1 For Members and Friends of St. Paul s UCC Fleetwood It Must Be October! I want to take this opportunity to let you know about some very important events coming up during the month of October at St. Paul s. Saturday, October 1, Blessing of the Animals- The service will start at 10 AM and will be held on the front lawn weather permitting. You may bring your pet(s) to be blessed by one of the Pastor s. "For everything God created is good...for it is sanctified by God's word and prayer" 1Timothy 4:4 Sunday, October 2, World Wide Communion-At this special worship service we acknowledge that we gather around the table with fellow believers around the world celebrating the sacred gift of the Eucharist. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. II Corinthians 13:13 Sunday, October 9, CROP Walk Sunday-As has been our tradition for the past nine years, area churches will walk for hunger, raising money to support Church World Service and their fight against world hunger. The walk starts at 1 PM at Fleetwood High School. What a great way to spend the afternoon! Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. Matthew 25:40b Sunday, October 16, Family Worship Service- The Sunday School will be closed and the children will be actively incorporated into the worship services. Services will feature: Exploration of the Fruit of the Spirit: Self-Control, active family participation as greeters/ readers/musicians and child-friendly language. Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs. Mathew 19:14 Sunday, October 23, Hymn Sing-Our hymn sing Sundays are inspirational and extremely moving as we gather to sing our all-time favorite hymns. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing. Psalm 100:2 Sunday, October 30, Harvest Home, Stewardship Sunday, Jazz Sunday.-One of my favorite services of the church year. An important worship experience as we recognize the gift of God s bountiful goodness. We also have an opportunity to rededicate ourselves as faithful stewards of the church by presenting our pledge cards for And if that is not enough, it s also Jazz Sunday! As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God s varied grace. First Peter 4:10 So come, let us worship our God! Bring a friend, a neighbor, anyone who needs to be inspired by good worship rooted in the word of God! See you there, Pastor Pat Just a quick heads-up! As of the beginning of October we are running in a $36,000 deficit which is not all that unusual for the beginning of the Fall. If you are able, please consider a CLOSE THE GAP offering to insure that we end the year in the BLACK!!

4 As we approach the fall of 2016 it is time to begin planning for the Sunday morning gifts to the church for the coming year. These gifts include the altar flowers, the bulletins, The Upper Room publication and special flower tributes. For 2017 the cost of the bulletins will be $35.00 per week and for The Upper Room booklet $50.00 per month both of which are payable to the church. The cost of the flowers is determined by and payable to the florist. We will continue to utilize the services of Tracey's Flowers in Fleetwood to supply the flowers for church on a Sunday morning. The church secretary, Linda Speece, will place the flower order with Tracey unless you, as the sponsor, choose to order the flowers from another florist. If you do choose another florist, please let Linda know your wishes when she contacts you for the wording to be placed in the bulletins. The schedule of gifts for 2017 does not automatically carry over from the previous year; therefore, we will begin filling in 2017 Sundays in September, Please stop by the table in the narthex to sign up for the Sunday you wish to sponsor one of the weekly gifts. Dolores Eastland for the Women s Guild We want to thank the pastors, staff, and the many members of St. Paul's for all the prayers, cards, hugs and caring concern you have extended to our family over the last few weeks. Just as there are no words to express the feeling of loss upon Nicholas' death, there are not enough ways to say thank you to all of you for your care and support. Knowing that the St. Paul's family is ever present and remains in contact with us both physically and in prayer is a source of strength and comfort. When you see a butterfly think of it as a thank you from us and our butterfly loving grandson, Nicholas Adam Mumma. In peace, love, and thanks, Sharon and Malcolm Dreibelbis.
