Christian leadership is sometimes lacking these days and we shall explore the lessons taught by classic leaders of Genesis. Bring the entire family and enjoy the day together! 9 Music Ministry Opportunities The Music Department at First Moravian begins another season of music ministry on Wednesday, September 5. We invite members and friends of the congregation to participate in our music program. Morning Stars Choir ~ Children in Kindergarten-Grade 5 rehearse on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in the Social Hall. The choir will be staffed by Jan Shanklin and Lee Elliott. Youth Choir ~ Youth in Grades 6-12 rehearse on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. in the church Basement. The choir will be staffed by Kathy Blair Bergstrom and Nancy Gibbs. Wolle Bell Choir ~ Beginning bell players will meet at 6 p.m. each Wednesday in the Bell Room. Wolle Bell Choir is open for Grade 5 through Adult and is directed by Donna Keller. Chancel Choir ~ Rehearses each Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. in the Loft. The choir is opened to anyone who wishes to sing, grow in your faith, and provide music for worship. Reeves Handbell Choir ~ Participation is by invitation, based on skill and open positions in the choir. Church Band ~ Open to anyone playing an instrument. 6 Our Fellowship Opportunities The John Heckewelder Memorial Moravian Church of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, Women s Fellowship is proud to host the 2018 Moravian Women s Fellowship Mid-States Fall Retreat October 5 & 6, 2018 Our guest speakers will be the Rev. Patricia Garner, Worldwide Moravian Church Unity Women s Desk Coordinator, and the Ret. Rev. Dr. Kay Ward. Dr. Ward is a minister, author, and the first woman elected as a bishop in the Moravian Church in America. She has served in other capacities throughout the wider church and was on staff at Moravian Seminary. Registration forms are available on the lobby bulletin board. The Mission Project for this retreat will be the making of Birthing Kits for Honduras. A sign-up sheet for the list of items needed is in the lobby. Deadline is Sept. 8. We are very excited to see everyone and know that God is leading and showing us His light so we can share His light to the world in love, in mission, and in Faith. Moravian Women Bible Studies Just a reminder The Moravian Women Bible Study on Genesis will meet on Monday, August 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the church living room. The Bible Study on David the Tender Warrior by David Jeremiah, will be held the first Thursday in September, instead of the second Thursday, at 6:30 p.m. Hope to see everyone on the 6 th. Ecumenical Men's Fellowship Breakfast Calling all men...invite your friends, brothers, uncles, sons, and grandsons to attend the Fall Kick-off Ecumenical Men's Fellowship Breakfast. The food will be delicious and the fellowship fantastic! Mark your calendars now for Saturday, September 15, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the social hall at the First Moravian Church of Dover. Brushstroke Art Class Remember last year, Karen Gazdik came to lead our church family in a spring "pastel" art event? Well, she is returning this fall on Thursday, September 20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the social hall of the church. Karen offers this evening class focusing on the medium of watercolors. You are invited to come and join us as you procure those artistic skills deeply embedded in your frame. You will leave her class with your own masterpiece. The cost of the watercolor class is $5. That's it. You can hardly get a fast-food meal for that. Sign up at the church office by September 15. What a deal! The event is open to anyone with the desire to explore this medium of art. All the supplies will be provided for you. The class is limited, however, to 20 people of junior high age and up! Come and join us as we paint up a gift and learn a lot about ourselves and the creative process God forges in our lives as he paints on our canvas
