3 Spring Congregational Meeting Co Our Spring Congrega"onal Mee"ng is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, We will have a luncheon provided by the Fellowship and Hospitality Ac"on Team immediately following Sunday School. The Congrega"onal Mee"ng will follow the luncheon and begin promptly at 12:30 in the FLC. Mark your calendars now and plan to agend this important mee"ng in the life of our church. It is yours to do. Welcome Lisa Trobaugh as our Director of Children s Ministries! The Chris"an Educa"on Ac"on Team is pleased to announce that Lisa Trobaugh is our new Director of Children s Ministry effec"ve April 1st. Special thanks to the team that served on the search commigee: Doug Balmer, Mary Beth Bertrando, Carol Kurl, Tonia Trovinger, and Eric Landram. Lisa and her husband, ScoG, are raising three children you will want to get to know! ScoG works for Godfrey in Lancaster as a Vice President/Execu"ve Crea"ve Director. Isaac is in 9 th grade at WHS, Annabelle is in 6 th grade and Emerson is in 2 nd grade at Kissel Hill Elementary. The Trobaugh family resides in Li"tz. One of the things that made Lisa agrac"ve to the search commigee was her ability to put her purpose, mission, and vision into words and ac"on. Lisa penned these words to the search commigee. My purpose is to help children come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior and to learn to share His love with others. I am passionate about children learning about Jesus in a way they can understand. My mission is to apply my gins for crea"ve and enthusias"c organiza"on and mo"va"on to Lead the children s ministry program with integrity, passion and crea"vity Equip our children s ministry volunteers in a shared ministry context that empowers individuals and helps them succeed in leading our children Invest in and collaborate with volunteers to maximize the value and impact of the "me we get with children each week My vision is for Li"tz Church of the Brethren to realize its full poten"al as a light in the Li"tz community, serving and strengthening the families of Lancaster County. We can do this through programs that: Offer children a safe, engaging and crea"ve environment in which they can grow in a rela"onship with Jesus Christ Tailor programs specific to each child s developmental level and/or ability level Provide a central place in the community for families to gather and grow spiritually together Create an environment in which children know they are valued by their Creator and seek to offer the love of Christ to their peers, shaping their culture as they do so Act as a solid founda"on for young adults who leave for college or the workforce knowing Christ and clearly ar"cula"ng their faith Please join us in giving them a Li"tz CoB welcome when you see them around! 4 Directory Changes Change of Address: Marvin & Joanne Loose 41 Lancaster Ave., Apt. 3 Ephrata, PA Death in our Church Family: Teri Shotzberger, March 3, 2019 Derrick Hill Cell Phone: Leadership Team Article by Paul Miller I personally find it hard to take the "me to focus on daily devo"ons during Lent. As a believer, I know that Easter is coming and this will linger in the back of my mind. So, I inten"onally try to read the scripture and the devo"on twice, so I can focus on the Lenten message. Some"mes those small concise lessons make an impression that can last longer than a season and I want to share one of them with you. The Palm Sunday story includes Jesus entering Jerusalem on a young donkey. Not long ago, I read this passage as recorded in Luke 19, star"ng at verse 28. The followers of Jesus are very excited from hearing his teachings and observing the many miracles. Despite his three-year ministry of preparing them for the kingdom of God, many s"ll pictured an earthly kingdom. That includes his closest 12 Disciples. The Pharisees believed in the coming Messiah, but during the last 3 years, they could not come to understand how Jesus could be their Savior. In verse 39, they ask Jesus to make his followers quiet! During Passover, Judas and Peter will act out through betrayal and denial, because this was simply not how God s kingdom should work. Here we are 2000 years later, has anything changed? When ministry doesn t look quite the way we expect, we tend to lash out, put up roadblocks, or apathe"cally do nothing. When a group is excited about spreading the kingdom of God, are we the Pharisees, telling them to be quiet? When a group would like to serve those in need, do we intercede like Peter and draw a sword of reasons why this project will not work? The Disciples had some uneasy days following Palm Sunday and some doubts that went beyond crucifixion. We are not so very different from them. We also need "mes of prayer and leading of the spirit to further understand God s kingdom. It is ok to have ques"ons and uncertainty. We just need to rely on each other during those "mes. In the back of our minds, we know that Easter is coming and the Good News has no limita"ons. Page 4

Annabelle s Brick Campaign: The bricks will be installed around the playground entrance. Each brick will cost $150 and can have up to three lines with your customized message. You can stop by the church office or visit the Fellowship Hall on Sunday morning for more informa"on. Accessorizing the Tree House Playground Fundraiser What are you doing on Saturday, April 13 th at 2:00 pm? Why not come out to the Fellowship Hall and have some fun! Becky Becker will be having a Style Session, featuring Premier Designs Jewelry and Fashion from Min D s Bou"que. She will be sharing new looks for Spring and how to make the most of the wardrobe you have by adding a few accessories. Where does the Tree House Playground come into play? Becky will be dona"ng most of her profit to the Tree House. What about this Jewelry Company? Why should you come to THIS fundraiser? Premier says it best: Founded on Biblical principles, Premier Designs is inten"onal about honoring God, enriching lives, and serving others. We believe people are our most important asset, and since 1985 we have placed individuals before profits. Come out for an anernoon of Fun, Fashion and Food and bring a Friend or Four!! See you April 13 th at 2:00! Fellowship and Hospitality News The Fellowship and Hospitality Ac"on Team is looking for several people who would like to greet guests and members as they enter our building on a Sunday morning. We will be adding greeters to our team to be sta"oned at the entrance by the Children s Wing. We are also adding a greeter to the back of the church to welcome all to the Contemporary Service.
