Order of Worship October 5, 2014 CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm 92:1-5 A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day. LEADER: It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, PEOPLE: To proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the tenstringed lyre and the melody of the harp. LEADER: For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. PEOPLE: How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts! For all nursery-related questions, find our on-duty Church Mouse next door. A nursery is provided on the first floor of the Education building for children up to 3 years. Pick up a kids activity box (ages 3-7) on your way into the service. Afterwards return the items to the basket. Just before the intercessory prayer, feel free to dismiss your children (3K-Kindergarten) for Children s Church where they ll sing songs, receive age-appropriate, Gospel-centered teaching, and make crafts. Pick up your child on the second floor next door. Welcome Home If you d like more information about church membership, attend one of our inquirers classes. Pray for guidance for their outreach goals and that the Lord would change the hearts of those to whom they minister. Pray for Thomas Szymanski, their facilitator. PRAYER OF CONFESSION WORDS OF ASSURANCE from 1 Peter 1:17-21 Since you call on a Father who judges each man s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. 4

4 IN CHRIST ALONE In Christ alone, my hope is found. He is my light, my strength, my song. This Cornerstone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, when strivings cease. My Comforter, my All in all, Here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone who took on flesh, Fullness of God in helpless babe. This gift of love and righteousness, Scorned by the ones He came to save. Til on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied. For ev ry sin on Him was laid, Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay, Light of the world by darkness slain. Then bursting forth in glorious day, Up from the grave He rose again. And as He stands in victory, Sin s curse has lost its grip on me. For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ. INTERCESSORY PRAYER See right sidebar for information about this week s missionary and left sidebar for information about this week s highlighted community group. 5 Where in the World Our missionary Sherry Bohn works with Entrust, an organization that assists churches in responding to the global cry for servantleaders through accessible, transformational, Biblical training. We at Redeemer use the Entrust method to train our teachers. Sherry has helped write and revise curriculum for women that includes facilitator training, child rearing, and methods for Bible study and women s ministering to women. She teaches these and other courses to women throughout the world. She s working on teaching curriculum tailored for training children, also. Praise that women across Eastern Europe have gained a deeper knowledge of the Word and can confidently speak from it and teach its truths; they attribute this ability to Entrust training. Pray that God grants them wisdom and Biblical discernment as they seek to make this training available in many cultural contexts, as Entrust will be revising its facilitator training soon. 6 HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word! 7 MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES FIND YOUR COMMUNITY GROUP: Community groups at Redeemer are much more than just Bible studies. These groups are like house churches where we want to live in community with each other like Paul writes about in Acts 2: Community groups are where we can learn together as disciples, take care of one another as neighbors, and reach out to our communities in love.
