6 Sugar Cake Baking Tues., Oct.16 and Wed., Oct. 17 Price $4.00 each Sugar Cakes are sold by the Moravian Women to help continue their mission of making a difference in the lives of God s people here and abroad. The Moravian Women Advisory Board is asking for your help in increasing our sales. Talk to your neighbors, friends, relatives, and co-workers. This year free delivery will once again be available for orders of 4 cakes or more and the order is placed prior to Tuesday s baking. Place your order by calling Susan Paden, , and to offer help with mixing and baking, call Shirley Thompson, Mission Outreach Opportunity Dover First is collecting items for Lauren Stewart who will be returning to Haiti in December. Her team (including Matt Spies) will attend an orphanage, school, and church called Imagine Missions. On this trip, their project is to educate women about first aid care, newborn care, sex education, and basic hygiene. First aid kits and baby supplies will be given to the women in attendance to take with them. First Aid Items Needed: Band-Aids, Cold medicine, Anti-diarrheal medicine, Gauze pads, Small scissors, Tweezers, Small bottles of hydrogen peroxide, Alcohol pads, Surgical gloves, Safety pins, Ibuprofen (any pain killer, fever reducer) *for kids and adults; Children melt away Tylenol, cold and cough; Motrin, Neosporin, Tums, Antihistamine (itch cream), Vitamins *for kids and adults; Vaginal antifungal creams, Water purification tablets, Thermometers We have a bright yellow box in the Social Hall for your donations. It will be available through Thanksgiving. Bring your items at any time. 6

7 Moravian Advent & Christmas Stars Great Gifts throughout the Year! The white plastic electric Advent stars are available in two sizes (21-inch ~ $30; and 12-inch ~ $25) in the church office. The 12-inch star is designed to be used as a tree topper or hanging star. These stars make great gifts year round: showers, birthdays, weddings, etc. Complete instructions for assembly are included. Our Fellowship Opportunities Brown Bag Fellowship Lunch The monthly meeting of the Brown Bag Fellowship Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, October 10, at noon in the social hall. Please bring your lunch; coffee will be provided. Remember that we voted to meet only once a month on the second Wednesday. Please plan to be here to enjoy the fellowship of your church family and guests. As always, guests are most welcome. 7

8 Artists and Non-artists Are Needed for Our Art Mural Project Our painting project continues on Wednesday Nights, Oct. 10 & 17. Sarah Kosmala and Pastor John will lead these two remaining sessions from 6:30-8 p.m. or until the project is completed. Artists of varied interests, ages, and abilities are welcome to join us in the social hall as we paint together the mural Life Flows Best Downstream. These painted panels will be on display in the Artist s Corner of the Dover town public square from Nov. 15 to Jan. 3. Come join us as we paint to complete this project. We will see the mural in church on Sunday, October 28, in the sanctuary. 8

The Psalms lead us through Kay s reflections, reminding us how the Bible writers also shared their personal reflections on life. As Kay notes: These are events in my life that make me smile or laugh out loud. Sometimes they make me tear up or make me stop and take notice.
