3 Something Beautiful No. 507 Something beautiful, something good; all my confusion He understood. All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife, but He made something beautiful of my life. Copyright 1971 by William J. Gaither. BENEDICTION POSTLUDE Moment Musicale Stults MATTHEW 5:4; I Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NIV) Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one and other with these words. CONGREGATION PLEASE STAND (AS YOU ARE ABLE) **Assisted Hearing devices and large print hymnals are available for use during traditional services. Please contact an usher if you would like to use one of these. 3

4 WE HAVE GATHERED AS A FAMILY OF FAITH Twenty-first Sunday after Pentecost October 13, :15 a.m. The Church at Litchfield Park, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God, welcomes everyone who comes to the doors of this House of Prayer for all People. CHIMES A Charge to Keep I Have Carillon Handbell Choir WELCOME, REGISTRATION and ANNOUNCEMENTS MINISTRY MOMENT PRELUDE In The Garden Miles/Hayes BRINGING IN THE LIGHT CALL TO WORSHIP: L: Jesus died and rose again, promising eternal life to all who believe in him. P: We believe that those who have died believing in Christ shall also be raised. L: They shall be raised to life, and be forever with our Lord. P: Our hope is in Christ who assures us that we shall share in his resurrection. HYMN In the Cross of Christ I Glory No. 328 (Verses 1, 3 & 4) COLLECT (In Unison) Loving God, who raised your Son in glory, and promised that same glory to all who believe in him: Keep us mindful of the hope you have given us in your Son; that, with our Christian friends who have gone before us in death, we may share in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In our daily brokenness, may we remember that unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it bears no fruit. Grant that we might plant the seed of hope and faith in the lives of those around us. In the name of the risen Christ. Amen. PASTORAL PRAYER 4
