Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. P: We gather as a people of faith, seeking God and attempting to discern the way we should live our lives. L: God has spoken clearly to us in the scriptures about what he requires of us: to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. P: May we receive the simplicity of this message from God into our hearts and assimilate that message into our lives, Amen. 7 Announcements for February 2, 2014 Take time to check out what s happening Annual Meeting Women s Fellowship Confirmation Classes D.I.Y. 2 nd Saturday Wednesday Night Programs Family Movie Night Links Players Choirs and D backs W.C.S.F. Retreat Meeting Dinner Theatre Scholarships ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting for the church will be on Sunday, February 23 rd, at 11:45 a.m. in Souers Hall. This is when new officers and the budget will be voted on. The meeting is open to everyone, but only church members will be able to vote. Please mark your calendar to attend this meeting. Your attendance is important in the planning for the future of our church and a quorum of the congregation is needed. CONFIRMATION CLASSES BEGIN Confirmation classes will begin Thursday, February 27 th, from 6:30 7:30 p.m. Confirmation is the process where youth in eighth grade (age 13) or older learn about the Christian faith and make an intentional commitment to give their lives to the Lord. Following confirmation studies, youth are received into membership in the church. Confirmation will also include baptism for those who have not previously been baptized. Confirmation dates will be February 27, March 6, 20, 27, April 3, and 10. The confirmation celebration will be part of our Palm Sunday service on April 13. Please sign up in Souers Hall if you are interested. If you have any questions, please see Pastor Kerri. WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMS Regular Wednesday night programs continue. Dinner this week will be beef tips on rice, peas, salad, rolls, and jello. Programs will include G.O. Kids Rec. Room, G.O. Kids, 4C Joyful Noise, 4C Chimin In, 4C V.I.P., Chancel Choir, Heavenly Handbells, CLP Café, and Bible Study. See the weekly calendar for times and locations. LENTEN JOURNEY Ashes to Fire, a Lenten devotional, is available for your personal use (not tied to any class) at the church s group price of $7 for a paperback, leather bound is $15. You may order a copy by signing up in Souers Hall. The group price deadline is February 14 th. Please make checks payable to The Church at Litchfield Park with Ashes to Fire in the memo line. 8 LINKS PLAYERS TOMORROW Throughout the United States men and women with golf in common are discovering that there are things much more valuable to be shared in life than stories of birdies and bogeys. In Links Players Fellowships, golf meets life. Men and women open the Bible together and study the essential matters of Scripture. They pray for one another, celebrate victories together, challenge one another to live as the Bible teaches and even play golf together. They reach out to others by spreading the good news of Jesus through fellowship and golf. We invite you to join us as we start a new Links Players Fellowship at the Wigwam Golf Resort. We plan to meet weekly beginning Monday, February 3 rd, at 9:00 a.m. We will meet in Red s Restaurant at the Wigwam. Hope to see you there. Women s Retreat, Aligning Our Hearts with God, will be April 4 th 5 th at the Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites in Avondale. The goal of this retreat is to seek knowledge in self-love and understanding, seek growth in the knowledge and love of God, and seek ways to love and serve in the community. We always have great fellowship with our sisters in Christ, and it is a great time to relax, have fun and make new friends. The cost of the retreat is $100 with a $50 deposit required at the time of registration. Sign up in Souers Hall today through February 23 rd. Scholarships are available; inquire at the registration table. Circle 3 On Wednesday, February 26 th, at 11:30 a.m. in the La Loma Sonoran Dining room, Circle 3 will have a luncheon and fund raiser with a Hawaiian theme. Luncheon will consist of macadamia nut crusted chicken breast on a bed of baby greens, garnished with pineapple, bananas, mangos, papaya and strawberries; served with a citrus vinaigrette dressing, coconut cake, iced tea and coffee. All proceeds from this fundraiser will be deposited into the Circle 3 account for the New Life Center Towel Project. Your tax-deductible donation of $12 will be your reservation. Reservations may be made with Joan Ragsdale, Betty Gerlak or Marge Moore, or call the church office at (623) All monies must be received by Thursday, February 20 th. Checks should be made payable to The Church at Litchfield Park and NLC Towel Project in the memo line. Wear your favorite Hawaiian outfit! Circle 6 Circle 6 will meet on Wednesday, February 12 th, at 6:45 p.m. in the Watt House, immediately following the family dinner in Souers Hall. Kids activities and nursery care are provided. 9 SECOND SATURDAY D.I.Y. On Saturday, February 8 th, at 7:30 a.m., all are invited to join hands and hearts together on the Second Saturday DIY: Do-It-Yourself ministry. At 7:30 a.m. Pastor Dale will prepare breakfast. From 8:00 9:30 a.m. we will tackle projects around the church. Sign up in Souers Hall between services. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT IN SOUERS HALL February s movie is the G rated, Disney classic Lady and the Tramp. It will be shown in Souers Hall on Friday, February 21 st, at 6:00 p.m. Hot dogs and popcorn will be served. Invite your friends and neighbors all are welcome. Please sign up in Souers Hall so we can be sure to have enough food. COMBINED CHOIRS PERFORM AT D BACKS GAME The Diamondbacks and The Church at Litchfield Park invite you to bring your family and friends to the game on Sunday, April 27 th, against the Philadelphia Phillies. All attendees will receive a special discount on tickets. The combined adult and children s choirs of the church will perform the National Anthem on the field prior to the game. The performance will also be highlighted on DBTV. Diamond Level, Club Box seats in Sections and are $50 each, and these seats include $5 in D-bucks. Lower Level, Baseline Reserve seats in Sections and are $25 each. Sign up in Souers Hall for this fun day at the park. Deadline to turn in money for your tickets is Friday, April 4 th. DEADLINE FOR DINNER THEATRE TICKETS The dinner show Kiss Me Kate, sponsored by Good Times Fellowship, the seniors group, is sold out. If you signed up but have not yet paid, the money ($64.45 per ticket) is due by Sunday, February 16 th. For more information, contact Mary Meese, (623) THE CHURCH AT LITCHFIELD PARK SCHOLARSHIPS High School Seniors If college is in your future and you could use some financial assistance, it s time to apply for The Church at Litchfield Park Scholarship. Women s Christian Service Fellowship (W.C.S.F.) will award a total of three $1,000 scholarships. One is reserved for an applicant whose family is a member of The Church at Litchfield Park and has been for at least one year. The other two are open to any graduate from the Agua Fria High School District. Applications are available in Souers Hall today, from the church office during the week, or at your high school career center. Deadline to apply is Friday, March 21, Interviews will be required for all finalists. The interview date will be Saturday morning, April 12 th. Questions?
