Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and the sin that clings so closely. Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. Amen. Lord of all, Silence for reflection and self-examination. the demands of your righteousness are too hard for us to fulfill alone, so we rush off with this excuse and ignore your law. You forgive our iniquity and remember our sin no more, so we abuse this freedom as if it were a license to selfishness, self-indulgence and self-righteousness. You give us the gift of grace yet we make it cheap without serious repentance. We are your people, but do we know you as our God? Forgive us, Lord, the sins we know in our hearts. Save us, Lord, from the sins we hide And write your mercy on our hearts. We remain kneeling as the pastor offers God s absolution and forgiveness. College Connect Care Packages The youth group sends care packages to the college students each year in early December during exam time. If you would like to donate items to be included in the care packages, please drop them off by Sandra s office by November 26. This year we have 23 college students. Here are some ideas of things they may enjoy receiving: candy, crackers, gift cards, deck of cards, gum, coffee, ramen noodles, protein bars. Adopt a Child for Christmas! This holiday season, through our partnership with E. E. Taylor, we have an opportunity to once again adopt 65 children in that program and put Christmas smiles on their faces. Here s how it works: 1. Take a tag (or multiple tags if you wish) and look on the back of the tag for the large number. Each tag also contain(s) the child s name, gender, grade, clothing size, their interest(s), and one NEED per child. 2. Write your name next to the corresponding child s name on the sign-up sheet. 3. Purchase gifts based on the child s information. We ask that you include a book or two. 4. Please limit the total gift amount to $ Return your wrapped gift with the original tag attached and put it under the tree by Sunday, December 10 so we can deliver gifts to E. E.
