SERMON Bringing our Demons to Jesus RESPONSE TO THE WORD Rev. Phil Butin *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from A Brief Statement of Faith) We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

5 any need or emergency. OUR ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING will take place on Sunday, February 18, from 12:15-1:45 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. We will have a meal will be catered by Penguin Ed s. More information will come, but for now, please reserve this date on your calendars. THE BOARD OF DEACONS WILL HAVE AN ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING TODAY from 12:15-2:00 p.m. in Upper Witherspoon. We will need full participation as we plan for a new year. Lunch will be served. THE FEBRUARY YOUNG ADULT S LUNCH will be the first Sunday on February 4, immediately after the 11:00 a.m. worship. We will gather in the Narthex and go out to eat together. This meal is on us; we want to bless you! PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN INVITE YOU TO A WINTER TEA on Sunday, February 25. Bring your family and friends and drop-in any time from 2:00-3:30 p.m. for a cup of hot tea and light refreshments. Please bring non-perishable food items to donate to the United Campus Ministries food pantry. Monetary donations or gift cards are also welcome. A list of food items needed for the pantry will be provided in the announcements prior to this event. TIME AND TALENT SHEETS are on the tall table in the Narthex for you to let us know how you would like to serve God through FUPC in Heidi Nash is completing the final compilation this week and we hope all members will take time today to fill one out. This presbytery event will be hosted here at FUPC on Saturday, April 7, from 9:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. There is no cost. Nine workshops will be offered (you ll be able to choose three) and we re hoping many of you will want to participate. Besides coming to learn, we ll also need some members to volunteer to extend a warm welcome to our guests. Please watch for more information and tell others.
