From the desk of Fr. Jim Well, we had a wonderful week-long celebration last week. Things could not have gone better. I was so happy with the way everything went that I thought we were blessed by St. Peter. Although I usually get into trouble when I single out certain people, I think I need to single out some of my helpers who coordinated this happy week: They are Mike Healy, Anita Ash and Pat Riney offered to serve as leaders for the whole week of activities. Another must mention is our food crew. The breakfast, fish fry and hog roast were delicious. The people who got all that ready for us are to be praised. Most of us simply walked in, got our food and ate. We owe the following people a huge thank you: Patty Fuhs, Imogene Lechner, P.V. Steiner, Glenn Spaulding, Raymond Hart and the countless parishioners who helped them. We offer a big thank you to the men of St. Martin s Men s Club. They are professionals at what they do. Another big thank you to Mike Burris who raised and donated the four hogs which were prepared for our dining pleasure. Over and beyond all these people were those many who pitched in to help wherever needed. My special thanks to Patty Fuhs who created the beautiful comforters and decorated the display area with her personal materials. The comforters were won by: Mary Ann Woodward, Fr. David Fleck and Karen Kane. If you did not get any of the free memorabilia, fans, pens or coins, we will try to make them available to you in the church on weekends. History books are still available. Call Fr. Jim or the parish office to reserve one. The canvas art must be pre ordered. We will have an order form on the bulletin board. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this a truly memorable week. If you want to know the names of those not listed here, look at the directory in the back of your 2018 Pictorial Directory. Most of them helped. Finally, I want to thank Bishop Siegel his MC, Matt Miller, and Frs. Erbacher, Vogler and Will who concelebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving. And lastly, I thank Fr. Eppy James and his brother Eugene James for the donation of the beautiful handmade vestment I wore for Mass the last two weekends. I now know it is over 100 years old and a true heirloom. And now, it s time for me to disappear from the scene for a while. I don t know how much energy I ll have for beach ministry, but I ll try. Fr. Jean Vogler will be with you next weekend. Pray for me as I minister to the natives of Bradenton/Sarasota for the next week or so. BLOOD DRIVE In conjunction with the Red Cross, St. Peter is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Friday, August 3 rd from 2:00-6:00 p.m. The drive will be held in All Saints Hall in Cannelburg. RIGHT TO LIFE ALUMINUM CAN/PAPER DRIVE at Tractor Supply lot on Saturday, August 4. This is the main location for this paper drive with hours from 9:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. All other locations around the county will have pickups from 9:00 a.m. till Noon. If you could volunteer for just one hour, please contact Mike Wichman at or Louis Kavanaugh Jr. at or show up at the paper drive truck the day of the paper drive. 2 RIGHT TO LIFE BANQUET BOOK ADS SALES UNDERWAY - The Local Right to Life Group is closing in on the final days of their Banquet Book Ad Sales for their 2018 Banquet Book. 4 Did you know that the Indiana Catholic Conference (ICC) is the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in Indiana regarding state and national matters? The ICC encourages you to join the Indiana Catholic Action Network (I- CAN) to follow the Church s position on each issue and Indiana House and Senate activity and receive an Action Alert before a vote on a key issue takes place. To join, visit COME PRAY AT THE ABORTION CLINIC IN BLOOMINGTON The 40 Days for Life Organization is asking for your help in volunteering one hour or more to pray at the abortion clinic in Bloomington. By your prayers we hope to change the hearts of these young women to give life to their unborn child rather than killing their baby by abortion. They need your help between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to pray outside of the abortion clinic. TEC TEC 102: NOVEMBER 10-12, 2018 TEC 103: FEBRUARY 16-18, 2019 TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) is a three-day experience for young people who are searching for goals, acceptance, meaning, and for community. Adults are also welcome and encouraged to attend as they increase our witness to our faith while experiencing their own encounter with Christ. Candidates can expect to meet others from all areas of the Diocese, find how God fits in your life, and encounter the Risen Jesus Christ. You will have time to reflect on your life, ideas, hopes, and dreams away from home, school, and/or work.
