2 Thoughts from the Pastor THANK YOU On behalf of my family, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your prayers, cards, condolences, and support at the loss of our mother, Jane Vaughn. We especially appreciated all the work that went into the meal after the funeral. Some of you spent that whole Sunday at the church. After Sunday School and church, you stayed to set up and prepare for the meal, serve the meal, and clean up afterwards. Again, we are most grateful for all you have done during our time of grief. Thanks also to Rev. David Wilson, who stepped in to preach for me that Sunday morning. He not only filled in for me, but he preached a sermon right in line with the topic I was preparing to speak on. And, I understand he did an excellent job. My family and I are blessed to be part of such a loving and generous congregation. CHRISTIAN LIFE TRILOGY SERIES CONTINUES Easter Sunday begins the second part of our Christian Life Trilogy. This section is called: The Resurrected Life. During this 40 day period, we will look at what the resurrection of Christ means for each one of us, as Christians. We will consider all the ways that life is made new by the power of God that rose Jesus from the grave on that first Easter morning. There is a 40 day devotional guide that is available, as well as a 7 session study guide that focuses on the topic of each week. Our Adult Sunday School class will be using the study guide as a resource during this series. Also, my sermons will be devoted to those topics. The pattern for each week will go as follows: I will preach on a specific topic related to living our lives in the resurrection power of the Lord. Then, the daily readings for that week, in the 40-day devotional book, will offer a deeper look at that topic. And finally, the Adult class will discuss the sermon and the week s readings on Sunday morning, before the next topic is presented during Morning Worship. This 40 day study will take us up to the next great event in the Christian calendar - Pentecost. And, on Pentecost Sunday, May 15 th, we will begin the final section of the Christian Life series, entitled, The Spirit-Filled Life. I invite you to participate as much as you are able in this adventure.

3 UNITY 4 THE COMMUNITY Wednesday, April 6 th, will be the second Unity event, that will be held in the Carey Community Center. These series of events are designed to bring together pastors and congregations from churches around Beaver County. We gather together for food, fellowship, worship, prayer, and a time of study and discussion. This Unity event will feature a mini-concert by the Second Baptist Church choir from Rochester. After the meal and worship, we will break up into groups- Youth, Children, Men, and Women, and move to separate areas of the church and Carey Center for fellowship, prayer, and discussion. The meal begins at 6PM, and everyone is gone by 8:30PM. The event is free, but folks are welcomed to participate in a free-will offering to help with the food costs. Plan on attending this event and meeting other Christians from area churches. CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP Our next contemporary worship in the Carey Center will be Sunday April 17 th In Christian love, Pastor Dave The Women s Tea this year is planned for Saturday, April 30 at 12:30 pm in the Carey Community Center. All women, children and their guests are welcome to attend. Cost is $5.00 for adults and children under 10 are free. Stay tuned for information about our program. Bring your favorite tea cup with you and, if you are so inclined, wear your favorite hat! Reservations are being taken by Virginia Basalyga at until April 26. The Women are continuing to sell Anderson Candy Bars for $1 each. They are available on the table in the Carey Center lobby on Sunday mornings. We will have the penny jar out for the Ruth M. Smith Home each week also. Thank you for your support. Watch for events planned for the summer months.
