2 A View from the Center November is a month everyone thinks about Thanksgiving. The Bible teaches that Christians are to a people of Thanksgiving 24/7 365 days a year. Praise and thanks unto the Lord for His blessing upon us through the 152 nd Annual Meeting of the Transylvania Baptist Association on October Thanks to Pastor Randy Schuler and the New Hope Baptist Church family for hosting Session 1 on Monday night. Thanks to Pastor Jimmy Burress of Boylston Baptist for the anointed preaching on the Doctrine of Grace. Thanks to Interim Pastor Dr. Gordon Benton and the Calvary Baptist Church family for hosting Session 2 and Session 3 on Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening. Thanks to Calvary for the delicious meal. Thanks to Alan Perry for the anointed message from Revelation on Returning to our Frist Love. Thanks to Dr. Steve Harris for his anointed message on Disciple Making. The Lord truly poured our blessing in accordance with Psalm 133. Some Updates: The Women in Missions and Ministry United Ministry Team has been enlisted. Team Leader is Jan Miller. Team Members are Lenore Saunders Brevard Community, Melba McBride Brevard Community, Lois Hannah Calvary, Lynn Hardesty Carr s Hill, Jamie Preslar Cherryfield, Kelli Gordon Glady Branch, Christine Duncan Grace, Gail Wilson Middle Fork, Tammy Shuler New Hope, Deb Holland Rocky Hill, Miriman Nichols Temple and Lauren Kittrell Turkey Creek. This Ministry Team will serve the churches of the association in Southern Baptist Convention mission education and promotion and assisting any churches requesting help with Women s Ministry. Carolina Baptist Association, who has a similar ministry team, will send their team to help train our team in the near future. The TBA Biblical Counseling Ministry at the Baptist Center is available. Anyone or family desiring Biblical Counseling for any challenge or need in their life can make an appointment by calling or texting or ing dommike@me.com for an appointment. The TBA Sunday School Seminar will be at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church on Thursday night, November 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The purpose of this Seminar is to learn afresh some biblical principles that will bring revival and growth to a Sunday School Ministry and position that Sunday School to impact the lostness of Transylvania County with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All pastors, Sunday School workers and any church interested is seeing God do great things through the Sunday School are encouraged to attend. Wade Stillman will teach and lead the seminar. As you pray about your future financial support of the Transylvania Baptist Association, please keep in mind all the following that God is doing through the Baptist Center and the Transylvania Baptist Association: 1. STRENGTHENING of the churches through FELLOWSHIP with other churches. (Acts 2:42) Strengthening by Fellowship with Christians from other churches in the TBA. Strengthening by Fellowship of pastors with other pastors from other TBA churches. 2. 12 The time is near! Backpacks for Appalachian Regional Ministry will be collected on Saturday, November 7 Light & Hope Ministry Center 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. It s not too late to get started if you haven t already - below is a list of suggested items for the backpacks: 1. School supplies such as crayons, notebook paper, pencils, pens, composition books, folders, erasers, etc. 2. Small item of NEW clothing, such as a winter hat, gloves, socks, underwear. 3. Small pop-top canned food such as ravioli, tuna, beef stew, fruit, vegetables. 4. At least one NEW, age appropriate, non-breakable toy (no toy weapons please). 5. Hygiene items including toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, washcloth, brush or comb, shampoo, deodorant. 6. Fresh, wrapped, hard candy (no chocolate - it might melt). 7. Children s Bible Each backpack should be labeled BOY or GIRL as well as the appropriate age. We suggest the age groups to be 3-5, 6-9, and These backpacks will be distributed to Appalachian children in areas of need in December. This ministry is of the utmost importance, as this filled backpack may be the only Christmas present this child receives and it may also be the first time they have heard the Christmas story that includes Jesus! A copy of The Christmas Story will be included in each backpack. Also, please remember this date: on Saturday, November 21 we will meet to inspect all backpacks to make sure they are ready to share with these children. We will be at the Light & Hope Ministry Center from 9am to 3pm, and all are welcome to join us.
