Wisdom People St. Daniel Senior Citizens Group The next Wisdom People Meeting will be Friday, January 6 th, 2017 following the 12:10 Mass. After Mass there will be a luncheon for $4 and Howie Bartolo will be the entertainment. PLEASE NOTE: We will also be electing our 2017 officers at the January 6 th meeting. St. Daniel Wisdom People November Recipes 1 pound ground turkey meat (preferably dark) ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon pepper 1 tablespoon light olive oil or canola oil 1 large onion, chopped 2 carrots,

6 St. Daniel Wisdom People November Recipes 1 pound ground turkey meat (preferably dark) ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon pepper 1 tablespoon light olive oil or canola oil 1 large onion, chopped 2 carrots, peeled and chopped 2 celery stalks, peeled and chopped 2 teaspoons sweet chili powder 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon fresh oregano 1 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes ¼ cup tomato paste 1 tablespoon brown sugar 2 (15 ounce) cans reduced sodium beef broth or chicken broth 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes 1 (15 ounce) can "no salt added" kidney beans or navy beans, drained, rinsed Sprinkle turkey with salt and pepper. In large stockpot, heat oil over high heat; add turkey and cook 1 to 2 minutes, without turning or stirring, so turkey browns. Decrease heat to medium, add onion, carrots, celery, sweet chili powder, cumin, oregano, red pepper flakes, tomato paste and brown sugar. Cook 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables begin to soften and tomato paste becomes fragrant. Add broth and canned tomatoes; bring mixture to a boil. Cover and reduce immediately to a simmer, cooking for about 45 minutes until vegetables are tender. Fold in beans during the last 2 minutes of cooking and serve.
