations go towards missions). Pray for our Missions and Outreach Committee as they review our commitments for SINGAPORE DIOCESE ST ANDREW S CATHEDRAL Pray for the Dean The Rt Revd Rennis Ponniah, the Vicar Revd Canon Terry Wong, the Clergy, Deaconesses and pastoral staff and congregation. For the Holy Spirit s leading as the Cathedral aspires to be a light to those who work in the city area, for the many foreign workers and tourists who visit and stop for moments of prayer. SINGAPORE Pray for all in authority, including Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong, that they may govern with wisdom, integrity and compassion. Presidential Elections 2017: Pray for the candidates who are standing and for a smooth transition into office. ST GEORGE S CHURCH FAMILY Pray for those in our extended Church community who are sick and suffering including Alicia Brown, Geoffrey Chiam, Noelle George and Tham Chaik Ming. Pray also for strength and patience for their carers. Pray for the family of the late Brian Jenner in their time of grief. We give thanks for Brian s work on our Parish Council, Mission to Seafarers and Christian Outreach to the Handicapped. Pray for us in our personal walk. That we will practise discernment and choose what is good and right over what is popular and safe. 10 ANNOUNCEMENTS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TODDLER TIME Are you free on Tuesday mornings? Do you love spending time with kids? Like working as part of a team? Keen to reach out to the community? On Tuesday mornings, the community comes to us! There are over 130 domestic helpers bringing over 130 babies and toddlers for church. During our 20 minute service for toddlers we have lots of actions songs, a short Bible message and simple prayers. Then the kids have time for play and snacks! Sounds fun???? It is! This is an eight-week course which explores Paul s letter to the Philippians and its call to live wholeheartedly for Christ. To register, e- mail Betty Wu de@stgeorges.org.sg or call MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT COURSE How to build a healthy relationship that lasts a lifetime. The Marriage Course started on Friday 8 th September and runs for 7 sessions. 7.30pm, $200/- per couple. This course is designed to help any couple strengthen their marriage, whether they have been married for 2 years, 20 years, 30 years or more. The DVD-based sessions feature talks by Nicky and Sila Lee from Holy Trinity Brompton and participating couples will work through exercises and discussions on their own after sharing a romantic dinner for two. LIFE EXPLORED helps us uncover what we re really living for, and shows how, in Christ, God meets our deepest desire for happiness. 11 THE MONUMENT TIMBER RESTORATION PROJECT Timber restoration work continuing as planned on the south facade (back of the Church building) although the vestry area has been completed. Please look out for changes to walkway arrangements. As always, please do not enter the hoarded area, and we encourage you to be extra vigilant from safety point of view. Scaffolding and hoarding on the west facade (car park side) have been erected to cover the entire facade. As a result, please note the following implications: 1) The entrance/exit closest to the back of the Church building has been cordoned off. 2) The west such that the car park lots have been reconfigured for whathas-become curb-side parallel parking (thereby much reduced lots). Please note that users will need to reverse into the parking area to use these reconfigured lots as there will not be sufficient turning space inside facade scaffold and necessary hoarding have occupied space 3) The entrance/exit closest to the front of the Church will remain operational, with a safety tunnel through the scaffolding. There are also implications for the interior and use of the Church building. The choir stalls have been rearranged for work to be done on the large timber louvres next to them. Scaffolding, hoarding and appropriate netting have been erected to safely facilitate the work whilst continuing the use of that part of the Church building. During weekdays, for convenience, to access the back of the Church building please use the route between the Church building and the Centre building (i.e. avoid the side car park route). Please continue to pray for safe and smooth progress of the timber restoration work. FLORAL ARRANGEMENT demonstration at Thursday Tea-time Fellowship, on 21 st September. A member of the church Floral Team will demonstrate how to prepare a table floral arrangement. All are welcome! CALL FOR CHRISTMAS This year s 9 Lessons and Carols Service is on 3 rd December at 7.30pm. We welcome singers for this great family event. Ability to pitch and read music will be an advantage.
