Coming in September! renew (a conference for KNCSB women) to be held in Salina, KS at Webster Conference Center, September Women from Liberal have been attending this conference, formerly called Wonderful Weekend for Women, for many years. It has always been a wonderful and inspiring experience to be part of a group of 500 women of all ages singing, worshipping, and learning together, not to mention eating, laughing, and praying together! Ladies from FSBC usually travel on Thursday afternoon, in order to be at the Friday morning start of the conference. Besides music, worship, and a speaker, there will be workshops from which to choose and a Lifeway bookstore. For more information, pick up a brochure at the Welcome Center, or speak to a Ladies' Legacy team member. Plan to attend! Register before August 27. (10-11:30 a.m. at the east entrance of the southeast corner of the church. Any non-perishable items are acceptable, but here are a few food items that we will need before the next food cupboard: Food Cupboard Needs: Cereal (cold) Rice (1 lb. bags) Canned vegetables Canned fruit Please bring these food items to the church office. Any assistance with the purchase of any of these items or monetary donations would be greatly appreciated! Just mark your check Food Cupboard. If you would like to help on one of our food cupboard days, please go by the welcome desk in the lobby and sign up on the sheet. Cheryl Dreitz National Night Out Event This outreach event will be on Tuesday, August 1 st from 5:15 8:30 PM at Blue Bonnet Park. We will be providing sno cones, bottled water, train rides and inflatables for people to enjoy. We will be needing people to watch the inflatables, make sno cones, hand out water & help with train rides. Would you like to help out? Call the church office at

2 Volume, Issue Page 2 Worship Ministry Did you know that several of our Sunday classes have been studying the book of Psalms this summer? During the month of August we are going to be singing a new song based on Psalm 95. The Sunday classes will be studying this psalm one week this month as well. I think that it can be easy to forget that the Psalms were written as songs and they were sung by God s people. These psalms are songs that Jesus would have sung growing up in the Jewish faith. If God saw fit to inspire the writing of psalms and give us examples of how He is worthy of praise, then maybe we ought to consider the Psalms closely as we write, learn, and sing songs today. God s Word tells us to sing new songs to the Lord, but it also tells us to use psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. So, while we sing this new piece of music called Come, Let Us Sing during the month of August we will be singing a truth that is established and true while using music that is new. I pray that this song will encourage you and challenge you to worship with your voice in song because we are fearfully and wonderfully made to worship the King of kings! Promotion Sunday Aloha (Good-bye and Hello) As August approaches, I get sentimental about the kids who will be leaving us to join the Youth group. I will miss seeing these kids in class on Sunday morning Jackson Dodge, Brooks Kappelmann, Bret Lyon, Katie Norman, and Halle Sewell. However, Todd and his team will be with kids who love Christ and are ready to grow deeper in their knowledge of Him. I want to say thank you to the parents who entrusted their children to me and our teachers to teach them about the gospel of Christ. Cheryl Dreitz and Jim Dodge, Dan and Charlene Plett, and Lora Lou Hershey have done a great job teaching our children all that a life honoring to Christ has to offer. While we are saying good bye to our fifth graders, we are welcoming a new group of first graders. I hope that all children in our church entering grades 1 st to 5 th will join us for Sunday School at 9:30 am. Each week we take a lesson from God s Word and explore what it meant back then and how it applies to our life today. Keep an eye out for information of upcoming events, such as the Christmas program and AWANA later in the month. So as summer comes to an end, please consider what gifts you have that can be shared in our children s ministry.
