We are thankful that Stan Preston's eye surgery went well and pray for complete recovery. Pray for Westside CRC and the committee of Classis Toronto that will meet with its Council to encourage them to remain in the CRC. But we also want to celebrate Scott and his family with a party to thank Scott for his time with us and to bless him on his way. We hope to do this on the Sunday evening of June 2. In

4 order to plan for this we are looking for a party planning committee whose role will be to, plan the format and content for the evening, and the food we will enjoy. She can provide a list of responsibilities. Once a committee has been established a chair will be assigned and your work can begin. Outreach Ministry ANSWERS IN GENESIS - The Canadian Gujarati Christ Church, which worships in our building, has invited Dr. Calvin Smith from Answers in Genesis to equip us for sharing the Gospel in today's culture while looking at the missing puzzle piece in Genesis (Creation). This is the perfect event for us to learn how to defend our faith, including how to respond to questions about creation, evolution, science and the age of the earth. It will take place here at CrossPoint on Sunday March 24, 2019 with refreshments to follow. At 1:30 pm the presentation will be "Genesis: the Missing Piece of the Puzzle", and at 3:30 pm the presentation will be "Sharing the Gospel in Today's Culture". 6 LENT: The period of Lent is the time in the Church Year set aside to contemplate Jesus death and resurrection. Here is an explanation from the Worship Sourcebook : Lent is a season of preparation and repentance during which we anticipate Good Friday and Easter. Just as we carefully prepare for big events in our personal lives, such as a wedding or commencement, Lent invites us to make our hearts ready for remembering Jesus passion and celebrating Jesus resurrection. The practice of a forty-day preparation period began in the Christian church during the third and fourth centuries. The number forty carries biblical significance based on the forty years Israel spent in the wilderness and Jesus forty-day fast in the wilderness. The traditional colour for Lent is purple. For Lent this year, we are focusing on Jesus Questions in Lent to help us remember and reflect. You will see the image of puzzle pieces used throughout the series to indicate that people seek to find answers to some puzzling questions about Jesus. We will also be experiencing some of the Sights and Sounds of Lent to help us remember and reflect. March 24th Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is all about empowering the local church to relieve the poverty they see in their neighbourhoods. The offerings collected by CrossPoint will be used to fund the CAP Debt Center that is being run through our church. This Debt Center at CrossPoint is about serving the poor and marginalized in our own community by offering professional debt counselling, in the name of the Lord, to those who otherwise could not afford it. Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses. Proverbs 28:27
