4 Sermon Notes March 25, 2018 Willing to Suffer Philippians 2:5-11 Key Text: And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:8) Key Thought: Just as Christ was called to suffer, we too must be willing to suffer for Him. 1) Intro & Context 2) Clarifying the PROMISES of God a. Life (through dying) (cf. Jn. 10:10; 12:24-25; Php. 1:21) b. Prosperity (but poverty) (cf. Ps. 112:1,3; Mt. 19:24; Lk. 6:20,24) c. Love (but being hated) (cf. Rom. 8:38-39; 1 Jn. 3:1; Mt. 10:22; Lk. 6:22) d. Peace (but being persecuted) (cf. Jn. 14:27; Mt. 10:34-36) e. Joy (but suffering) (cf. Jn. 15:11, 18) 3) Accepting a life of SUFFERING (cf. Prayer Notes: Prayer Following Worship Please feel free to take your burden or praise to one of the Elim Prayer Team members available to pray with you. Team members include: Julie, Linda, Carolyn, Juanita, & Tasha and can be easily found at the back of the sanctuary in the northwest classroom behind the sound system booth. Prayer Gatherings Each Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. there is a prayer gathering held at Elim. Also, there is a Wednesday morning prayer group meeting in Pastor s office at 7:00 a.m. You are encouraged to come and pray with the team members and share your requests/praises. Prayer Chain The prayer network is used when special needs arise during the week. Call Sandy at the church Monday thru Thursday 8:30 a.m. 2:30 p.m. otherwise call or text Tasha Munger at (309) with your request. If no answer, you may leave your concern on the answer machine and it will be relayed ASAP. Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work. Oswald Chambers

Katie There is a sign-up sheet for anyone who would like to purchase an Easter Lily to beautify our church for Easter in honor or memory of a loved one. Open to everyone, donations support the students serving the meal Rediscover the reason for our JOY! Kids 0-5th grade can join in the hunt!
