1 WEEKEND UPDATE FRIDAY, APRIL 19, Scriptures for April 21, Job 19: 23-27a O that my words were written down! O that they were inscribed in a book! 24 O that with an iron pen and with lead they were engraved on a rock forever! 25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the last he will stand upon the earth; 26 and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then in my flesh I shall see God, 27 whom I shall see on my side, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. Luke 24: They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost. 38 He said to them, Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have. 40 And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 While in their joy they were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, Have you anything here to eat? 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate in their presence. 44 Then he said to them, These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you-- that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled. 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, 46 and he said to them, Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. 50 Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven. 52
2 And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy; 53 and they were continually in the temple blessing God. HEALING TOUCH PRAYER MINISTRY NEWS Two Healing Touch Training Workshops are scheduled this spring in Fayetteville. Healing Touch is a relaxing, nurturing energy therapy in which gentle touch helps to restore balance and promote well-being. Holistic in nature, it affects all dimensions of the human energy system physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The Healing Touch Prayer Ministry at Hi Acres is staffed by volunteers from FUPC, St. Paul s, and other faith communities who are trained to practice Healing Touch as a form of prayerful intercession. The intention is to serve God s vision of wholeness for body, mind and spirit. Healing Touch Workshops are nursing-based, continuing education programs for nurses, physicians, body therapists, counselors, psycho-therapists, other health professionals, and any individuals desiring in-depth understanding of healing work using energy based concepts. Both Levels 1 and 3 workshops being offered provide 16 continuing education contact hours, and a certificate of program completion. The cost is $340. Ministry members receive partial scholarships. Anyone interested in helping cover the cost of training volunteers may direct their gifts to St. Paul's Healing Touch ministry.
6 Healing Touch Level 1 Workshop will be Friday, April 26, Saturday April 27, from 8:30 am-6:00 pm. at Hi Acres Estate, 500 N. Sequoyah Dr, Fayetteville, AR Healing Touch Level 3 Workshop will be Sunday, April 28 Monday, April 29, 8:30 am 6:00 pm, also at Hi-Acres. Questions can be directed to Jane Steinkraus , janesteinkraus@gmail.com. Registration forms can be ed on request. STILL TIME TO PURCHASE AND DEDICATE GLORY TO GOD HYMNALS Glory to God hymnals (coming out in the Fall of 2013) may still be purchased through the Church Office to honor or remember loved ones. Cost is $15.00 per hymnal. We appreciate these gifts to our sanctuary. Look for forms in the narthex. REMEMBERING OTHER CONGREGATIONS IN OUR PRAYERS Please remember in prayer other congregations in our presbytery as they strive to bring God s word and love to their communities. This Sunday and during this week, we pray for Central Presbyterian Church, Fort Smith, and the Korean Ministry Fellowship, Fort Smith. PORTABLE HEARING DEVICES AT THE BACK OF THE SANCTUARY A hearing loop system is installed in the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall for T-coil hearing aid users. Portable hearing devices (and guidance in using them) are available at the sound booth for those whose hearing aids are not compatible with this system. After worship, please return the headset to the soundboard operator. If you are having trouble hearing through your T-Coil, the first step is to consult your audiologist to be sure it is properly set up. If you still have problems, please try sitting in a slightly different place in the sanctuary. We have discovered that there may be some places where reception is better than others. We are checking into this to see if it can be rectified. ADDRESSES TO MAIL CARDS AND NOTES To Rev. Lee Power Rev. Lee Power The Summit at Westlake Hills Healthcare Center 1034 Liberty Park Drive
