We are a welcoming community of faith, guided by the Holy Spirit and centered on God s Word and the Eucharist. Through the Sacraments, prayer, and the stewardship of our God-given gifts, we provide opportunities to grow closer to God and to serve members of the community.
2 Our Lady of Hope This Week LET US STRIVE TO OPENLY PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL MESSAGE WITH JOYFUL HEARTS Each of us is called to testify to the spirit of truth that is Jesus. When we give faithful witness, we hear in today s Gospel, Jesus says He will acknowledge us before the Father. Let us not be afraid to testify to our belief in Jesus FAITH Catholic-Publishing and Communications LITURGY OF THE WORD The Prophet Jeremiah reminds his listeners that he lives under constant threat from outsiders, but he is confident the Lord is with him. Saint Paul reminds the Romans that Adam brought sin and death into the world, but Jesus sacrificial act brought new life and a new creation. In Matthew s Gospel, Christ reminds His disciples to remain steadfast in their witness to the truth FAITH Catholic-Publishing and Communications STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT FOR THE TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME The Psalmist assures us that the Lord hears the poor. Often, however, He answers their need through the generous gifts of good stewards. VIRTUS TRAINING-PROTECT OUR CHILDREN! Virtus is a program that gives us a specific plan in identifying and preventing child sexual abuse. The training is required of all diocesan personnel and volunteers in all parishes. If you are a volunteer and still need to fulfill this obligation check the Long Island Catholic or the Diocesan website, for training sessions available in the area. Please register for the class online or stop in the Church office. Summer, for children, often means more unstructured time and maybe less supervision. Don t fall into the trap of letting social media and the internet become your child s connection for peer interactions. Commonsensemedia.org offers suggestions for safe on-line apps for children of all ages and tips for parents concerned about their children s internet use. The Office for the Protection of Children and Young People maintains a confidential phone line: We are available to help you or anyone who has been abused or victimized by someone representing the Catholic Church. All calls are responded to within 24 hours. Last Sunday s collection 6/11/17 $9, Same Last Year $7, Weekly amount needed $9, Last week s shortfall $ Attendance 6/11/ Same Last Year 612 Thank you for your generosity in returning to God some of what He has given you CATHOLIC MINISTRIES APPEAL Goal $53, Pledged $56, Paid $48, % of Goal pledged 106% % of Goal paid 92% Donors 179 (continued on page 3) 2
