This willingness stems from true faith in God, and the knowledge that the Lord will always be his help. Second Reading: James 2:14-18 James states that if someone is hungry and you wish them well but do not help them, you have done them no good. He compares this to stating your faith, without backing it up with your actions. He reminds us that we must show our faith through our good works. Gospel: Mark 8:27-35 Jesus taught his disciples that as the Messiah, he had to suffer much, be put to death, and rise three days later. Peter began to disagree and Jesus reprimanded him for judging by human standards rather than by God s. He told them that whoever would be willing to lose their life for the sake of Jesus and the gospel, will in fact preserve their life forever. Welcome to the Family Shawn Aidan Talbot Child of Maria Velayo and Daniel Talbot Emma Mendes Cardoso Child of Ana Lucia Cardoso and Antonio Nascimento Baptisms are performed on all Sundays except for the second week of the Month. Please call the Rectory and make an appointment with a priest and schedule for baptismal preparation classes Prayer for those who lost a loved one We offer our condolences to the families and friends of Elizabeth Bober May the soul and the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in Peace

3 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK: (September 12-13, 2015) On Saturday after the noon mass Fr Alex blessed the new sidewalk that has been replaced. This project was fulfilled by your gracious generosity to St Elizabeth. More donations have come in to help cover the costs of this much needed project. I mentioned that our front patio will start soon with pavers and a memorial to finish up our Capital Campaign, however the rain has delayed yet another week. I know how much we need the rain so hopefully they will start this Monday. In the gospel reading today, Mark presented the true identity of Jesus with a simple question. When we answer his question, we define ourselves as a true follower or merely as a passerby. The answer to his question may give clarity to life, but it also brings the criticism of others. With a simple question (who do you say I am?), Jesus defined his role on earth and our place in relation to him. Despite the expectations of others, he would have to carry the cross suffer and die. We to must face these same trials and tribulations in order that we will remain with him in heaven. God is with us always! Fr. Ed Jocson, THE PARISH FINANCES Please remember to put all your envelopes and cash donations in the single collection basket. God bless you for your continued generosity. God s Plan for Giving Week of 09/06/2015 $ 5, Total Giving A/C Collection $ $6, Archdiocesan Assessment $ 4, Collected to Date $ 1, Still Needed: $ 3, Thank you for your generosity 2015 Envelopes If you currently are not using envelopes please call the rectory and we can easily get you signed up. Whoever loves money will never have enough money; whoever loves wealth will not be satisfied with it. Ecclesiastes 5:10 Please keep in mind that if you are moving make the Rectory aware. We need to keep are records current and to let the envelope company know of the change address or to discontinue, thanks. This week 09/13/2015 Please use Weekly & The Central and Eastern European Churches. Next week 09/20/2015 Please use Weekly and Fuel and Heat Envelopes thank you in advance for your generosity ORGANIZATIONS/ASSOCIATIONS Up Coming Meetings Building & Facilities (Rectory) November 9 th 7 PM Rosary Altar Society October 6 th 7 PM Liturgy Committee (Rectory) September 14th 7 PM Pastoral Committee(Rectory) September 16th 7 PM SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION ~ CCD Registration has opened on line.
