Order of Worship June 4, 2017 GOD CALLS US TO WORSHIP from Psalm 107 LEADER: Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. PEOPLE: Some wandered in desert wastes, hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. LEADER: Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. PEOPLE: Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! LEADER: For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. PEOPLE: Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons, for they had rebelled against the words of God. LEADER: Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart. PEOPLE: Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! LEADER: For he shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron. PEOPLE: Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction; and they drew near to the gates of death. LEADER: Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he 2

2 delivered them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. PEOPLE: Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! LEADER: And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy! Let them extol him in the congregation of the people. For all nursery-related questions, find our on-duty Church Mouse next door in the Education Building. A nursery is provided on the first floor of the Education Building for children up to 3 years. Pick up a kids clip case (black for ages 3-6; blue for ages 7-10) on your way into the service. Return to the baskets afterward. During the offertory, feel free to walk with and sign in your children (ages 4-5) for Children s Worship in the Education Building where they ll sing songs, receive ageappropriate, Gospelcentered teaching, and make crafts. Pick up your child after the service on the second floor next door. For middle school and high school youth, we join youth from other PCA Charleston-area churches monthly (usually on the first Sunday of the month) for worship, games, food, and fun. Each participating church helps host, so the location changes. Check our website for information about youth activities. 3

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. *that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places GOD REVEALS HIS WILL FOR OUR LIVES from Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age. Within Community Community Groups are the main ministry of Redeemer outside of Sunday morning worship. Connect with a community group during the week for great fellowship and Bible study. However, community groups at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, are much more than just Bible studies. These groups are like house churches where we want to live in community with each other like Luke writes about in Acts 2:42-47 because we re a family on mission together. Community groups are where we can learn together as disciples, take care of one another as neighbors, and reach out to our communities in love. Within our community groups we also organize weekly women s Bible studies meeting in neighborhoods around Charleston. See page 8 for a list of community groups and contacts who can tell you what s offered in your area, or visit our website: redeemer-charleston.org/ community-groups. 5

5 Where in the World WE CONFESS OUR SINS TO GOD GOD ASSURES US OF OUR FORGIVENESS from Titus 2:13-15 We are waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Declare these things. 7 MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES WELCOME TO SUMMER CRU STUDENTS: Cru s Summer Mission is coming back to Charleston, and the students are worshiping with our Redeemer family beginning TODAY. Redeemer will have about 16 staff and students with us for June and July. They are from all across the country but primarily from NC, Tenn., Ky., and SC. During their time in Charleston, students will work jobs downtown on King and Market streets and spend evenings and weekends growing in their faith and learning how to share their faith with co-workers here. The overall mission is to train up these college students for living with a mission-mindset in their classroom, workplace, neighborhoods, and families. As you meet them on Sunday mornings, give a hug and a word of encouragement to them as they step out in faith this summer!
