3 August, Taru Vikram IMBA VII Brexit is the term coined for Britain's referendum to exit the European Union, which wants to end central control by Brussels and give Britain the freedom to manage its own affairs. But its not as simple to de-link from Europe. Britain trade rules are bound by the European law, but post Brexit, Britain can negotiate terms and conditions of trade with different countries. The process is complex and involves a lot of interdependent variables, like which country trades more with Britain, or which one exports more to it or buys its goods etc. Britain has been more of an importer than an exporter. With a big economy and low resources it is dependent on Europe, China and India for its imports. Europe being a free trade area has been providing free access to markets for Britain until now. But in case of a Brexit, Britain needs to look into other markets like India and China and other emerging economies for trade. The Brexit impact is not only limited to Britain, but also European countries. London has always acted as a nancial hub, which gives access to capital markets of the world to Europe. But with Brexit, the European Union will end up having a limited access to capital markets. In all likelihood, access to this market will form a key part of trade negotiations. Sheetal Kaushal It is said that whenever there is darkness in the world, whenever strife and ignorance prevail, the Lord incarnates to bestow his divine light on the darkness. However, the Lord does not simply incarnate, he gives wisdom and departs. His divine light, his divine message and his divine grace continue to shine, on and on, upon all future generations. Lord Krishna was in the darkness of night, born into the locked con nes of a jail cell where his mother and father were being held prisoner. However, at the moment of his birth, all the guards fell asleep, the chains were broken, and the barred doors gently opened. There is a beautiful message here, even from the rst moment of the Lord's life: we may be living in the darkness of midnight; we may be bound and chained by so many attachments, temptations, angers, grudges, pains and by the binding force of maya. We may feel ourselves locked into the prison of our own bodies, the prison of duality. However, as soon as the Lord takes birth in our hearts, all darkness fades, all chains are broken and all prison doors open freely. Wherever the Lord is, there are no bars. They gave their tomorrow for our today. The Literary Club of IMS Unison University conducted an on-the-spot letter writing competition on the subject of "Thank a Soldier" on August 9, 2016 to honor our soldiers and their noble service to the nation. A total of 16 students wrote letters thanking the Armed Forces and expressed gratitude to the men and women of our defense forces and their families who have sacri ced so much to keep us all safe and free. The courage and valor, the duty and responsibility, the undying and heroic spirit of service which a soldier carries in his heart, day and night, to ensure our safety and security far away from his family, is indeed an act of honor and pride. Our soldiers are always at the forefront, guarding and preserving the unity, integrity and security of our motherland standing rm in harsh surviving conditions. Their work and sacri ce, Dear Strangers, From gaining your own independence to making sure your neighbors had theirs; for love & honor I cannot state. I am a stranger to your valor and glory even though I do not belong to the nation you protect. Ever since I could remember the India Army has been a part of my country, Bhutan. It has been a part of constant safety check knowing that the Intrat Project by the India Army were there on our borders and the Dantak project was there to connect even the most remote areas by road. But I feel the strongest point is how connected our military organizations are. I'm just one of the thousand ignorant teenagers but even I know that because of the India Army my small Himalayan country with no human resource or economic power remain a sovereign and proud kingdom. I can talk about how much the Indian Army contributes to the world, to their neighbors, to their own country but I choose to thank them for their contribution to my homeland. The strength and security you offer this small nation has produced gratitude even from an ignorant teenager like myself and I cannot imagine how peaceful my country would have been if there had been no Indian Army backbone for an isolated Himalayan kingdom the size of a grain on the world map. Thank you. Ugyen Choden (BJMC V) Good Bad For India Britain Janamashtami: Arrival of Lord Krishna Dear Armed Forces, This letter is from every Indian, who is grateful to our Armed Forces for their unbelievable bravery and wants to thank each one of them for their sacrifice from the core of my heart. For our tomorrow, you gave your today. I am sure this letter or anything else won't be enough to thank you all, but I couldn't resist myself from writing it. You sacrifice your everything for us to live happily. You leave your family, children, love, friends and all to serve the nation, expecting noting in return. And what can we or our government give you in return? It's your dedication and love for the nation that every ill thinker stays away from us. It hurts sometimes but I try to feel that pride, that pride of sacrifice, that pride of victory. You do the hardest job with pleasure, that's what makes you special. Sleepless nights, extreme weather condition, life always at risk but you stay strong making us stronger. Armed Forces are one of the greatest teacher in our normal life. You teach us many things including sacrificing our comfort for another s, loving the nation, dedication for the job. There are lot more but I can't even write it down. It would go endless. It's because of you that we are able to celebrate our festival happily and we live in peace, otherwise in this brutal world we can't expect anything except bloodbath. I feel emotional because I know your suffering. But, I won't cry and insult your bravery. As I wrote before no words can thank you for what you all did always and still continue doing. So, I need to put my pen to rest with these words- If you can't live like a soilder, die like one. Thank you, JAI HIND Pawan Kumar () India is presently the second biggest source of Foreign Direct Investment for Britain. One of the main reasons for this is the historic and cultural ties with the UK that India shares along with the fact that the UK proved to be a gateway into the rest of Europe. Indian companies that would set up their factories in the UK could sell their products to the rest of Europe under the European free market system. However, if Britain exits the EU, it will not be as attractive a destination for Indian FDI as before. It would not want to lose out on capital coming in from India As mentioned before, if Britain exits the EU, India will lose its gateway to Europe. This might force India to forge ties with another country within the EU, which would be a good result in the long run. India is already trying to build trade negotiations with Netherlands, France, Germany, and others, though in a small way. Netherlands is India's top FDI destination as of now. A Brexit could force India to build trading partnership with other EU nations in order to access the large EU market. Thus, even though Britain stands to suffer from Brexit, but in the long run the net effect can turn out to be positive for India. Also, we can see that the door to the Lord from any direction, inside or outside is always open. The only lock is the lock of our own ignorance, our own illusions. As soon as that ignorance is dispelled, as soon as we see his glowing form, all the doors in this life open to us. The word Janmashtami, where 'Janma' means birth and 'Ashtami' means the 8th day of the lunar calendar, is the 8th day when Lord Krishna was born, that is why it is called Janmashtami. Janmashtami is a religious festival observed by Hindus on the annual occasion of Lord Krishna's birthday, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. Sweeter than sugar, Tastier than curd, Sweeter indeed than honey is the name of Krishna During this Festival the idol of the 'Baal Gopal' or Little Krishna is placed in a cradle as a symbol of his birth. Devotees, rock the cradle joyfully while reciting hymns and singing songs. 90% of the population observes this festival by keeping a fast till midnight. Dahi handi ceremony also takes place during this festival. Harshita Hajela Letter Writing Competition therefore, ought to be remembered, honored and respected by all the citizens of the nation. The competition, thus, successfully infused the young minds with a patriotic feeling love, and respect for our soldiers and their sel ess sacri ce for the nation. Dr. M. P. Jain, Chancellor, IMS Unison University, Dr. R. K. Pandey, Vice Chancellor and Dr. Amit Adlakha, Dean Students Welfare motivated the budding writers to express their thoughts genuinely. The top ve letters were displayed on Independence Day. The winners of the letter writing competition, in order of merit, are as follows: 1. Ugyen Choden (BJMC-V) 2. Pawan Kumar (BJMC-III) 3. Pragyay Kotiyal (IMBA-I) Dear Armed Forces, I want to dedicate my words to your sacrifices, courage and sense of responsibility. You all are the kohinoors of our country. It is not an easy task for someone to dedicate his or her life for the nation, it needs guts like you have, that is not on only in your mind but also in your veins, your genes. Far away any where around the border you spend your life without thinking of your own comfort but giving us that comfort.,d,slk flrkjk rw gs] gekjk lgkjk rw gsa fny dks gekjs dj ns tks [kq'k] oks utkjk rw gsaa But really trust me the respect, pride which you and your family gets, from the nation nobody gets that because nobody has that guts to pay the price for it which you all have. I also want to thank your families for their constant and silent support. I don't want to end but I also don't have enough words which can match your bravery, courage and sacrifice so I am dedicating a small poem of mine to you all with my love. They have the guts to Sacrifice their life and comfort for the nation To Serve their country is their only passion, They have peace in mind but in Battlefield has aggression, and to Salute them is my only mission Thank you. Pragyay Kotiyal (IMBA-I)

4 4 August, 2016 Editorial Drug Problem Among Youth The drug problem in the youth of the country is at an all time increase with some of the cities even developing an image for their drug usage. Dehradun has also been affected by this and the schools and colleges of the city make up for the huge youth population that is struggling with addiction problems. For the middle aged and the old, the only solution to this problem is imposing a ban on all such products. We need strong rules and implementation if we want to stop our children from completely throwing away their lives chasing addictions. Regular inspections and drives by the police and the government can help ght this problem, Harsh Ahuja, a resident of the Neshvilla road, says. Smoking and the kind has really become a nuisance now. People still continue to smoke in public places despite protests and the police does little to stop it, he adds. The youth, however, seems divided on the opinion. Rishabh Raj, a student, says that smoking calms him and as long he does it in private without causing any kind of nuisance, no one should object. Smriti Khera, however, doesn't agree to that. I don't understand why someone would choose to abuse their body when there is so much to do out there in the world. Cutting your life short by smoking or drinking is stupid as limiting yourself to all the fun you can have in life, she says. The police is as much concerned about the drug addiction problem as parents. We have established certain rules that prohibit the sale of tobacco and its products up to a certain distance from any educational institution. However, the shopkeepers don't usually abide by these laws and it is not possible for us to go check on every such institution every day. However, we try to be as frequent as possible, a police of cial said. e;ad iur ch,ts,elh III 1947 Hkkjr ds bfrgkl esa lcls egroiw.kz o"kksaz esa ls,d gsa 14 vxlr 1947 dh jkf= us Hkkjr ds lkjs va/kdkj dks vius Hkhrj lek fy;k vksj fqj 'kq#vkr gqbz,d u;h lqcg dh] Hkkjro"kZ ds mttoy Hkfo"; dha 14 vxlr dh e/;jkf= dks ns'k ds çfke ç/kkuea=h Jh tokgjyky usg: us vius Hkk"k.k esa lafo/kku lhkk dks lacksf/kr djrs gq, dgk fd & ^^vkt jkr ckjg cts] tc lkjh nqfu;k lks jgh gksxh] Hkkjr thou vksj Lora=rk dh u;h lqcg ds lkfk mbsxka Hkkjr vius xqykeh ds bfrgkl dks NksM pqdk gksxk vksj Hkfo"; dh vksj viuk igyk dne j[ksxka** vktknh ds yxhkx lkr n'kd chr pqds gsaa bu lkr n'kdksa esa Hkkjr ns'k us cgqr mrkj p<+ko ns[ks gsaa ftu {ks=ksa esa ;g vu; ns'kksa dh rqyuk esa ihns Fkk] mu {ks=ksa esa Hkkjr us dkqh rjddh dh gsa gj o"kz tufgr esa u;h ;kstuk,a 'kq: dh tk jgh gsaa j{kk] ekuo lalk/ku] lm+d fuekz.k] fo qrhdj.k] f"k vkfn {ks=ksa esa Hkkjr fodkl ds ekxz ij vxzlj gsa ns'k esa jgus okys gj rcds ds fy, fhkuu fhkuu ;kstuk,a rs;kj dh tk jgh gsaa ns'k esa LoPNrk vfhk;ku ij Hkh tksj fn;k tk jgk gsa ns'k dh rduhdh fo'ks"krk,a gj fnu c<+ jgh gsa Hkkjr iwjs fo'o esa viuh,d vuwbh igpku cuk jgk gsa ubz uksdfj;k mriuu dh tk jgh gsa ftlds }kjk csjkstxkjh ij yxke yxk;h tk lds vksj ns'k ds ;qokvksa dks vius isjksa ij [km+k gksus dk,d volj fn;k tk ldsa vusdksa çdkj dh xfrfof/k;ksa us ns'k esa,d u;h meax Hkj nh gsa lkfk gh lkfk ns'k esa dqn?kvuk,a?kvh ftlus iwjs ns'k dks fgykdj dj j[k fn;ka rjddh dh jkg esa pyrs pyrs lh;rk,a] lgu'khyrk vksj mnkjrk dh felkysa ekuks dgha NwV xbza ns'k us f'k{kk ds fy, dne rks c<+k;s ysfdu vkt Hkh iwjs ns'k esa lk{kj tula[;k fodflr ns'kksa dh rqyuk Shreya Sharma BJMC V Children can be seen begging near the railway station, at Astley Hall and various other places in the city. Acting as an extra earning member to the family, these children are in need for support and assistance. N. S. Bhandari, Station Incharge, Dhara Police Station, blames the NGO's for the problem. We have so many big NGO's in the city but they are not working towards this problem. NGO's have become more of a business. If you match their budgets with the number of children they have undertaken to feed and educate, the reality will become clear to you, he says. According to him, these children are not part of some big racket but are into this to simply act as an extra earning member to the family. A child who earns 200 rupees per day will be assisting the household in their expenditures. Hence, some parents encourage their children to beg. If these parents send their children to school, they would have to pay with money they don't have and their child would not be earning anything. The mentality is such that all they see is the money, he adds. When the parents encourage Shikhar Upadhyay BJMC V Dehradun is known for its greenery as has been a destination for holidays throughout the summers in the country. However, urbanisation and the increased need for land for a number of public amenities have rendered the city full of pollution and has downgraded the aesthetic view. This city was known for its natural beauty and was considered to be an escape for people from the congested lanes and the overwhelming crowd that is present in the metropolitans. But the city has lost its charm because of the increasing need for homes and roads and the like. The cutting of trees in this aspect makes me question the intention of the government to safeguard the heritage and the natural essence of the city and the state, Gaurav Jain, a local vktknh ds lkr n'kdksa ckn Hkkjr dk fodkl Child Beggers: A Shame on Society esa cgqr de gsa ns'k esa dbz fo"k;,sls gsa ftudk bu lkr n'kdksa esa dksbz lek/kku ugha fudy ldk gsa Hkz"Vkpkj] LokLFk lel;k,a vksj xjhch mu vusd fo"k;ksa esa ls,d gsa Hkz"Vkpkj bl ns k dh lcls cm+h lel;k cu pqdk gs tks nhed dh rjg Hkkjr dh le`f) dks pkv jgk gsa Hkz"Vkpkj ns'k dks vkffkzd :i ls [kks[kyk dj jgk gsa xjhch vksj LokLF; lel;k,a vkil esa tqmh gqbz gsaa ns'k esa u tkus vkt Hkh,sls fdrus yksx gsa ftugsa,d le; dk Hkkstu] ru <dus ds fy, iwjs ol= vksj flj Nqikus ds fy, Nr Hkh ulhc ughaa xunxh esa jguk mudh etcwjh gs ftlds dkj.k mugsa LokLF; lel;kvksa dk Hkh lkeuk djuk im+rk gsa vly ftunxh esa vk/kh ls vf/kd ijs'kkfu;ksa dk xjhc gh lkeuk djrk gs vksj i;kzir lalk/ku u gksus ds dkj.k mls grk'k] fujk'k vksj cscl gh csbuk im+rk gsa ns'k esa dbz vksj, slh eqlhcrsa gsa ftlls yksx gj fnu :c: gksrs gsaa ns'k tyn gh vktknh ds lkr n'kd iwjs djus okyk gsa fodkl dh xfr esa rsth rks vk;h gs ysfdu lkfk gh lkfk gesa ekuork dk ikb i<+us dh Hkh vko';drk gsa,d nwljs dh fulokfkz Hkko ls lgk;rk djuk] ns'k dks ekuork ds ifk ij vkxs c<+k,xka ns'k ds usrkvksa dks Hkh ns'k dh muufr ds fy, çfr fnu csgrj dne mbkus gksaxsa ns'k dh xfjek dhkh de uk gks] bldk /;ku j[kuk gj Hkkjroklh dk drzo; gsa Hkkjr vusdrkvksa dk ns'k gs vksj vusdrk esa,drk bldh [kkl igpkua ;g ns'k u dsoy,d ;qok ns k gs cfyd izfrhkk leiuu HkhA blesa txr xq# cuus dh fo ks k {kerk gs ij ;g rhkh lahko gs tc ge viuh fofo/krkvksa dks le> dj mudk vknj djsa] mugsa lh[ksa] viuk;sa vksj ns'k ds çfr vius drzo;ksa dk fu BkiwoZd ikyu djsaa A sad reality their children to beg, the police becomes helpless. The most we can do is get them to the police station and feed them while we call up their parents. We can't even keep them here for more than a few hours. Otherwise, human rights activists can barge in and blame us for detaining children like criminals. Also, so many types of criminals come here and they can have a bad effect on the young minds of these children, he says. He further talks about the Childline program. The Childline is not for children who are begging around the city. The Childline works only for unidenti ed and lost children. Most of the kids begging around in the city are local residents and hence cannot be assisted by the Childline, he reveals. We ran Operation Smile through which we located a number of lost children and helped them get back to their families. Operation Smile closed many les, he says. To solve this problem, N. S. Bhandari says, the government needs to step in and conduct regular drives and also monitor the NGO's closely and ensure they do their work. resident, says. The youth is even more concerned with the cutting of trees and is not agreement with the action. This is what they always tell us. Wider roads, parking facilities and what not, promises that are met at the cost of nature, Shivangi Rautela, a student, says. Anup Singh, another student, says that the government needs to nd an alternative way to help the public with its problems without affecting nature. Hotel owners and people who have their livelihood dependent on the tourism have their own woes. Mindless decisions on the part of the government have led to the city look like just any other city. Loss of the natural beauty and increasing urbanisation has also led to a drop in the number of tourist coming into the city. This affects us, Anil Sharma, a hotel owner, says. 5 August, Smriti Gupta MBA I Only a small percentage of Indian students make it to the prestigious IIMs every year, but little do we know that graduating from it requires a whole set of skills that one cannot do without (and you thought only making it to an IIM was a conquest!). Here are a few things that every management student and IIM-ians in particular will relate to: 1. Time value: Made to work in circumstances where even a day falls short, these brats who just like us would laze on a free day now know the meaning of 24 hours. Catch any IIM-ian and he would tell you how much can be done in a day. 2. Pressure management: Bacche ki jaan loge kya!? That's exactly what one wonders in their initial days at IIM. They probably handle more work pressure than the Prime Minister of the country, sitting perpetually in seemingly never ending classes and working on assignments that have to be submitted. Well, only an IIM-ian can truly reveal how to live through such pressure. 3. Group dynamics: Hum Saath Saath Hain, one thing that any b- school and IIM in particular teaches is how to take every one along with oneself, sharing responsibilities and accolades together. 4. Shift work sleep disorder: Ek katre neend ki keemat tum kya jano duniya walo...mushkil se naseeb hoti hai..ek katre ki neend...sirf Sunday ko hi milti hai... ek katre ki neend... swinging between bouts of insomnia every IIM-ain is thankful for even the forty winks spared to him. Tulika Mamgain Life A n t Excelling in academics, writing, dancing Nungshi and Tashi Malik have done it all. But their biggest achievement so far is conquering some of the highest peaks in the world. The duo has found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the world's rst twin sisters to step together on the seven summits of the world. Many Congratulations for your great feat. How does it feel after having scaled all the highest peaks in the world? Nungshi: The two of us felt like we were on cloud nine. It was de nitely a great experience and I always tell people that at the end of every wilderness trip one feels a sense of exhilaration and for us this was the best journey. What made it even more special was the fact that we had dedicated the entire journey to the cause of saving the Indian girl child. Which peak was the toughest to scale? Nungshi: I would say Mount Everest is the toughest because it was for the rst time we were trying to scale over 8000 metres. There is a dearth of oxygen as we go higher and there is a fear of avalanches, strong winds and low temperatures. As a matter of fact, it was on Mount Everest that my oxygen regulator malfunctioned and I was only able to manage because of my sister. Tashi: Technically the toughest was a peak in Alaska, Denali. It had tougher elevations at frequent intervals. IIM Interview Touching the Pinnacle 5. Perpetual learning: To work really hard and burn the midnight oil to reach this place and then leave all your amazed knowledge at the classroom doorstep to be trained by some of the best professionals in the country, is quite a humbling experience. 6. Sabse bada rupaiya: You thought IIM is an institution and everyone comes here to gain knowledge. Well, that is what appears on the surface but deep down, each person out there is lured by the enormous salary package, which of course doesn't come easy. 7. The sixth sense!: The only thing one needs to do to awaken one's sixth sense in IIM is sit religiously through all classes, the magical effect is such that your awareness grows to a level where you may sleep through the entire class and still have a relevant question in mind when the professor picks you up! 8. Networking: Leaving IIM one isn't only armed with knowledge and a degree, but also with enormous people skills and the social network that one builds here supports him/her for his/her lifetime. 9. Start up: Almost every student at IIM will have some sort of a start up idea in mind. A third of them would already have idea executed! 10. Transformation: Being trained at an IIM is in itself a metamorphic process. Just like a larva transforms into a butter y, the skills developed here transform a person and they leave IIM with a new and con dent version of themselves. What is your next target? Tashi: In terms of adventure, we plan to do a Girls for Ice Cap Challenge wherein we plan to scale peaks in Greenland, Patagonia. It will be about 5000 Km, including the North Pole and the South Pole. We also have a social project, called The Tashi Nungshi Foundation, which will work towards empowering women in India. Why did you choose mountaineering as a profession? Nungshi: Tashi and I had never envisioned a life in the classroom, even though we had scored a very high percentile in class 12th. We wanted to do something different. Infact there was a time when we had learnt six different dance forms of India. We were trend setters, and wanted to do things that nobody else would. When they said mountaineering wasn't meant for us, we knew that this just had to be our calling. We did all the required courses from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi. Would you like to convey any massage to the girls? Nungshi: I would like to tell every girl to celebrate her existence and never underestimate her own power, never underscore who you are as an individual. I would like to tell everyone to dream big and never ever give up. j{kk ca/ku iou dqekj ch,ts,elh II ftl ns'k esa gksyh] fnokyh] bzn] cslk[kh tsls vusd R;kSgkj g"kkszyykl ls euk;s tkrs gsa] og gs viuk vuqie ns k HkkjrA,slk ekuk tkrk gs fd gekjs ns'k esa gj fnu dksbz u dksbz R;kSgkj gksrk gsa R;ksgkjksa dh bl lwph esa j{kkca/ku dk viuk,d vyx egro gsa ;g ikou ioz HkkbZ&cgu ds Lusg] J)k] vksj leiz.k dk çrhd gsa j{kkca/ku] ftls jk[kh Hkh dgk tkrk gs] lkou dh iwf.kzek dks euk;k tkrk gsa cgusa bl fnu HkkbZ dh dykbz ij jk[kh ck /k dj mldh lqj{kk dh dkeuk djrh gsa vksj HkkbZ viuh cguksa dh lqj{kk dk ç.k ysrs gsaa j{kkca/ku gekjs ns'k esa lfn;ksa ls euk;k tk jgk gsa bl ioz dks ekukus ds ihns dbz iksjkf.kd rf; tqm+s gsaa ysfdu dqn yksxksa dk ekuuk gs fd HkkbZ vksj cgu ds bl fj'rs dks trkus ds fy, dksbz R;kSgkj ;k fdlh js'ke ds /kkxs dh t:jr ugha gsa esa mudh lksp dh dæ djrs gq, ;g dguk pkgrk gw fd ckr dsoy trkus dh ugha gsa ckr gs ladyi dh] meehn dh] Hkjksls dh] vksj ckr gs bl ifo= fj'rs dks lq <+ djus dha vxj ge iqjk.kksa esa >k dsa rks bl R;kSgkj dk o.kzu dbz ckj vk;k gsa tsls nsoh y{eh dk vlqjksa ds jktk cyh dks jk[kh ck /k dj Hkxoku~ fo".kq dks eqä djokuk ;k fqj æksinh dk Hkxoku~ ".k dh dvh Å xyh ij viuh lkm+h dk fdukjk QkM+ dj cka/kuk ftldk _.k Hkxoku~ us phj gj.k ds le; æksinh dh ykt cpk dj pqdk;ka ;s mnkgj.k gsa fd fdl çdkj bl fj'rs dh ifo=rk dks dk;e j[krs gq, Lo;a nsoh&nsorkvksa us Hkh vius drzo;ksa dk ikyu fd;ka bfrgkl ds iuuksa dks iyvus ij,d ftø eqxy 'kklu ds nksjku dk vkrk gs ftl le; fpùkksm+ dh egkjkuh d.kkzorh us vius jkt; dh j{kk ds fy, eqxy lezkv gqek;w dks jk[kh fhktokbz FkhA gqek;w us Hkh jk[kh dh ykt j[krs gq, viuh lsuk dks okfil cqyok fy;k FkkA bugh ijeijkvksa dks dk;e j[krs gq, gj o"kz lkou ds ikou ekg dh iwf.kzek dks HkkbZ cgu ds fu'ny Lusg dk çrhd ;g R;kSgkj iwjs mrlkg ds lkfk leiw.kz Hkkjr o"kz esa euk;k tkrk gsa esjs Hkkjr ds cqf)thfo;ksa ls ;gh vkxzg gs fd bl ifo= R;kSgkj dh egrrk dks /kwfey u gksus nsa vksj lnso bl ijaijk dh ykt j[krs gq, bl lfn;ksa iqjkus R;kSgkj dks lnso, sls gh vkxs c<+krs pysaa

6 6 August, 2016 Harshita Hajela BJMC III It's not the years in your life that count; it's the life in your years that do. A beautiful quote. Isn't it? Ever wondered what exactly does 'life' mean? We often hear people complaining about not having a good life. Ever tried thinking about what the 'good life' is like? I'm sure everyone will have a unique de nition to that. Some might believe that a good life is having/earning a lot of money while some may believe in the thought of living a good life with their loved ones. Well, the grass always appears to be greener on the other side. The ones, who don't have money, want the rst and the ones who don't have lovers, wish to have the second. In simple language, are we trying to imply that having a good life is all about having what you don't have? Does that sound right? Or it should've been like; can we lead a good life if we are happy with what we have? What other opinions do we have? Something different. Something that's lacking in all these true but not completely true sentences. Now let's just try a bit harder to introspect that. What do we people live for? For the ones we love? For our family? Teachers? For ourselves? For our dreams? Yes! That sounds a bit convincing. The basic motive of our life is to go after what we want. So basically we live to ful ll our wants or dreams. We might have a dream of owning a car. What if we get that, then? We start building a new dream. Are we able to work as hard as we did for the previous one? Jaya Dwivedi BAJMC II L i f e INFANT People aspire for a lot of distinct things. People of our age want to crack CAT, GMAT or the entrance exams of a good college. That is their dream. Once they achieve that they dream of getting a job. Then they may have a dream of owning a luxurious mansion. Now owning a 'luxurious mansion' sounds like a dream. Doesn't it? Does getting a job sound like a dream? I've heard people saying,"bas ek baar job lag jaaye r to mauj hi mauj hai". Is having a lot of 'mauj' our dream? Well, humans have innumerable desires and thus, dreams are varied and dynamic. If we have a dream, we have a goal. That goal becomes our reason for living. A person, who has a bigger goal, leads a struggling life than the ones having smaller goals. In simple words, a good life is what we lead when we have a goal, and while we're working for it, life becomes worth living. On the contrary, what if we don't have any goals? Or we have it but are not able to work for it? Or we've already lost a 100% chance of achieving it. What then? Are we as good as nothing? We are in a condition where we don't want anything except re; in return what we get is just water. Salt water. Water that we can't even drink. We are lifeless when we don't have any motivation, when we don't have dreams, when we are full of agony. So don't worry if you are lifeless! You still have a chance. You may need someone by your side to recover. Or maybe you are strong enough to do it alone! A fresh arrival, the beginning of a new life. A new generation with a new heritage and genes has just entered a beautiful land. The place is surrounded by greenery all around. It is a small herb which took birth to nd it's soul mate. With soft stems and fresh leaves, it is a herb which would never become a strong tree. Soon it will have owers and fruits at a young age. Is it weak? as it is a newly born infant or will it never be a large tree? No, it is powerful, after all it has emanated from the lineage of a huge rock. It might be small and may have a short span of life, but it has started a struggle and a ght with the beginning of its arrival, after all, it is matter and has mass. It has equal importance as a huge tree, as it is placed at the top of a rock and facing the harsh wind every day and every hour. Its aim is straight forward and wants to collaborate soon after nding a soul mate. This is not only it's own will but this is the law of nature, "Every soul is born to nd a soul mate." Hence the aim of this newly born was to ful ll nature's demand. Soon it would be compelled with another infant who has taken birth and later they both will come together to be the reason of the birth of another new life, 'A New Infant'. THE STREAM BAJMC II A sheltered stream in a marshy land, Vents of light alluring the eye. Reeds and shrubs along the bank, A lot but they never soar too high. Concealed away from the human eye, Snakes and lizards take care of that. Meandering with a varying current, But always within the extreme it lies. A heavy rock breaks its course, As it bifurcates into a weaker ow. It merges again but the vigor is lost, But still somehow the rock stands strong. It withers nally into a seamless creek, As if hushed at the plight of its last glory. The contrast between the young and old, The erratic and the tranquil come to view. Reminiscing on the brink of close, A sheltered stream in a marshy land. tuur rks Fkk eur kk fj;kt chts, elh III fpukj gs ;gka] lctkj gs ;gkaa dslj dh egd] lknxh dh peda esjs?kj dks ;s D;k gks x;k] tuur D;ksa, sls tguuqe gks x;ka nqygu tslk ltk;k Fkk bldks] fqj yky jax esa ugyk;k D;ksa bldksa jks kuh tgka dh Fkh igpku] ogka D;ksa vu/kk gqvk balkua fiatjk lksus dk gks ;k irfkj dk] mlesa jgus okyk dsnh gh gksrk gsa vc ;s vksj lgk ugha tkrk] esjk?kj csdkj gs] ns[kk ugha tkrka gj pht tydj [kkd gks jgh gs] esjs tuur ls ckgj dksbz ugha gsaa gj Fkkus esa gks efgyk njksxk% eerk oksgjk r`fir flag chts, elh V ifjp; uke% eerk oksgjk orzeku in% nsgjknwu esa,-,lih ¼ykW,.M vkwmzj½,oa lgk;d&mhthih csp% 2005 ihlh,l] çf'k{k.k% iatkc iqfyl vdsmeh iwoz esa rsukrh% usuhrky] m/keflag uxj lesr dbz {ks=ksa esa lhvks,oa gfj}kj esa,-,liha Hkkjrh; lekt 'kq: ls gh iq#"k ç/kku jgk gsa ifjokj vksj lekt ds fy, efgyk,a,d vkfjr ls T;knk dqn ugha le>h tkrh FkhaA eku;rk gs fd mls gj dne ij iq#"k ds lgkjs dh t:jr ims+xha ;g le; gs lksp esa ifjorzu ykus dka vkt dh efgykvksa dk dke dsoy?kj&x`glfkh lahkkyus rd gh lhfer ugha gs] os viuh miflfkfr gj {ks= esa ntz djk jgh gsaa bldk thrk&tkxrk mnkgj.k gs gfj}kj mùkjk[k.m dh,l- ih- eerk oksgjk ftugksaus lekt dh lkjh xyr /kkj.kkvksa dks eqag&rksm+ tokc fn;k gsa,l- ih- eerk oksgjk us crk;k fd lppkbz vksj fu"bk efgykvksa dh igpku gsa mudk dguk gs fd eqf'dyksa dk lkeuk djus dh fgeer mugsa onhz ls feyrh gsa vkius iqfyl dh uksdjh gh D;ksa pquh\ ;g çsj.kk vkidks fdlls feyh\ iqfyl dh uksdjh pquuk dhkh Hkh esjs [k;ky esa ugha jgka ifjokj dk iwjk lg;ksx jgk] gkykafd dksbz iqfyl fohkkx esa ugha gsa cl ;s Fkk dh ijh{kk nsuh gs vksj mlesa lqy gksuk gsa esfjv ds vk/kkj ij gekjk p;u gqvka tc bl {ks= esa vk, rks ns[kk dh blesa dkqh lfø;rk,oa xfr khyrk gsa ge yksxksa dh enn tynh vksj vklkuh ls dj ldrs gsaa,d efgyk ds rksj ij 'kq:vkr esa fdl rjg dh ijs'kkfu;ksa dk vkius lkeuk fd;k\ O;fäxr:i ls n[s kk tk, rks fmikvez Vas us dhkh egllw gh ugha gkus s fn;k fd ea S,d yms h vkfw Qlj gaaww tks dke,d eys vkfw Qlj dj jgk gs oks ge Hkh dj jgs gaas gea s dhkh ihns ugha fd;k x;ka geus Hkh efq dy ekeys lyq >k,a ga S vkjs viuk droz ; c[kcw h fuhkk;k gas fdlh us Hkh gekjh dkfcfy;r ij 'kd ugha fd;ka lkfk gh bl onhz dks igudj efgykvka s dk vkrefo'okl c<r+ k gs rfkk mudk O;fäRo etcrw gkrs k gas ea S dkfs 'k'k djrh gw a fd dfbu ekeyka s dk onhz ea s gh lkeuk d:]a blls e>q s fgeer feyrh gas vius vuqhko ds vk/kkj ij crkb, fd bl {ks= esa efgykvksa dh orzeku flfkfr D;k gs\ lppkbz vksj fu"bk osls rks iq#"kksa esa Hkh gs ysfdu ym+fd;ka [kklrksj ij blds fy, tkuh tkrh gsaa esjs eqrkfcd vxj,d ym+dh ds fy, dksbz lqjf{kr dsfj;j gs rks oks iqfyl dh uksdjh gsa gkykafd {ks= esa efgyk,a vhkh de gsaa iqfyl LVs'ku esa efgyk, lvkbz fuk;qä djus dk dke vhkh tkjh gsa,slh D;k ckrsa gsa tks efgykvksa dks bl {ks= esa vkus ls igys /;ku esa j[kuh pkfg,\ bl {ks= esa gh ugha] dksbz Hkh dke djus ls igys mugsa vius y{; dk irk gksuk pkfg,a viuh çfkfedrk vksj usfrd ewy;ksa ds lkfk gh mugsa ml okrkoj.k ds vuqdwy gksuk im+rk gsa efgykvksa dh fteesnkfj;ka T;knk gksrh gsa mugsa?kjsyw vksj ckgjh nksuksa fteesnkfj;ksa ds chp larqyu cukuk vkuk pkfg, D;ksafd iqfyl dh uksdjh pquksrhiw.kz gs] ;g leiz.k ekaxrh gsa gesa vyx&vyx yksxksa ls feyuk im+rk gs] ftlds fy, gesa fouez rfkk lgu'khy jgus dh t#jr gsa vius dk;zdky ds nksjku ldkjkred vksj udkjkred rksj ij vkius D;k cnyko ns[ks vksj ;g fdl rjg ls efgykvksa ds flfkfr dks çhkkfor dj jgk gs\ igys ds edq kcys vkt gj Lrj ij efgyk vkfw Qlj fn[k jgh g]as pkgs oks dkulvcs y ds :i ea s gks, lvkbz ds :i ea s ;k fqj bla ids VjA efgyk vkfw Qljka s dh rknkn c<u+ s ls ckdh efgykvka s dks çjs.kk feyrh gs vkjs os lkps rh ga S fd vxj ge dj ldrs ga S rks oks D;ka s ughaa vkidks bl fmikvzesav ls D;k meehnsa gsa\ tc dksbz ihfm+r efgyk iqfyl LVs'ku tkrh gs rks tcrd dksbz efgyk vkwfqlj u fn[ks mugsa viuh ckr dgus esa vlqfo/kk gksrh gsa esa ;g pkgrh gwa fd gj iqfyl LVs'ku esa,d efgyk, lvkbz t:j gksuh pkfg,a efgykvksa ds fy, dqn dguk pkgsaxh\ ;gh dguk pkgawxh fd ;g cgqr MSusfed vksj eksfvos'kuy {ks= gsa ;gka vki Lora=rk ls viuh fteesnkjh fuhkk ldrh gsaa ;gka jkst yksxksa fd eqf'dyksa vksj mudh lel;kvksa dks nwj djus dk eksdk feysxka ftruk vkxs c<+rs tk,axs vkidks yksxksa dh nqvk,a feyrh tk,axha ;g,d rjg dh lekt lsok gsa

7 August, Smriti Gupta MBA I CULTURAL PROGRAM AT IMS UNISON UNIVERSITY A musical event was organised by IMS Unison University in association with SPICMACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) on July 25, A famous vocalist and musician Sikkil C. Gurucharan, widely known as the youth ambassador for Carnatic music, performed at the University. He was accompanied by Shri Balaji, a top RBI of cial on the mridangam and Shri V. Sanjeev, a software engineer on the violin. The program commenced with lighting of the lamp and the introduction of the artists who were warmly welcomed by the Chancellor Dr. M. P. Jain, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pandey. The dignitaries presented them bouquets along with a token of love and appreciation on behalf of the IUU family. Mr. Sikkil C. Gurucharan held an interactive session with the students, enlightening everybody present, how music is no less than management, a management of notes and swaras and a unison of cadence. The concert began with the recital of the Varanam, meaning colour in the literal sense. The Varanam, as Shri Sikkil C. Gurucharan puts it, is the very essence of Carnatic music. Next was the recital of the raga Thodi, second of the total 72 ragas in Carnatic music. The third recital was a love song, Akath kahani prem ki and it resonated the musical integration of deep emotions. Next was the recital of the song Kabali, inspired by the skull carrying god of Indian mythology. The musical evening ended with the bhajan of Meera Bai, Hari tum Haro. The audiences were mesmerized and it was indeed a soul stirring performance by the famous Indian Classical Music artists. Just Unison Th ngs You can take us, out of the Gym, but you can t take the Gym out of us. Divided By Titles, United By Bullets We believe in sharing our playlist We wear crowns on our faces
