As we enter into the month of May we say goodbye to the Easter season (May 8th is the last Sunday of Easter and Mothers' Day) and we observe the birthday of the Church with our Pentecost celebration on May 15th. This year there will be no confirmation at the 11:15 service. We do have students in the program but we do not have anyone who is ready to be confirmed at this time. Our classes have gotten smaller over the years. Members of Trinity who are in their fifties and sixties remember the days when the confirmation classes had up to sixty or more students. When I was confirmed in 1976 at Our Savior in Haddonfield the classes still had twenty-five to thirty students. The last few years we have had ten or less in a class. Next year we will be confirming two students. Times have changed. Other things will be happening in May as well. Most notably will be Memorial Day. Because Memorial Day does not coincide with Pentecost this year, the Church Council has decided to have a Unity Service on that day. That means one service at 10:00am. Once again the Council will host a coffee and donut fellowship after the service. Mark you calendars so you don't forget that there is only one service on that day. Looking ahead, we will be having Unity Services on July 4th weekend (Sunday, July 3rd) and on Labor Day weekend (Sunday, September 4th). I receive mostly positive feedback on these Unity Services because people like to see the church full and they enjoy worshipping with friends and family who often go to services at different times. I do believe that they help us build a sense of unity among our members fostering the concept that we are one church and not three churches. On May 22nd there will be a temple talk for Vacation Bible School. I know it seems early, but in today's world time seems to pass by quickly and before you know it, VBS will be here. It will be held in the evenings from July 11th through the 15th. If we begin to promote this now as a congregation, we might be able to reach more children in our community and build up the program. What better way to follow our mission statement "To know Christ and to Make Him known". We are planning on having a table and volunteers handing out information about Trinity and our ministries at Gloucester Township Day, June 4th. We believe that our display was well received last year and those who participated had a great time. Many people enjoyed our covered dish supper and hymn sing on April 10th. We want to continue the fellowship and are planning a picnic for June 25th. Look for details in the June newsletter and Sunday announcements. I am still considering what person from the Bible we will study at the July Bible study night. However, after speaking with several of our Bible study participants we are going to begin a study of the Book of Genesis in September, therefore I will be picking someone from that book. Trinity Lutheran Church was founded in We are celebrating our 90th year of ministry in the name of the Lord. The council is making plans to mark this anniversary this fall. Details will be published during the summer. Until then... Grace and Peace, Pastor Andy

Sewing News from Florida Hello to everyone. Hope you are well as the weather up north seems to be turning spring-like again. Just a short note to say that Russ and I will be returning to New Jersey near the end of May for a 10 day visit. Didn t want to use the word vacation because when you are retired, every day is a vacation day. Wanted to update you on our sewing group. We have been making great strides. We ve sent out over 600+ dresses to different countries and given away some right here in Florida. The CIA church down here considers Trinity her sister church since you ve helped us in the past with material and notions for dresses. I was asked if you could help us once again with your generous donations. We need cotton material and elastic as they are the two things we seem to run out of the fastest. Those of us who do the sewing have been donating, but the group is small and we can t seem to keep up with the demand. So many South America missions have received word of our undertaking and have asked if they can become part of our mission. Many girls are in need and are so grateful when they are given a simple cotton dress. It is a great help to the missionaries as they present the Gospel to those who have never heard of the saving grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It makes it so much easier if the missionaries can give them something as it opens the door for a conversation to begin. God has blessed us in many ways..and you can bless us too by donating a yard or two of material and some elastic. My sewing buddies and I extend our heartfelt thanks to you as you help with this task. Love in Christ, Joanne PS You can drop off the material to Janet s office.

Sunday School News But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened." But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil." 1 Peter 3:14-17 What does it mean to fear God and have hope in him? God has the power to sanctify us, make us holy and worthy of his respect. When we come to realize his awesomeness then that we may truly respect him by acknowledging his greatness, power, and goodness. We do this through our respect and faith in him. We are to show respect in our words and action, but mainly in our hearts leading us to find rest in him. The heart that fears God has no room for any other fear. It resolves the concerns of our mind and scatters our many perplexing thoughts. No matter, says faith, though all fail, I know of one thing that will not, my Rock in whom I trust. The object of our hope is heaven, a state of holiness and communion with God. We were once a lost sinner. Christ came to seek and save those who were lost; not against their will but to come freely. Therefore we see that a provision is made to open our minds, so that it may be led to a wise decision. We came to Christ for salvation. He is our Savior; we embrace, love, and honor him as such. The true Christian finds another reason to encourage a hope; for the effects of this faith on his life through taking a personal interest in the gospel plan for salvation. Our Annual Plant Sale was held on Saturday, April 23 rd. Proceeds will benefit our programs. Thanks, Bob Zenter for your help and providing the plants. Also, I would like to thank all the volunteers for their help with running the sale. Mother s Day is Sunday, May 8 th. Moms and Grand Moms will be presented with carnations on their special day at the 10:00 AM service. Then Father s Day is Sunday, June 19 th. We are making plans for Father s Day to make it special as well. We have begun working on a new design for next year s Rally Day T-shirt. The theme will be based on Jesus Loves Me. Please continue to give financial support to our outreach, Cathedral Kitchen, bring in your $3.00 dime folders. The Kitchen has been serving meals to the poor and hungry for over three decades. Our other outreach, UR Important 2 US helps to feed the homeless in the streets of Camden. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bottles of water, packaged snacks, and warm pairs of socks are needed. May 15 TH will be our next UR Important 2 US, Sunday. Please bring in your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bottles of water and snacks. Join us on Saturday, May 14 th to make PB&J sandwiches. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 AM. We need new volunteers to help secure our future. Please consider serving your Lord by teaching. If you know someone who might be interested in teaching let them know. Of most importance help secure the future of our children. They need help and guidance to learn how to live their lives with a strong faith. Let s talk it over. Blessings to all in the name our Lord Jesus! Carl Nagel dadx3d@comcast.net

Junior Choir After coming home from church today, I had to sit right down and write this article. While I will be writing another article after the final time to lead the congregation in worship, today was a WONDERFUL day in the Lord! Cannot begin to tell you how many people told both Mr. Kraemer and me how professional-sounding this group sounded! Needless to say, I am proud of all the choir members. A special thank you and congratulations to both Julia Ciuffo and Austin Hui for your solos. Both of you and the rest of the choir pronounced each word with enthusiasm and meaning and perfect diction. Of course, no children s choir can perform (we like to think we are praising the Lord and not performing) without the willingness of the children to memorize the words of each song and the parents to see that each child is here for rehearsal each week. Thank you to Mrs. Dilks for stepping in to accompany us from time to time and especially to Mr. Kraemer for his creative and enthusiastic accompaniment for each song. We begin just as it is written and then tweek it to blend best for this group. And of course, thank you in abundance to Almighty God for the talent He has given to each of these individuals as well as the writers. We do praise Him for His goodness always. It is really hard to believe that April is over half gone and now May is fast approaching. We will be singing a different kind of song on Pentecost Sunday. This year it is on May 15 and the anniversary of the original descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples and His church. The symbol most associated with Pentecost is the dove. Won t you mark your calendars and be sure to be in church on Pentecost Sunday, May 15, and be sure to wear red! Love to all, Mrs. Schmidt

SOCIAL CONCERNS On Sunday, April 17, we had our Spring Breakfast. We all enjoyed eggs, sausage, tulip shaped pancakes, chip beef, pastries and fellowship! We will be having a Donut Sunday on Sunday, May 15th. Join us for a hot cup of coffee, a donut and some great fellowship. We will be serving across the street between 17 and 25 Knight Avenue from 9:30 11:30 AM. May 8th is Share Sunday and also Mother s Day. In honor of our Mothers we are asking that in addition to your regular donation you share a jar of Peanut Butter and a Jar of Jelly with our Pantry families. What a wonderful way to honor our Mother s and remember all of the Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches she made for us as we were growing up. Our Clothing closet continues to provide much needed clothing to our pantry families. The closet is also open to all members of the congregation. Please remember when dropping off clothing to pack those bags light. Our ladies at the clothing closet need your help. If you can spend some time helping to sort and hang clothing they would love to have you join them. They are there sorting on Tuesday s from 9am until Noon. Please consider coming out to help. Come when you can, leave when you must! New members are always welcome. We meet on the Third Sunday of the month at 11:15. Please come out and join us. Remember God loves a cheerful giver. Those who not only give of their wealth, but of their time, their talents and their possessions. With God ALL things are possible. Out next meeting will be on May 15th at 25 Knight Ave. Important meeting as we need to discuss replacing basement windows at both houses. Our next pantry day is May 26th. Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:40 Caring and Sharing Diane Kochon

Greetings in Christ As we say goodbye to winter and welcome the warmer days of spring, the Property Committeee has been very busy with many projects. The 7th grade classroom is finally finished after many years of water intrusion and damage. It feels great to have the room back in service for Sunday school, meetings and an extra room for kitchen duty. It seemed to take forever but it looks great. Special thanks to all who helped. Did you notice our new piece of furniture in the back of the church? It s our new Guest Book pedestal made by Dave Daly. He made it in one weekend and it really is beautiful. We have a new trash removal service Gold Medal a local company which will save us a substantial amount of money per month. We have been very busy keeping up with small projects routine and maintenance. We are making progress while it feels challenging at times but very rewarding when we finish. We at Trinity are very fortunate to have a small group of talented and dedicated men who participate on the Property Committee. Without them it would be a struggle to get needed things done. Our neighborhood friendly fire inspector recently paid us a visit; we had 4 small discrepancies which were easily corrected. We strive to keep up with routine fire inspectionss and to avoid violations. There have been some issues at the 17 & 25 Knight Avenue properties. They are being addressed with the cooperation of the Social Concerns committee. There was a Work Day on Saturday, April 16th. We had a small turnout but were able to get many small things finished and cleaned up. Our next Work Day will be Saturday, May 8 a.m. Our task list is endless. Won t you come and join us for good fellowship. We are always looking for new faces and ladies are also welcome to join us. Look for the signup sheet in the sanctuary. We look forward to seeing you on the 21st. Respectfully submitted in peace through Christ, Richard Greiner and Your Property Committee

The Prayer Shawl monthly meeting was held on Friday April 1, In attendance were: Barbara Anconetani, Ann Carter, Val Colasuonno, Linda Finch and Mary Raws. The meeting began at approximately 10:10 a.m., with The Lord s Prayer. We received the following: Baptismal Blankets: Two Osborn Family Medical Hats: Two In addition, Dot Offer donated two large decorated bags for when the Shawls or Blankets are distributed. Corresponding Secretary: Barbara Anconetani reported that she is continuing to update the Distribution Reports. Baptismal Historian: Mary Raws reported there were no baptisms in March. We were informed by Ann that the Property Committee will be purchasing a cabinet for us and it may be available by our next meeting. This seemed like an appropriate time to sort through some of the yarn we have received. What we could not use was then bagged to be sent to the Lutheran Home in Moorestown. A brief discussion was had on our participation in the Gloucester Township Day festivities in June which was well attended last year. Val Colasuonno gave the closing reading, Psalm 51:10. We adjourned at 11:05 a.m. Our next meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 6, All are welcomed, so please stop by and visit. Val Colasuonno Vice President, Prayer Shawl Ministry, May God Hold You in the Palm of His Hand

A meeting was held on April 17 th to discuss the current issues facing the Youth Ministry at Trinity, with the goal of re-establishing a successful program. We would like to thank everyone who attended the meeting. A LOT of really great ideas were presented, and the enthusiasm was evident. It was decided to re-structure the Youth Ministry. We are in the beginning stages of planning, but there will be a focus on not only Youth events, which will include learning, fellowship, and service, but Youth SPONSORED events, that will include activities and events where ALL ages can participate. I would also like to thank those who contacted me directly to share their own ideas, such as fellowship events with other church youth groups, and video game Lock-in nights (PS4, etc). These are all terrific ideas. We ask parents of all youth to consider what the Youth Ministry can offer THEIR children. If your kids have not been interested in the past, we would love to be able to offer activities and programs that WILL interest them and inspire their faith. This Ministry is FOR THEM. We are also looking for young adults to become involved in the Youth Ministry as advisors. It is a wonderful opportunity to be a role model and positive influence on our youth as they grow and begin to make their faith their own. Please keep an eye out for upcoming announcements on Youth-related activities. If you have any questions about the Youth Ministry, want to share ideas, or become an advisor, please feel free to contact me at jeberts@epicenviro.com. In HIS Name Jim Eberts Youth Ministry Team
