Mass Bags Available: Jesus Mass bags are available for our children ages 2-5. Children are able to take a bag at the beginning of Mass, look at the books and activities, drawing and returning the bag at the end of Mass. MARRIAGE PREPARATION SESSIONS: One of the requirements for Marriage is to attend a Marriage Preparation session before the wedding. Advance in the ways of understanding. The Book of Proverbs places an invitation to put aside foolishness and seek understanding. The letter of Paul seems to give us insight into what is intended. Paul instructs to watch carefully how you live. Evil is present in the world. Pay attention that you are seeking to live in the spirit of God. As we continue to hear the Eucharistic theology of John, we might reflect on how the celebration of Eucharist involves two aspects of wisdom. The Word of God instructs us on the way of God. We are learning to know the commandments and the invitation to love one another as God loves us. This is wisdom so Paul reminds us to not ignore what we are hearing. If we are understanding this word, we will sing songs and psalms to God. Our hearts, filled with rejoicing, cause us to give thanks to God. In the gospel, we hear the second part of liturgy Eucharist. The path to know life is in Jesus. We are called to eat His body and drink His blood. This will help us to seek eternal life. The Eucharist is meant to see the presence of God and yearn to be united with Him. The meaning and purpose of life are revealed through this sacrifice. Without this meal, we have no life in us. As we celebrate Eucharist this day, how have we advanced in our understanding? How is this Eucharist leading us to yearn for heaven? Sharing news about the parish... A wish of God s peace is extended to the families and friends of Leon Moczarny. His funeral occurred Wednesday, August 12. May our prayers help to comfort those who mourn. May he rest in peace! In several weeks, we welcome the students of St. Anne School. As they begin a new school year, we will celebrate Mass with them. St. Anne Parish will supply the priest for these first three liturgies. Please take note that NO SERVICE will be scheduled at 7:00 a.m. Please consider joining the school liturgy at 8:15 a.m. Part of marriage preparation at St. Anne Parish involves married couples who become mentors to couples by involvement in the program FOCCUS. Presently St. Anne Parish could use several more couples to be mentors so that we might be able to schedule a review with those who are planning to be married this year. Please consider responding to this plea; couples are delayed in completing their preparation because we have so few to assist them. Hope to hear from you soon! Al = = August 28, 2015 Yi Xiong and Long Yang Advent Project Proposals Sought by St. Anne s Mission Service Committee Are you volunteering for a non-profit organization that does outreach to people outside of St. Anne s Parish? Here is a chance to help that group or agency. St. Anne s Mission Service Committee is looking for Project Proposals for the 2015 Advent Season. In the past we have raised funds for Blessings in a Backpack, the People to People Project in Laos, the Marathon County Hunger Coalition, the Wausau Warming Center and many more. The project would be promoted during Advent, 2015 and would have a maximum fundraising goal of $5,000. (Any monies raised in excess of the goal will remain at the parish.) Project Proposal forms can be picked up at the Parish office, in the racks in the south & west gathering spaces of church, and are also available on the parish website. The deadline for submitting a proposal is August 18. MUSICAL TOURS News Christmas show - Oct. 29, featuring the musical version of It s a Wonderful Life.The Fireside Christmas shows are always a treat - a very special presentation. It s a fun day away. For more information on Natural Family Planning or to register for instruction in your area, visit For I Was Hungry and You Gave Me Food Community Meals Outreach to the Needy Wausau is known as a community that is compassionate and generous to those in need. Every week, dozens of volunteers come forward to help make and serve evening meals. St. Anne s is one of the churches, and other groups, who make these meals available to the hungry of the Wausau area. On Sunday, August 9, we prepared and served the evening meal at First Presbyterian Church, located in downtown Wausau. The menu included Hot Dogs, Chili Dogs, Chili, Fresh Fruit and Desserts. About 105 meals were served. Ginny Dimeo was the Meal Coordinator, and Jennifer Kareken was the Head Cook. Those who helped at the meal, provided food, or made monetary donations were Sandy Gilge, Germaine Reif, Ginny Davide, Mark Kareken, Dan Bock, Tina Dimeo, Mary Paksi, Jan Hulleman, Gordy Jensen, Kailie Jensen, and Lorraine Gould. Marriage 911 There is only one week left to signup for Retrouvaille- a program for married couples that feel bored, frustrated, or angry in their marriage. Some experience coldness and simply shut down. Others experience conflict and arguments in their relationship. Tom Krieg and Fr. Allan Slowiak are once again teaming up to lead a magnificent pilgrimage to Jordan and Israel. This all-inclusive tour will take you to the region of Galilee in its springtime, with three nights at the Sea. Four nights will be in Jerusalem with time in Bethlehem, and a walk on the Way of the Cross which leads to the place of the Lord s crucifixion and his empty tomb, where pilgrims have gone for centuries. Time in Jordan is an introduction to Arab culture and includes a visit to the site of Jesus baptism, the place of John the Baptist s martyrdom, and a day in the red rock city, Petra, one of the new 7 Wonders of the Ancient World situated in the Valley of Moses. 5 Registration Still Open!!! Thank you to all that have already submitted your Faith Formation Registration forms to the parish office. Keep in mind that ALL forms received here on out will be assessed a $25 administrative late fee. Additionally, any forms received after Friday, August 1 will be processed on a first-come-first-served waitlist basis due to class size availability.
