2 Our sermon series, Joy in the Midst continues. In a time of concern and uncertainty about the future, we have God s assurance in the book of Philippians that even in the midst of life s difficulties and challenges, we can rejoice in the Lord with courage and confidence. Our winter worship themes will help us find and live in this unique joy, regardless of our circumstances. February 5 Stand Firm Philippians 3:17-4:7 February 12 Think on These Things (UCM) Philippians 4:8-9 February 19 All Things Through Christ Philippians 4:10-23 February 26 Joy in the Midst: Philippians 1-4 Presentation of the Letter of Philippians This Sunday's Scripture (click here) Christian Education Connections for All, Sundays at 9:30 a.m. ADULTS Three adult education classes will be offered this weekend. Please consider attending a class to enrich your spiritual growth. The Present Word, led by Dennis Brewer and Jane Steinkraus, will explore how to join in praise of God s creative power and ongoing care for creation through the Psalms. (Calvin 203) The Open Door Class, led by Carol Van Scyoc, will study the book, All the Places to Go... How Will You Know, by best-selling author John Ortberg. This class will explore how to recognize divine opportunities in daily life, walk through open doors with confidence, and overcome the fear of missing out or of making the wrong choice. Are you ready for an adventure? (Calvin 202) The Great Divorce by C. S. Lewis is led by Derrik Olsen and Rev. Phil Butin. This class centers around open sharing and discussion of the issues of life and death, heaven and hell, grace and judgment, and personal accountability for the lives we live. The book is an imaginative fantasy about a bus trip from hell to heaven, and is a delightful read. If you would like for us to order a copy of the book for you, the cost will be $10. (Calvin 201) CHILDREN AND YOUTH Our youngest children hear a Bible story in the nursery in Lower Calvin. Preschoolers and Elementary ages meet in the Knox building for an engaging time of learning. Middle 2

3 School students also meet in Knox, where they are learning the stories of Jesus life this winter. Youth Connections (9 th -12 th grade): Meets in Lower Witherspoon to study tough questions about God and faith through the Sticky Faith, Can I Ask That? curriculum.
