Isaiah 50:7 STEWARDSHIP In the fourth reading today, St. James has harsh words for those who do not put their faith into action. May we be such good stewards of God s gifts to us that we can never be accused of having faith that does nothing in practice. MINISTRY FAIR Sacred Heart s Ministry Fair will be held the next two weekends. THE MINISTRIES WANT YOU!!! Volunteers are always needed and welcome. Formed pick of the week The FORMED theme for September is Prayer. I'm sharing the resources they are featuring. Prayer is the founda on of a lived rela onship with God. St. Paul tells us that our prayer must be characterized by "thanksgiving" (Colossians 4:2). While it may be temp ng to focus on the ways in which we can love God through our works, in prayer we are invited to contemplate that "we love, because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19), and to be filled with thanksgiving for God's showering of mercy and affec on on us. 4 In Our Parish... LISTENING AND RESPONDING There are three interwoven themes in today s readings: listening to God, faith vs. good works, and losing our life in order to find it. How are they related? The Suffering Servant of Isaiah undergoes much distress and ridicule, but is able to bear it because he has listened to the promp ngs of God day a er day. The psalm tells us that God listens, too. God hears our prayers for help and is always ready to save us. As our faith deepens, so does our desire to do the works of jus ce and charity that build up the reign of God. God directs our ac ons in ways we o en cannot see, and we don t always see the results. We are called upon in faith to trust that what we do is enough, and that willingness to listen to God s promp ngs will lead us in the right way. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. THE PRAYER AND HEALING MINISTRY The Prayer and Healing Ministry is available every Monday evening at 7:00 pm in Building A where all are welcome to join us! This is a me set aside to place ourselves in the Presence of the Holy Spirit; for prayer, praise, song, and worship. On the 3 rd Monday of each month, private prayer sessions are available in the Brides Room a er the 8:00 am Mass and at 7:00 pm in Bldg. A. All prayer sessions are kept in the strictest confidence. We encourage you to come. (John 14:12-14) ANNUAL YARD SALE Our Annual Yard Sale at the Green Cove Springs church, will be held Saturday, September 22 nd, from 7 am to 2 pm. Save the day and save your gently used items for our sale. Bring them to the Green Cove Church on Thursday or Friday, September 20 th and 21 st, from 9 am to 4 pm. Council of Catholic Women Bible Study will be held on Wednesday, September 19 th, at 10:00 am in Bldg. C. It is held every other Wednesday. The Pastoral Council will meet on Monday, September 24 th, at 7:00 pm in Building C.

Marriage Prepara on Marriage Prepara on: To schedule a wedding, an engaged couple must meet with their parish priest or deacon at least eight months before their proposed wedding date. Prepara on for the sacrament includes a ending a diocesan program such as Engaged Encounter or Pre Cana. Also, couples of child-bearing age will need to take a full course of Natural Family Planning. Preregistra on for each of these programs is mandatory. The next Engaged Encounter program will be October 12 th 14 th at Marywood Retreat Center. The next Pre Cana program will be December 18 th in Jacksonville.
