2 Introduction SARA - Distance Learning Words from the President Leadership is influence.one man can lead others only to the extent that he can influence them. The description of leadership offered by J. Oswald Sanders in Spiritual Leadership is a testimony of the ministry of the faculty and staff at International Baptist College and Seminary. From the day I first walked onto the campus, I have been impressed with the commitment of the IBCS team to impact the lives of students. Of course, it is one thing for the president and CEO of the college to have that perspective, but how do the students view the influence of the faculty and staff? At our recent Winter Formal event, several of our students shared the impact that various faculty members have had on their lives. Without naming individuals, let me share some of their comments. It is men like him that cause students at IBCS to desire to do great things for the Lord. Thank you for sacrificing your time to help me succeed in class. Your influence and compassion has meant the world to me in my young years of salvation. Thank you for showing me the love of Christ. Her familiar philosophy: "I teach students, not curriculum." When I look back at my time at IBCS, I am overwhelmed with gratefulness to the teachers and staff here who have poured their lives into me. She has challenged me spiritually to have a Christ-centered basis for all I do, reminding me that even in a secular job, my goal is still to serve and glorify God. From spending time in God's Word and dealing with areas of sin in my life, to discussing relationships, your place as mentor in my life is invaluable. He chose to invest in me. For that I am eternally grateful. Sanders observed that the true spiritual leader is concerned infinitely more with the service he can render God and his fellowmen than with the benefits and pleasures he can extract from life. The IBCS faculty and staff are people of influence who seek to mentor God-fearing leaders as they model God-fearing lives. IBCS, in conjunction with the Arizona State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (AZ SARA), the SARA National Council (NC-SARA), and the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education, continues to pursue authorization for distance education (Master of Arts in Ministry, Master of Divinity, and Doctor of Ministry). Once obtained, IBCS will be able to conduct distance education in 48+ member states, Washington, D.C., and the US Virgin Islands. Please pray with us that IBCS would be able to obtain this authorization. Pastor Ken Endean President International Baptist College & Semianry 2211 W Germann Rd Chandler, AZ (480) Follow us!
3 Summer Ministry We would like to thank our students for their dedication to ministry and service this past summer. Students reported the following numbers regarding their ministries: - 53 IBCS students ministered in 14 states and 4 countries - 4,284 individuals were influenced in the United States - 46,125 individuals were influenced in the Philippines and Indonesia - 53 students influenced 50,412 individuals On average, that is 951 individuals per 1 IBCS student Degrees Undergraduate Degree Programs Certificate in Biblical Studies Associate of Arts in Bible and Christian Service Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Christian Service (Pastoral Emphasis, Missions Emphasis, Church Music Emphasis, Church Ministries Emphasis) Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Teacher Education (Elementary Education Emphasis, Secondary Education Emphasis) Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Church Music Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Business Leadership Graduate Degree Programs "I don't think there is enough space for all GOD did this summer." ~Anonymous IBCS Student Degrees Master of Christian Education Master of Divinity Master of Arts in Ministry Doctor of Ministry What is the biggest benefit of attending IBCS? "The mentoring aspect. I learn a lot in class, but even more outside of class with mentors and hands-on ministry opportunities at Tri-City." "The knowledge it provides and the spiritual example from professors and leaders." "The positive encouragement to grow spiritually." "The teachers continue to be the biggest benefit of attending IBCS. The winter term teacher was amazing, the passion of the teachers is amazing, and the investment of the teachers is great." Mission Statement: The mission of International Baptist College and Seminary, in both its undergraduate and graduate programs, as an integral ministry of Tri-City Baptist Church, is to develop graduates and Christian leaders who glorify God and demonstrate their love for God and others by living a Biblical lifestyle, by obeying the Great Commission, and by championing the fundamentals of the historic Christian faith as they serve God in their families, their local churches, the West, and world. Spring 2018: For the 2018 spring semester, IBCS has 80 students taking 805 hours, with 40 living in Singleton Hall and 40 town or distance education students. Accreditation: IBCS is nationally accredited by TRACS (The Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools) which is recognized by the Department of Education and CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation).
4 Ministry Team 2018 Debt Free! Search Me, O God Please pray for the 2018 Ministry Team as they travel this summer and minister to churches in the West. When Singleton Hall was built on the current site, IBCS assumed a debt of approximately $2.5 million. Recently, we received a check to finish paying off the IBCS mortgage. What a thrill to finally be able to cross the finish line and retire the debt! This final gift was the culmination of many, many sacrificial gifts large, small, and in-between, but all given to advance the cause of Christ. We never know the sacrifices of the donors or the impact of those donations. Katelyn Endean Scarborough, Maine Laura Stertzbach Chandler, Arizona What a testimony of God s goodness and the faithfulness of His people to investing in the lives of the next generation of God-fearing leaders. We cannot know the eternal impact made by investing in the lives of men and women who will faithfully serve Christ. We at IBCS wish to thank you, the TBC family, for your part in this endeavor and your commitment to raising up the next generation of servants for Christ. To God be the glory! Great things He has done! David Rendón Tijuana, Mexico Stephen Ramsey Prescott Valley, Arizona Jonathan Rendón Tijuana, Mexico
5 Undergraduate Alumni Spotlight Troy Gardner Troy enjoyed 17 years in retail finance and senior call center management, specializing in banking, securities, and mortgage lending. However, the Lord providentially, through a severe automobile accident, allowed a wheel chair to be the chosen vehicle to lead Troy and his family out of Mormonism. In 2010, under the encouragement of Pastor Mike and others, Holli lovingly chose to work full-time which allowed Troy to begin his journey of preparing for ministry. In May of 2016 Troy graduated from IBCS with a B.A. in Bible and Christian Service with a Pastoral emphasis. For the past two years, Troy has taught an ABF at TBC and will now be stepping in as the Director of Christian Education. The Lord has blessed Holli and Troy with the first granddaughter, Jovie. Andrea Peña Graduate Alumni Spotlight Andrea came to IBCS because of the emphasis on mentoring, serving the local church, and Bible-centered academics. She completed her B.A. in Bible and Teacher Education in 2014 and her Master of Education in While pursuing her degrees, she worked in the IBCS admissions and recruitment office to encourage others to come to IBCS. Andrea currently teaches English at TCA and helps with the publications for TBC. She and her husband, Stephen (2012 IBCS graduate), plan to move to Farmington, New Mexico, this summer where they plan to serve at Grace Baptist Church. Their aim is to further the cause of Mentoring God-Fearing Leaders in the West and the World". The Master of Education program at International Baptist College & Seminary helped me value Christian education. IBCS taught me the importance of holding the Bible as the center of my life, career, and even every subject that I teach. I also learned the importance of valuing every student and helping them reach their God-given potential." -Andrea Peña "There is not a day that goes by that I do not use what I learned at IBCS. I learned how to think Biblically and was given freguent opportunities to put that to use, both in the home and the church. The Lord has used my time at IBCS and the relationships made as one of the most influential seasons of my life." -Troy Gardner
