I saw the light of the sunrise reflecting off of the faces of those gathered in worship. Each expression told me that some of the sun s warmth brought internal comfort yet, I saw that some light never made it past adding a glow to each face. I think that s how God s love works. He shines forth His grace, we receive some and some is reflected to those around us. As Jesus followers, we are very directly told, by Jesus in Matthew 28:19&20, to go, and make disciples, by baptizing and teaching. He wants us to reflect onto others some of the love He gives us. Further into this edition of the newsletter, you will find the ways Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church is spreading God s love. But we must be careful. Ephesians 2:8 tells us; For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. This gift is not something we deserve, we have not earned it - it is not something to mark a special occasion like a birthday gift. The gift of God s grace is offered because God loves each of us wants to spend time with each of us wants to be in each of our lives. Even before you were aware that God exists, God wanted to be in a relationship with you. Grace was at work before you even knew you needed it. And then, in time, we recognize that we do need Jesus and invite His Spirit into our lives. It is that spirit, the Holy Spirit, who is at work to move us closer and closer to God. Paul put it this way in 2 Corinthians 3:18, all of us,... are being transformed... from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. When we accept the gift that is God s grace through Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit works to bring us, and those around us, into His radiance.

2 Christian Education Kidder is able to offer various classes for children and youth from pre-school to teens. Child care is provided year round in the nursery for those who participate in adult classes. Sunday school for children this fall will be following the same age appropriate curriculum, so parents can ask about what was learned, and all students will have had the same lesson. Kindergarten and younger led by Nancy Greenwald in Lind room Grades 1-4 led by Kim Barber in Jr high room Grades 5 and up led by June Piede, in Sr high room Becoming a Woman of Excellence Sunday, 9:00 AM in Pastors Office While reading through the book of Ruth, Cynthia Heald was struck with Boaz's praise of Ruth: "Now my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you whatever you ask, for all my people in the city know that you are a woman of excellence" (Ruth 3:11). What made Ruth a woman of excellence? Study of Ruth s life revealed qualities within her that spoke strongly of strength and excellence. When we give priority attention to developing and maintaining ourselves inwardly as God desires, then our responses and actions will follow accordingly. Proverbs 4:23 says it well: "Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life." This study leads us into a discovery of how God's Word applies to our inner lives to challenge our commitment to excellence, to deepen our communion with God, and to prepare our hearts to proclaim the excellences of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (see I Peter 2:9). As a result of my personal study, whenever I am confronted with choices or decisions of all kinds, I find myself asking the question, What would a woman of excellence do? May this be your question, too, as we become women of excellence for the honor and glory of God. Friday Friends Bible Study Meets 11:00AM in the lounge. In Blessed be the Name: A Study in the Names of God, Terri Main explains, When Moses asked God for his name, he began with the simple words, I AM. At first it seemed sufficient that His people simply know that was the one who existed for all eternity, existed now, and would exist forever. As He revealed more and more of himself other names emerged: Jehovah Jira (I AM your provider), Jehovah Ropha, (I AM your healer), Jehovah Nisse (I AM your banner), Jehovah Shalom (I AM your peace), and others. Each spoke of an aspect of the Great I AM. Each said something about his relationship with his people. Each had a special meaning... By reminding ourselves of the many ways he deals with us and the blessings he has for us, our faith increases, and our worship takes on an added dimension. This is an amazing way to help all the flood victims around the country. 5 WELCOME NEW MEMBERS Join us during Worship on Sunday, April 10 as we welcome new members to the community of faith at Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church. Gloria Collingwood and Brenda Pattison will be professing their faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Lewis Heath, Dylan Stow, Jacki Stow, and Mark Stow will each be transferring their membership from different United Methodist churches. The Annual Spring Rummage Sale is scheduled for May As you begin your Spring cleaning, set aside only those items in good condition which can be sold to benefit the church. Please note: We do not want Christmas items and only very nice clothing. Kids clothes are always welcome as they sell quickly. Items may be brought to the church beginning on Monday May 2. UMVIM ( United Methodist Volunteers in Mission) TRAINING There will be a training day on April 16, It will be held at the Mayville UMC starting at 8:30 a.m. There is a $20 fee which provides an ERT manual, coffee snacks, lunch a simple background check (we practice Safe Sanctuary), training and an UMCOR Early Response Badge. This is a great way to serve and provide a Christian presence in the aftermath of disaster. Please contact Brian Greenwald for more information at bngreenwald@windstream.net or SAVE THE DATE VBS July 5-8 9:00-12:00 Catch the Wave of GODS Amazing Love General Conference 2016 The United Methodist Church will gather for its next General Conference in May, 2016, but work behind the scenes is well underway. Delegates from 130 annual conferences will be part of the event at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. It is a time of prayer and planning to guide the denomination for years to come, and a huge undertaking. April 23 will mark a Day of Prayer for the 2016 General Conference for the Cornerstone District. Please join your brothers and sisters in Christ during this day of prayer for those chosen to GODS NOT DEAD 2 From the college classroom of God's Not Dead to the public square in God's Not Dead 2, the name of Jesus is welcomed less and less with each passing day. If Christians don't take a stand today, will we even have a choice tomorrow? When a Christian teacher is asked an honest question about Jesus, her reasoned response lands her in big trouble. As the principal and superintendent join forces with a zealous civil liberties group, an epic court case could expel God from the classroom and the public square once and for all!
