And so it is that we offer our gifts in the Eucharist though Him, with Him, and in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit. 3 Education News... Youth Ministry Corner Christmas Break Sunday, December 17 th to Wednesday January 3 rd. See you for LIFE NIGHT Wednesday, January 10 th! Happy New Year!! Classes resume on Sunday, January 7 th. NO SHEEP this week. THANK YOU! Thank you to all who participated in our Living Nativity. All who attended enjoyed the presentation by our young people, of the story of Jesus birth. Thank you to our actors, stage hands, parent helpers, the 5:30 Choir, and all parishioners who attended. PARISHIONER SENIOR LUNCH POTLUCK The Senior Luncheon is open to all Seniors of Sacred Heart Catholic Church to encourage fellowship and camaraderie among registered parishioners while enjoying a lunch. Please join us on Wednesday, January 17 th, at 11:30am in Sullivan Hall for Potluck and Bingo! Please bring a dish to share. RSVP to the Parish Office at by Friday, May 12 th. All are welcome but please no walk-ins! American Heritage Girls Troop FL5312 would like to thank you for your generosity in supporting their Wreaths Across America collection in our parish. With the funds collected at these Masses, we were able to purchase 127 wreaths to place on veterans graves at the Jacksonville Memory Gardens on December 16 th. We thank you for your generosity and support! A Blessing for a Family at the New Year Eternal God, You make all things new, hope to the despondent, and love to the forsaken. As we begin a new year, we ask for your blessing upon our family. Renew our faith and revive our hope. Grant us patience in adversity and gratitude for our many blessings. Make us a blessing to one another and to the world. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Sacred Heart Early Education Program (SHEEP) and the American Heritage Girls Troop FL5312 would like to thank you for your generosity with your Angel Tree donation of fuzzy non-skid socks and slippers for the residents of Governors Creek Health and Rehabilitation. On December 18 th, we had 56 moms and children at the nursing home singing Christmas Carols and passing out gifts to each resident. We were truly able to spread Christmas love and cheer! 5 Around the Diocese... Marriage Preparation Marriage Preparation: To schedule a wedding, an engaged couple must meet with their parish priest or deacon at least eight months before their proposed wedding date. Preparation for the sacrament includes attending a diocesan program such as Engaged Encounter or Pre Cana. Also, couples of childbearing age will need to take a full course of Natural Family Planning. Pre-registration for each of these programs is mandatory. The next Engaged Encounter program will be January 19 th -21 st at Marywood Retreat Center. The next Pre Cana program will be February 10 th in Jacksonville. What do you need to say, let it be in response to God s call to you? Trust that the Lord is with you and will guide you always. (Luke 1:26-38). CHARITY ART AUCTION Saturday, January 20 th, :00 pm TO 5:00 pm ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH The Knights of Columbus are asking for donations of art work by local adult and high school artists to be sold. Proceeds from the Auction will be donated to Catholic Relief Services to construct water and sanitation systems for some of God s poorest of poor people. Plan to attend!! Admission is free. A love offering will be taken. Contact St. Joseph s Knights of Columbus for more information. Who is most likely to benefit from an IRA charitable gift? Individuals 70 ½ and older who are required to take IRA distributions and do not need the taxable income from that source. Regulations apply. Gifts must be from your regular IRA, not from Roth IRAs or retirement plans. Distributions must be made from your IRA custodian account directly to a qualified nonprofit.
