1 CONNECT BETHEL CHURCH SEPTEMBER 2014 Welcome to Bethel Welcome to Bethel! We are so glad to have you here! As you look through this Connect Bulletin, we trust that you will quickly find that Bethel has something for you and your family. Our hope is that you will take the next step into our community and get involved. As you do, you will begin to see that Bethel is more than just a Sunday service, it is a family of everyday people following Christ to bring hope and change to the world - one life at a time.
2 A Church is never more like the New Testament Church than when it is Praying In 1 Kings chapter 18, Elijah the prophet says to the King Get up for there is the sound of the abundance of rain. He said this after 3 years of long drought and famine. After making this statement, we find Elijah taking a position of prayer as his servant watches for the clouds. An act of action and faith. I have never been more excited for a season of ministry as the one we are about to enter into. Simply put I hear the sound of the abundance of rain! Spiritual rain! Rain is absolutely essential for survival and for flourishing. The same with the rain of the Spirit of God. Just like Elijah, this sound of rain is causing me to pursue the place of prayer like never before and to watch for the clouds. Notice Elijah heard it before he saw it! Do you hear it? Is there an excitement in your heart for the things of God? We are living in perilous times in this world. People are troubled. Instability is everywhere. The Spirit of God is telling me that this is the time to hear the sound from heaven. This is the time to pray like never before. And this is the time for the harvest. I prophesy that Bethel church is entering into its greatest season of harvest. But we must be ready for it and prepare the ground to receive the flood of the rain of God.This is done through prayer. History confirms the truth that wherever evangelism and the spirit of revival flourishes, there lives within a people a holy desire for prayer. No great spiritual awakening has begun anywhere in the world apart from united prayer. Prayer is the pulse of the church. A church is never more like the New Testament church than when it is praying. And so Bethel church, I charge you today to hear the sound, pray like never before, and watch for the clouds! If so, an abundance of rain is on the way! - BE A PART OF OUR PRAYER FORCE Join Our Prayer Team Sign-up to be a part of our Bethel Intercessory Prayer Team. Receive weekly prayer updates, answers to prayer and encouragement. Also be alerted to special prayer requests that come to the office. Sign-up at the Connect Desk or thru Church Office. Prayer Breakfast Sunday Sept 14th Join Pastor Tim at 8:30AM in the Gym for a special Prayer Breakfast as he shares specifically with the Prayer Team prophetically where he believes the Lord is leading Bethel in the coming months and in specific prayer targets. There is no cost for this breakfast. Sign-up by Wed Sept 10th. Prayer Book An exciting new book on Prayer declarations for Canada has just been released. A powerful aid in praying for revival in Canada. You can purchase your own copy through the church office or Giving Kiosk for just $13.

4 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FAMILY FUN DAY 2014 Family Fun Day is our BIGGEST Outreach of the year! It is our opportunity as a church to bless our community with a 100% FREE Family Event. Not only will we provide our community a great fun event at no cost, but they will get to see our church in action and see what a great place Bethel is! WHAT S DIFFERENT THIS YEAR? 1. BIGGER SHOWS We have added several bigger entertainment acts. Check out the ad on the next page for all performances and shows we have lined up! 2. ADDED HOUR This year we have added 1 more hour to get all the entertainment shows in. This year Family Fun Day will run from 12PM to 5PM. 3. PARKING AT HIAWATHA SHUTTLE BUSES TO BETHEL Last year we had over 2,000 guests at Family Fun Day. This year our goal is to have over 3,000 guests. However, our parking lot cannot handle that number. So Hiawatha has generously donated the use of their parking lot and buses will shuttle our guests to Bethel. HELP US PROMOTE FAMILY FUN DAY! 1. Tell your friends, neighbours, co-workers, business associates, etc. about Family Fun Day! Give out invite postcards to each of them. 2. Use Social media and to let your circle of friends know. Watch for our Facebook Family Fun Day Event Page. Like and share our promotion and videos. 3. Distribute invite cards in your neighbourhood home mailboxes. 6 ALPHA EXPERIENCE STORIES We discovered rich nuggets of life changing information weekly. We have been blessed from the richness of fellowship with the sharing of prayers for the needs of others. Romans 12:15 - Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. - Jim and Gail Milne Doing the Alpha course was a very wonderful choice for me. At a time when I felt that my faith was being tested or at least a time when I was actually questioning my faith - after the untimely death of my husband - the course deepened my faith. I now feel that I have a better relationship with my Saviour (I didn t really know that I did not have that relationship before). I learned who Jesus was, why he died, why I should pray and read the Bible, how I can be filled with the Spirit, how God guides me and how I can make the most of my life. I looked forward to returning to each session of fellowship and strongly recommend the Alpha Course. - Susan Mitchell I recently had the pleasure of taking this 10 week course. Alpha is very interesting and brought me closer to the Word of the Lord God, answering with clarity questions about the Bible and how it relates to our personal life. The weekly video sessions were very informative and provoked questions to encourage and deepen my Christian walk. In the group setting with others we learned about trust, and had the opportunity of building closer relationships with fellow Christian followers. I would highly recommend this Alpha course; it was an enjoyable time, and the open group discussions were very informative and rewarding. Wonderful fellowship time for all! - Phyllis George
