3 FROM THE SENIOR WARDEN, November 1, 2015 was a glorious day for Trinity Episcopal Church! The All Saints Day Service was attended by over 187 people including member families, City Officials, special guests, and newcomers. All who attended had the pleasure of enjoying a solemn service conducted by Fr. Charles that included a baptism, a music program provided by Jack Levick, our Music Director, featuring an organ, full choir, and brass ensemble, and a fabulous reception afterwards hosted by the Trinity ECW. Special thanks go to all those individuals who helped make this Restoration Celebration happen. I would also like to thank everyone who helped with the Trinity Episcopal Church renovation through their prayers and donations. It was a great occasion for all of us to celebrate our beautiful church which gives such glory and honor to God. Parishioners and visitors, upon entering the church on morning, were able to see the completed work of a restoration project that brought our church back to its original design of more than two hundred and fifty years ago. The project, which began fourteen months ago, was aimed at returning the church to the beauty of the past. One of our main goals is to make Trinity a Beacon of Faith, where individual acts of kindness and charity to others prevail. I am confident that when people hear of and see our success they will want to come to visit. I would also like to acknowledge the beginning of our annual Stewardship pledge drive. Each of you should have received a letter and pledge card asking you to prayerfully contemplate what you are thankful for in the Trinity community and to pledge from your heart. Please try to have the pledge cards completed and returned by Nov 30, 2015, so we can complete our 2016 budget. There are many activities planned at Trinity for the Fall season. Take advantage of helping Trinity Episcopal Church grow by inviting a friend or neighbor to come join in on our fellowship. In particular, save, November 22, 2015 for a visit and celebration with The Rt. Rev. Herman Hollerith IV, our Bishop from the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. Respectfully, Irv Lindley Senior Warden ST. ELIZABETH S GUILD The St. Elizabeth s Guild meets at 10:30 am in the Parish Hall on the second Tuesday of each month. We began the new season in September, and our next meeting will be held Tuesday, November 10th. There will be NO MEETING IN DECEMBER. We will begin again in the new year with our first meeting on January 12th. All women of Trinity Episcopal Church are invited to attend the meetings. Programs this year are focused on Why We Do What We Do and you should find them interesting and informative! At the last meeting we discussed the bells used during the service when and why they are rung. We all learned something! Come join us! Trumpet Page 3

5 RESTORATION PROJECT UPDATE NAVE REPAIRS Complete--Almost Thanks to the hard work of many people, we are on schedule for the grand opening on November 1st. The only thing missing will be the lighting control panel. This should be completed before the Bishop visits on November 22. BELL TOWER REPAIRS Erection of the scaffolding to work on the bell tower will begin on Monday, 2 November. After the scaffolding is complete, the cap will be removed for storage off site. The tower will be carefully deconstructed and the historic materials will cleaned and stored for use when we begin to reconstruct the tower. The architect and historic renovation consultants will be carefully documenting the work to insure the tax credit eligibility. During this work the nave will be fully accessible through the first floor of the tower. Completion is expected in the middle of COMMON ROOM E. T. Gresham will be removing the abandoned hot water radiators, repairing the wainscoting, and converting the 2-prong ungrounded electrical receptacles to 3-prong grounded receptacles. Select the type of tree or Wreath (Pine, Spruce, Fir) and the approximate tree height you would like. Make a check payable to Boys Home Christmas Tree Farm, for the price plus 6% sales tax, and leave your order form and check in the Church Office no later than, November 29th. Your tree will be delivered to Trinity and available for pick-up the first weekend of December. Order forms will be available on the Trinity website and in the Church Office.

7 RECENT ACTIVITIES AT TRINITY SPAGHETTI DINNER Recently the Brotherhood held a spaghetti dinner as part of Fall Fest weekend. Keir Ballinger s famous spaghetti sauce was a hit! Keir, Pete Kloeppel and Paul Radford are working hard in the Trinity kitchen! Fr. Charles, Fran Gill and others enjoying the dinner! Dean Burgess hosted an Ushers Dinner recently to review schedules, assignments and other ushering issues for the upcoming months back in the Nave. Art Students from Churchland High recently toured Trinity s graveyard, taking rubbings from gravestones, as part of a special art history project. Trumpet page 5

8 YOUTH/CHRISTIAN FORMATION ACTIVITIES GHOST WALK Recently several members of our youth group sold hot dogs, soda and water at the Olde Towne Ghost Walk October 30 to raise money for a trip to Busch Gardens. We re happy to say they reached their goal of $150! Congratulations and thanks to those who participated and the adults who assisted with this event! ADULT CHRISTIAN FORMATION Chrissy Smith will be leading a class during Adult Christian Formation beginning November 8th. The topic is the history and creation of the traditional Rosary. Please be sure to sign up in the Church Office for this program so Chrissy can have the right amount of materials available for making your own rosary to use during the Advent Season and beyond.
