CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, who calls us into an everlasting hope, who guides us to springs of the water of life, who enlightens us with the spirit of wisdom. Amen. One with the communion of saints in all times and places, let us confess our sin against God and one another.

O God, our merciful redeemer, we confess the ways we live only for ourselves. We fail to see you in our neighbor s face. We turn our ears from voices that cry out. We pass by the hungry and the oppressed. In your great mercy, forgive our sin and strengthen us for service to all in need; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for you, and for his sake, God forgives you all your sin. Blessed are you! Rejoice and be glad, beloved people of God. Amen.

PEACE The peace of Christ be with you always. And also with you.

GATHERING SONG For All the Saints (Red Hymnal # 422) 1 For all the saints who from their labors rest, who thee by faith before the world confessed, thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia! Alleluia!

2 Thou wast their rock, their fortress, and their might; thou, Lord, their captain in the well-fought fight; thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light. Alleluia! Alleluia! 3 Oh, blest communion, fellowship divine, we feebly struggle, they in glory shine; yet all are one in thee, for all are thine. Alleluia! Alleluia!

4 And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long, steals on the ear the distant triumph song, and hearts are brave again and arms are strong. Alleluia! Alleluia! 5 The golden evening brightens in the west; soon, soon to faithful servants cometh rest; sweet is the calm of paradise the blest. Alleluia! Alleluia!

6 But then there breaks a yet more glorious day: the saints triumphant rise in bright array; the King of glory passes on his way. Alleluia! Alleluia! 7 From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast, through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: Alleluia! Alleluia!

GREETING The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you.

KYRIE (Red Hymnal p. 147) In peace, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy. For the peace from above, and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy. For the peace of the whole world, for the wellbeing of the Church of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy.

For this holy house, and for all who offer here their worship and praise, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy. Help, save, comfort, and defend us, gracious Lord. Amen.

CANTICLE OF PRAISE (Red Hymnal p. 148) This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia. Worthy is Christ, the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us free to be people of God. Power and riches and wisdom and strength, and honor and blessing and glory are his. This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia.

Sing with all the people of God and join in the hymn of all creation: Blessing and honor and glory and might be to God and the Lamb forever. Amen. This is the feast of victory for our God, for the Lamb who was slain has begun his reign. Alleluia. Alleluia.

PRAYER OF THE DAY Let us pray. Almighty God, you have knit your people together in one communion in the mystical body of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Grant us grace to follow your blessed saints in lives of faith and commitment, and to know the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who love you, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

FIRST READING: Isaiah 25:6-9 A reading from Isaiah. 6 On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear. 7 And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations;

8 he will swallow up death forever. Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. 9 It will be said on that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

PSALM: Psalm 24 1 The earth is the LORD s and all that is in it, the world and those who dwell therein. 2 For the LORD has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. 3 Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD, and who may stand in God s holy place? 4 Those of innocent hands and purity of heart, who do not swear on God s being, nor do they pledge by what is false.

5 They shall receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of their salvation. 6 Such is the generation of those who seek you, O LORD, of those who seek your face, O God of Jacob. 7 Lift up your heads, O gates; and be lifted up, O everlasting doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle!

9 Lift up your heads, O gates; and be lifted up, O everlasting doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? Truly, the LORD of hosts is the King of glory.

SECOND READING: Revelation 21:1-6a A reading from Revelation. 1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, See, the home of God is among mortals. He will dwell with them;

they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them; 4 he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away. 5 And the one who was seated on the throne said, See, I am making all things new. Also he said, Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true. 6a Then he said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (NORTH NEW HOPE) (Red Hymnal p. 151) Alleluia. Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Alleluia. (FAITH): Celtic Alleluia (Red Hymnal # 174) Alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia, alleluia.

GOSPEL: John 11:32-44 The holy gospel according to John. Glory to you, O Lord. 32 When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved.

34 He said, Where have you laid him? They said to him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus began to weep. 36 So the Jews said, See how he loved him! 37 But some of them said, Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying? 38 Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. 39 Jesus said, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him,

Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days. 40 Jesus said to her, Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God? 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, Father, I thank you for having heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me. 43 When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come out!

44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, Unbind him, and let him go. The gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, O Christ.

HYMN OF THE DAY In Heaven Above (Red Hymnal # 630) 1 In heav'n above, in heav'n above, where God our Father dwells: how boundless there the blessedness! No tongue its greatness tells. There face to face, and full and free, the ever-living God we see, our God, the Lord of hosts!

2 In heav'n above, in heav'n above, what glory deep and bright! The splendor of the noonday sun grows pale before its light. The mighty sun that goes not down, before whose face clouds never frown, is God, the Lord of hosts!

3 In heav'n above, in heav'n above, no tears of pain are shed, for nothing there can fade or die; life's fullness round is spread, and like an ocean, joy o'erflows, and with immortal mercy glows our God, the Lord of hosts!

4 In heav'n above, in heav'n above, God has a joy prepared, which mortal ear has never heard, nor mortal vision shared, which never entered mortal thought, in mortal dreams was never sought, O God, the Lord of hosts!

CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION With the people of God gathered here and throughout the world, we offer our prayers for the church, the world, and all people in need......lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Enfold all things in your compassion, O God, and bring us into your life through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

OFFERING OFFERTORY RESPONSE Let the Vineyards Be Fruitful (Nelson) (Red Hymnal # 184) Let the vineyards be fruitful, Lord, and fill to the brim our cup of blessing. Gather a harvest from the seeds that were sown, that we may be fed with the bread of life. Gather the hopes and dreams of all; unite them with the prayers we offer. Grace our table with your presence, and give us a foretaste of the feast to come.

OFFERING PRAYER Merciful God, you open wide your hand and satisfy the need of every living thing. You have set this feast before us. Open our hands to receive it. Open our hearts to embrace it. Open our lives to live it. We pray this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

DIALOGUE (Red Hymnal p. 152) The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

PREFACE It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks and praise to you, almighty and merciful God, through our Savior Jesus Christ. By the witness of your saints you show us the hope of our calling, and strengthen us to run the race set before us, that we may delight in your mercy and rejoice with them in glory. And so, with Gothard Krumins, Tom Haroldson, Carl Sather, Doris Loken, Lindy Larson, Donna Amundson, Robert & Clarice Christensen and all the saints, with the choirs of angels and all the hosts of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, HOLY, HOLY, HOLY (Red Hymnal p. 153) Lord God of pow r and might: Heav n and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

THANKSGIVING AT THE TABLE Holy God, our Maker, Redeemer, and Healer, in the harmonious world of your creation, the plants and animals, the seas and stars were whole and well in your praise. When sin had scarred the world, you sent your Son to heal our ills and to form us again into one. Remembering, therefore, his acts of healing, his body given up, and his victory over death, we await that day when all the peoples of the earth will come to the river to enjoy the tree of life.

Send your Spirit upon us and this meal: as grains scattered on the hillside become one bread, so let your Church be gathered from the ends of the earth, that all may be fed with the Bread of life, your Son. Through him all glory and honor is yours, Almighty Father, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy Church, both now and forever. Amen With all the saints of Africa and Asia, India and the islands, Europe and the Americas, we praise you, O God, for you create the worlds.

With all the baptized, the old and the young, the weak and the strong, the famous and the forgotten, we bless you, O God, for you provide us with water and food. With all the faithful in cities and on farms, in mansions and huts, past and present, we worship you, O God, for you shelter the generations. With all your holy people, those who ministered in the church, those who served the poor, and all who walked the way of the cross, we glorify you, O God, for in Jesus you journeyed with us on earth. With Paul and the evangelists, we remember the meal of your Son:

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

With Peter and all the martyrs, we honor Christ s death, saying Amen. Amen! With Mary Magdalene and all the apostles, we proclaim his resurrection, shouting Amen. Amen! With John and all the theologians and mystics, we look for his returning, pleading Amen. Amen! With the Virgin Mary and all who sang of your greatness, we pray for the power of the Spirit. Visit this gathering, this bread and this cup, with the presence of the body and blood of Christ.

Form us into a communion of service, and infuse your earth with the wholeness we seek. With grandparents and godparents, with the church universal, and especially with Gothard Krumins, Tom Haroldson, Carl Sather, Doris Loken, Lindy Larson, Donna Amundson, Robert & Clarice Christensen, lead us to a future we cannot yet see, and at the end draw all humanity to yourself.

Now with all of the family you saved by your love, we shout blessing blessing, glory glory, wisdom wisdom, thanksgiving thanksgiving, honor honor, power power, might might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen. Amen!

LORD S PRAYER Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

INVITATION TO COMMUNION Hunger no more. Thirst no more. Come to the banquet of life. COMMUNION The body of Christ, given for you. The blood of Christ, shed for you. Amen.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION Sovereign God, in this meal you give us a foretaste of the great feast to come. Keep us faithful to you, that we, with all your saints, may at length celebrate the marriage feast of the Lamb, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS BLESSING The love of God surround you; the grace of Christ release you; and the Holy Spirit be your guide and strength, now and forevermore. Amen.

SENDING SONG For All Your Saints, O Lord (Red Hymnal # 427) 1 For all your saints, O Lord, who strove in you to live, who followed you, obeyed, adored, our grateful hymn receive. 2 For all your saints, O Lord, who strove in you to die, who counted you their great reward, accept our thankful cry.

3 They all in life and death, with you, their Lord, in view, learned from your Holy Spirit's breath to suffer and to do. 4 For this, your name we bless and humbly pray anew that we like them in holiness may live and die in you. 5 To God, the Father, Son, and Spirit, ever blest, the One in Three, the Three in One, be endless praise addressed.

DISMISSAL Led on by the saints before us, go in peace to love and serve God & neighbor. Thanks be to God. From sundaysandseasons.com. Copyright 2018 Augsburg Fortress. All rights reserved.
