Matthew 25:35 STEWARDSHIP When the Son of Man comes in glory, may we be among those who have fed the hungry, welcomed the stranger, and clothed the naked. For Jesus tells us clearly that it is those who have demonstrated good stewardship by sharing their gifts with the less fortunate who will receive God s blessing and inherit the kingdom. Your Gifts to God and Parish ~ November 12 th Sacrificial Giving: $ 8, Building Fund: $ 10, Not in envelopes: $ 7, Children s Sharing Treasure: $ ADVENT RECONCILIATION SERVICE Our Advent Reconciliation Service will be on Tuesday, December 5 th, at 7 pm. There will be seven or eight priests hearing confessions. We invite you to join us for this great Advent experience. THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be celebrated on Saturday, December 9 th, at 6:00 pm, at Sacred Heart Church Green Cove Springs, 207 Palmetto Avenue, Green Cove Springs). In case of bad weather, this event will be held in Sullivan Hall at our Fleming Island location. After Mass is celebrated, there will be a presentation of the story of Juan Diego and the Virgin. A reception dinner, with music and entertainment, and a raffle will complete the evening. All are welcome! Spanish Mass on December 12 th We will have Mass on the actual feast day, December 12 th, at 6:00 pm. Bishop Estévez will celebrate the Mass that evening. Solemn Exposition will be held on Friday, December 1 st, at 8:30 am, following the morning Mass. This is a beautiful service and a wonderful way to honor the Eucharist.

3 Education News... Thanksgiving Break is November 19 th through November 26 th. SHEEP (Sacred Heart Early Education Program) will meet tomorrow, Monday, November 27 th, at 9:15 am in the Activity Center. Youth Ministry Corner Attention Teens and Tweens Rise Up Concert and Festival Saturday, December 2 nd Sign up this week so that we can plan transportation. The event is Free, but only a finite number of wrist bands are available to enter the venue. Make sure you reserve yours now! 4 In Our Parish... Poinsettia Sale SENIOR LUNCH We will be having a joint November/December Senior Lunch featuring music by the Recycles Orchestra. Join us Wednesday, December 6 th, at 11:30 am, in Sullivan Hall for this special event! RSVP to the Parish Office, , by Friday, December 1 st. No walk-ins will be accepted! OUTREACH DOLLAR SUNDAY Thank you to all who so generously provided food for the Thanksgiving Baskets. We were able to provide food for many people. With your donations in December, hopefully OUTREACH will be able to make Christmas brighter for some less fortunate families in our area by helping keep their electricity on. All of you who donate to OUTREACH are truly a blessing. Thank You and Merry Christmas from your Outreach Ministry Volunteers! ANGEL GIVING TREE The ANGEL GIVING TREE is in place in the narthex this weekend. Please choose a tag to help someone this Christmas. After selecting your tag, tear off the bottom and add your telephone number, then place the tag in the box marked for Angel Tree Tags. Please return your wrapped gift with the Angel Tree Tag attached. Poinsettias will be available before and after Mass from December 2 nd through December 17 th. The purpose is: 1. To decorate both churches for Jesus Birthday, 2. To provide special prayers at all Masses celebrated during Christmas for your loved ones, both living and deceased, and 3. To provide assistance to those in need in our Parish and Community. We ask a donation of $7.00 per plant, and you will be able to pick up your Poinsettia after the Christmas Season to take it home. Join us in making this a special celebration of the birth of Jesus. Council of Catholic Women BEST ADVENT EVER Have you ever had a Christmas where you felt like you were really prepared? Have you ever had a Christmas where you walked into Christmas Mass and you felt focused and peaceful and ready? We prepare for everything we consider important in life, and Advent is the time we prepare for Christmas. For many people, preparing for Christmas includes shopping, baking cookies, wrapping presents, hanging decorations, and much, much more. Often these activities are stressful and chaotic, and they easily become a distraction from what Christmas is really all about. Welcome to Best Advent Ever. This is a free program offered by Dynamic Catholic. To subscribe, log onto and register. It is that easy. As we prepare for Christmas, we are going to learn how to recognize what matters most so that we can make the best choices with our time, energy, and effort this Advent. Each week is filled with inspiring videos and testimonies that help us discover what we really want, what matters most, what matters least, how we can become the-best-version-of-ourselves, and what it means to have a fabulous Christmas. It s really important from time to time that we step back and take another look at who we are, and where we are, and what we re doing. And God understands that, and the Church understands that. And it s part of the genius of Catholicism that the Church invites us to experience a time like Advent so we really can step back and reconsider where we are in our lives.

Marriage Preparation Marriage Preparation: To schedule a wedding, an engaged couple must meet with their parish priest or deacon at least eight months before their proposed wedding date. Preparation for the sacrament includes attending a diocesan program such as Engaged Encounter or Pre Cana. Also, couples of childbearing age will need to take a full course of Natural Family Planning. Pre-registration for each of these programs is mandatory. The next Engaged Encounter program will be in 2018 at Marywood Retreat Center. The next Pre Cana program will be December 9 th in Jacksonville.
