PASTOR S PAGE FOR APRIL 2018 APRIL is among the busiest of months for our church. Let us see what is happening: Sunday, April 1, is Easter Sunday. We have church services at both 7:30 and 9:00 a.m. We will celebrate Holy Communion at both services. Please prepare yourselves to receive the Holy Sacrament. Sunday School will be held, as usual, at 10:30 a.m. Come and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord!!! Tuesday, April 3, Consistory will meet at 8:00 p.m. Please note the new time. Thursday, April 5, Pastors' Prayer Meeting at Salem at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, A spring clean-up around the church yard and the cemetery yard has been scheduled beginning at 9 AM. We need to get ready for the mowing season. Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated. The cemetery association Sunday, April 8, is the Second Sunday of Easter. We are having a Mini-Musical by Alexis Lesher and Calleigh Wiest during the worship service. A BIG THANK YOU to the young ladies and their families! It is the start of the Lifeline Baby Bottle project. Also, it is the deadline for the Disaster Aid Clean Up project. Thursday, April 12, is the deadline to get a Fersammling ticket. Thursday, April 12, the first prayer meeting for Mom s in Prayer will take place at Salem at 7:00 p.m. We will meet to pray for our school and church children, their safety, and spiritual development. All who feel compelled to pray for our children are welcome, not just mom s! If interested, please contact Rose Novinger and check out the Mom s in Prayer International website at Saturday, April 14, is the EA Regional Conference. The theme: Holding on to The Light in Darkness. It will be held at Salem Reformed Church, Salem Church Road, Hagerstown, MD, Time: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 1
2 Saturday, April 14, The church will be providing food to sell for an auction at Mark Brown's house. We are looking for help that day and a variety of baked goods. We are also looking for one more roaster full of soup. We currently have Chicken Pot Pie, Haluski, Sausage with peppers and onions. Anyone wanting to volunteer or needing additional info, please contact Alicean Galloway at Sunday, April 15, is the Third Sunday of Easter. It is also the deadline for the May RUMBLINGS. Please have your information to Rose Novinger by this date. Friday, April 20, the PA Dutch FERSAMMLING will be held at the Wiconisco Fire Company, 387 Arch Street, Wiconisco, PA. Pastor Mark has a few tickets. Fellows, don t miss this. The doors open at 5:00 pm.; meal at 5:45 p.m. The tickets are $20 each this year. Sunday, April 22, is the Fourth Sunday of Easter. Sunday, April 29, is the Fifth Sunday of Easter. That afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., the Tri-Valley Area CROP Walk will take place. It starts at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley View, PA. Please walk if you can and contribute if you can to fight world hunger. However, the Pastor will need the money form back whether or not you raise money. This is a rule of the CROP Walk program to maintain financial integrity. The Pastor cannot waive this requirement. Parre Mark PARISH FACTS FUNERALS Dennis Calvin Clark, age 77, passed away at home on Feb. 7, His Memorial Service was held at Salem Church on Saturday, Feb. 17. He was a member of Salem Church. We wish to express our deepest sympathies to all his family and friends! Lila H. Arbogast, age 83, passed away on Feb. 23, Her Funeral was held at Frieden's Cemetery in Hegins on Saturday, March 3. She was a member of the Tremont Catholic Parish. Father Paul Rothermel and Pastor Mark Rothermel co-officiated at her service. We wish to express our deepest sympathies to all her family and friends! PASTOR'S REPORT FOR FEBRUARY Services, including 2 at Nursing Homes, 4 Nursing Home visits with 16 people seen; 4 Hospital Visits with 6 people seen; 13 Home Visits; 6 Home Communions; 1 Funeral; 1 Bible Study; 4 Choir Practices; and 10 Miscellaneous Meetings or Events.
