Order of Worship December 30, 2018 GOD CALLS US TO WORSHIP from Psalm 19:1-4; Psalm 95:1-3 LEADER: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. PEOPLE: Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. LEADER: They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. PEOPLE: Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. LEADER: Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. PEOPLE: Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. ALL: (with a loud voice) For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. Almighty, infinite Father Faitully loving Your own Here in our weakness You find us Bowing before Your throne Oh, we re bowing before Your throne (chorus) GOD REVEALS HIS WILL FOR OUR LIVES from Romans 8:18-25 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. WE CONFESS OUR SINS TO GOD GOD ASSURES US OF OUR FORGIVENESS from Romans 8:31-39 LEADER: What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? PEOPLE: He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? LEADER: Who shall bring any charge against God s elect? PEOPLE: It is God who justifies. 4

4 LEADER: Who is to condemn? PEOPLE: Christ Jesus is the one who died more than that, who was raised who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. LEADER: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? PEOPLE: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. LEADER: For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (chorus) Within Community Community Groups are the main ministry of Redeemer outside of Sunday morning worship. Connect with a community group during the week for great fellowship and Bible study. However, community groups at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, are much more than just Bible studies. These groups are like house churches where we want to live in community with each other like Luke writes about in Acts 2:42-47 because we re a family on mission together. Community groups are where we can learn together as disciples, take care of one another as neighbors, and reach out to our communities in love. 5 Where in the World WE LEARN GOD S TRUTH Catechism Question 43 What are the sacraments or ordinances? Adults Answer 43 The sacraments or ordinances given by God and instituted by Christ, namely baptism and the Lord s Supper, are visible signs and seals that we are bound together as a community of faith by his death and resurrection. By our use of them the Holy Spirit more fully declares and seals the promises of the gospel to us.
